  • Coming from the world of primitive ground camping into vehicle bound overland camping what are my first impressions of the Go Fast Campers Version 2 Platform Camper? Initial thoughts and modifications will be discussed regarding possibly one of the best tools enabling better overland exploration and adventure. The ability to live comfortably from the vehicle that propels you into the unknown is an ability multiplier for those looking for outdoor adventure and a tuck bed camper/tent is the way to do that. Is the GFC Platform Camper the best tool for you?.. That's for you to decide; here's what I think...

I have a GFC and have it on my Toyota Tacoma which has a five foot box, which is pretty unusable. A GFC was a good and reasonable choice. I have the old mattress and purchased a Badger bed that allows me to use when I visit relatives and sleep in the house, I have my bed with me. Yes I have the moisture issues, but I have been managing it. The GFC is working good and it has its draw backs. I made my own gutters, which work good.

Does the GFC and your roof rack stay mounted on the vehicle at all times? Or is there a manageable way to remove the GFC if needed?

Good video and many of the same complaints that I had (and many others). I was one of the first few to apply the carpet headliner and it really did help the condensation quite a bit. I did a full piece with Super 3M 90 for the adhesive.
Curious how the pockets will hold up knowing that they are glued to the screen mesh. I also don't know how I feel about the pockets now covering nearly 1/4th of the lower portion of the screen. One thing that was nice in the summer was looking out while laying down - that no longer will be happening.

    Got alot from your video.
Considering the gfc topper or the full camper. Trying to decide which is best for me. Topper and then put a gfc on top w beef bars or just jump in w full camper….decisions decisions

They are pretty different from traditional campers. It's really just a rooftop tent. For me I still want to wheel the truck as hard as I can, and the gfc can take it. Thanks for watching!

Good video . I like the GFC but not sure how much benefit I would get over my current set up . I have a ford Maverick Tremor . With a 4 foot bed it would not really be much room to get inside . So other then gaining side access not too much to be gained .And 4 foot is not a long reach from the back . Current set up is .Soft topper -Xtrusion rack- FSR light RTT -GFC roll out awning . Thanks for making this video .
