What are some of your favorite must know tips?
I stay at the cosmopolitan often, so basically if I want food in the hotel to just charge it on my room
#3 never occurred to me! Thanks, great advice!
I don't care much for upgraded rooms, since I always spend so little time in them, to make the best of my stay.
However, in some hôtels, the cheapest rooms imply long walks because they are often located off main building, or furthest away from the elevators.
You may want to make a specific video with what rooms are preferable according to various criteria.
My last stay at the Bellagio was a nightmare since I had to walk all through the Hôtel to get to the back tower. At least the room was "cheap".
I never planned my restaurants or buffets ahead, because I never know in advance where I am going to be at any given time. I never had to wait very much either. I never really stay in the same spot, so I would hate to have to trade my time around a restaurant's appointment.
My tip is that I usually avoid the typical rushes by picking odd hours to eat. Obviously, it is not for everybody. if you have a family with kids, I know this is not achievable. Kids are not going to resist.
Another tip I would like your advice upon, is how to get non watered down cocktails at decent prices. My experience is terrible! the cheap drinks are basically ice cubes with color.
Even top places give you a few cl (centiliter (I like the metric system)) of booze for high prices. I tried to heavy tip my Casino cocktail waitress, but that did not work either.
This video was super validating because I was already doing half of them before I even knew they were tips, and the rest are super useful.
For the $20 trick, I just had the $20 between my fingers and asked the guy at the desk at Paris if they had an Eiffel view room and they did! It was a whole long weekend of the Bellagio fountains going off behind the tower. Best $20 I ever spent
If you're going to a buffet like the Wicked Spoon. Try to get there around 30 minutes before they switch to the lunch/dinner price, which is usually more expensive.
I get a $400 food & beverage comp which I never totally use, so I secretly pay for other peoples meals especially if they have kids 🙂
From where?
Nice thing to do for others.
That is the sweetest thing everz
That’s so generous of you
That is the last type of people I would help. Why encourage kids being in Vegas? Kids don’t belong there.
Tip: Avoid going home Sunday. Everyone leaves Sunday and there is always crazy traffic. We have been driving back to Cali on Monday’s instead and it’s definitely helped, plus we get to stay an extra day
Oh, yeah no doubt. Leaving on Sundays is chaos. Even the airport is super crazy.
Or if you do, leave before 9 am or after 3 pm. I booked a late flight, figuring get outside the peak rush, enjoy the day, get essentially a free day in Vegas by leaving luggage at the hotel bell desk and an unhurried trip to the airport!
@@bryantsteury8910 exactly. I leave before 10
Wish I knew this. Just left at noon yesterday (Sunday after thanksgiving) for LA. Took 7 hours vs 4.5 which would have been normal. Tired as hell.
Ahhh not everyone drives I fly (I’m a high roller) so I don’t need these cheap advice I SPEND
WOW....I just saved over $400 by calling and asking them to check the rates again. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
I booked at the Mirage for $175. I kept checking, and one day the rooms were down to $98. I called and they changed my price to $98.
Also for my night owls. I work night shift and noticed that when I was looking up hotel rates the price was cheaper in the middle of the night (around 3 AM EST) and then would go back up again during the day.
Oh wow!!
Good catch. Often those rates are generated by an automated system using algorithms. The next day a human looks at what the system did the night before and overrides it. I know of one chain that updates their rates 12 times a day.
Never buy any snacks in the Hotel gift shops, the prices are absolutely outrageous. A trip to your nearest CVS is well worth it!
In rechecking room rates AND car rental rates...you might want to clear your cookies on your computer. The properties and business keep track of your interaction with their sites by cookies and typically will not show lower rates.
This evening, I was checking the Golden Nugget and the original offer was $177/night....I looked at other properties and then went back to the Nugget and the price went up $50/night and not matter what I did, it would not lower. Until I cleared the cookies. ~S
Going on weekdays (instead of weekend) is one of my priorities when traveling to Las Vegas. 🤓🍻of course, to avoid overcrowding.
As a frequent Vegas visitor, I've never done a split stay. I feel like that would be added stress and time taken away from just being on vacation and enjoying myself. But I visit multiple times a year, so I just try out different hotels each time.
Love the re-checking rates tip! I'm going in January and called my hotel last week when I saw they had a black Friday deal just to see if I could get the rate and ultimately have now saved nearly 600 bucks off my original booking price!
So I call them and ask for the current rate instead of my reservation rate?
I did the $50 Trick at the Bellagio. Was told it would help a lot more than the standard $20. Blame it on inflation. It did work and I got an upgrade from a standard room to a sweet Fountain view room!
Of all the travel "Vloggers I have seen on CZcams, you are no doubt one of the best. Many wanna-be CZcams "stars" on here that are so annoying trying to be cute, funny, and "cool" when they're not. Stick to this format. And your advice about booking direct is spot on.
We just checked our hotel room rates and managed to save $200!! THANKS TRAVEL RUBY!!!
Great tips! We take a pur water filter pitcher that fits in your suitcase for water in our room. We save on plastic waste and always have water. We also bring our stainless steel bottles with us. This also saves a lot of money.
Hmm...never even thought of that!
Oh wow great idea!
I love your advice about third-party websites. Third-party websites were probably useful 20 years ago, but they are relics now that only create problems. I travel a lot. I always tell people-if you like a hotel, a car rental place, or an airline then go to their website and join whatever program they have, even if you are doing it in the lobby of the hotel where you want to stay one minute before you try to get a room. In the past ten years, whenever I have been in line behind someone at a hotel arguing with the person at the front desk, the problem is with a third-party site 100% of the time.
Third party sites can be useful to compare prices. I’ve always looked at third party cites first then go to the airline or hotels website to book!
If you get a deal through a site like Working Advantage, though, they're hard to beat on rates. We got 4 nights for $501 at Park MGM and it was going to be over double that direct through the hotel. Even the rep I spoke to at Park said "Nope, we're leaving that reservation right where it is! We can't beat that!" LOL
Charging everything to our room is my fav tip. I had no idea I should be doing that. Thanks.
you captured my main tip with number 9- have ideas for what you want to do but don't overplan! It's better to have a loose itinerary with some anchor point like a show on this day, a dinner on this night. You're on vacation not at work so don't put yourself on a schedule
Exactly what I do!
I made a list of what I wanted to do and able to check them off as I went along.. it helped me stay focused and not forget an activity I was looking forward to.
My dad is a total rewards member and mgm rewards member. He gets offers for complimentary stays. A few years ago we used all the complimentary stays changing properties because you can't use promotions back to back. We stayed for a whole month.
If you are new to Vegas you must keep in mind of the Resorts Fee. They can be higher than the daily room rate. Otherwise you hit all the tips I can think of
I’ve considered a split stay, but the issue is with incidentals. Both hotels are going to hold a certain amount of your money and it’s likely even after you check out of your first hotel, you won’t see that money until you’re home.
Love the tip about charging all your eating and dining in the hotel to your room. Show the hotel you’re spending money so they can give you some sweet comps and freebies. Do you have to tell your room number or show your room card?
Glad you mentioned also charging eating to your room when you’re out at sister properties of your hotel. I totally wouldn’t have thought of that. Makes sense that the sister properties are all in the same system and can credit your dining to your room.
There is actually an app out there that allows you to compare Lyft and Uber rates together in the same app. 👍🏾
Tip: Try to avoid Vegas in the peak summer. The heat is ridiculous. Around now is nice albeit a bit chilly.
Ruby, in one of the videos, show people how to charge their meals to the room, and where you can do that at depending on where you stay.
Yes, please! Also, what happens when you wind up at a non-affiliated restaurant/store? For instance, staying at Mandalay Bay but grabbing a quick bite at Miracle Mile?
Usually when I charge to my room You just tell the server for the cashier or whoever that you'd like to charge it to your room. They will probably ask your room number and to see your room key. However, the restaurants need to be in the same chain. You can't charge meals etc. at Caesars on your MGM card... They have to be affiliated!!
This is more of a ploy when you stay at a mega chain resort, like MGM ones or Caesars properties. Both are EXCELLENT when it comes to dining options in their many casinos.
Simply ask your server to charge to your room, and they will verify that you are indeed the person that you claim you are. It makes the world of a difference when you want to stay in nice places on the strip, but don't gamble heavy. Corporations are focusing lots of effort into dining and entertainment as opposed to just trying to get you into the casino. You can build some nice point by simply charging everything you can to your room as opposed to paying cash or card.
Just saved over $600 (half the total rate) booking with Park MGM by re-checking the room rates. Ruby you are an absolute legend - THANK YOU 💓💸
question. how did you go about requesting price change? was there a number or certain link you had to click?
@@Andrew-cg2zl called the on the phone! Customer service of the hotel you booked with
The tip on checking ride sharing prices against taxi cabs especially going up and down the strip is so true I've had so many friends who didn't feel like walking a mile to their hotel and an Uber was 25 bucks whereas a taxi would have been 9.
Do taxis have apps or do I have to call?
Taxis are always at the main entrance of every casino. And if there isnt one the valet can call you one. Thats another beauty of the taxis. They are always there waiting. Uber you could be waiting 20 mins for a reid sometimes.
the downside to split stays is that you have nowhere to call home for five or six prime hours on the day you switch
I took your advice! Hubby and I are doing a split stay on our next trip. 4 days at resorts world, 2 days at cosmo(Fountainview balcony suite😍), and the rest at Flamingo(where we usually stay). I’m so excited!
I never realized I can charge to my room from a different hotel. I will have to look into this, it’s a great idea.
Good call! hôtels usually bet on customer's laziness for moving to another hôtel, so they have increasing rates as your stay progress. It is not always obvious the rate is going to change after the first night.
In the same way they don't show the "resort fee" that you will need to pay above the room rate.
As long as the other hotel is in the same hotel group as where you're staying. (MGM/Ceasars)
Great tip for charging everything to your room. Never thought to do that, but it makes sense.
A good benefit of booking on the hotel site vs like Expedia or Orbitz is for big weekends. When you book a stay someplace, the site where you book it as is responsible for your room. So if you book thru say Priceline and you get to the hotel and it's oversold, you have to go thru Priceline to get another room and who tf knows where they'll put you.
EDC vet here. I don't know how many ppl have had to stay in sketch motels because they booked thru a discount site on a really busy Vegas weekend"
Liquid IV hydration powder is a game changer. Costco sells big bags. We use it all the time.
If you can - try avoiding coming in on a Friday. (I do make exceptions myself for the Good Friday holiday) - I try to do Saturday through Monday when doing LV trips.
My new tip from a Oct trip: eat off strip! Even with the Uber fare, we’ve eaten at local Mexican places, an Ethiopian place, Korean bbq, dim sum etc! Affordable
Always stop at the total wine south strip and grab stuff for room drinks. I also pack plastic cups so I can make a room drink and bring it on the go!
Yes, definitely this one!! Also one time my mom went to Walmart in Vegas and boughr a coffee pot and coffee. Then she took the coffee pot back to Walmart for a refund when we left!! Haha
Charge to the room, go off the strip for booze and snacks, always reserve for the restaurants you really want, and bring comfortable shoes!
Could you please do a video on solo travelling to Las Vegas?
COMFORTABLE WALKING SHOES!!!
I definitely agree with winging it! I feel like planning a couple things does help but time always gets away! And another tip since I usually drive from Arizona its better to leave on Saturday or Monday less or no traffic whereas leaving Sunday is a mess
Best Tip: seriously watch all Travel Ruby tip videos. I’ve been back to Vegas a couple of trips since finding this channel and each time use all the tricks of the trade. We have a wonderful trip each time. Thank you Ruby for doing all the hard work so we can have great stays in Vegas!!
We want to see Mr ruby!! Show us that face
@@stephpom5373 Check out the Live on the Vegas Strip posts, you will see him alot there. You're welcome! :D
@@jennydanggas6324 thank you Jenny, you're so cute !
Keep in mind you have to figure out what to do between check in and check out times when you stay at multiple hotels. I always like to stay at one place the whole time. It’s easy to travel around Vegas. Everything is pretty close.
You can often check in early without charge. Just check bags, go grab a bite take a look around and then check in if you can't.
Folks, Ruby provides THE most practical advice on Vegas than any other bloggers. Trust me, I watch them all, and she gives the most helpful ideas. Ruby, that's a great tip about charging everything to your room. That is why you use a player's card in the first place. You want the casino to know how much you spend - on gambling, food, souvenirs, etc. Not only that it saves you from carrying around lots of cash to pay for things. I've been to Vegas several times, and I have to admit to not using this tip frequently enough. So this video is a reminder to me for my upcoming trip in March 2024. Glad you moved to Vegas Ruby so you can give us even more great ideas!
Loved this video Mrs. Ruby, and will be sharing it !
👍🏻 my favorite tips were …
*Staying at more than one hotel
*powder pedialyte for your water
*charging everything to your room
My tip is keep an eye on the food and drink package deals. When I booked my stay at Park MGM there was a $50 food and drink credit per day within the MGM properties for about $15 more than the standard room rate when you charged back to your room. As I was planning to eat at some of those places anyway it made sense.
However, you also must pay attention to the food & beverages deal rules, MGM for one only valid for day of when you check in but not the day when you check out on a one night stay, I learned it the hard way, end up not able to use the credit and losing it, thought I would use the credit the next day at Bellagio brunch buffet
Fantastic tips!!! My #1 is always comfortable shoes, you will be doing a ton of walking, even if you are only staying at your own property!
Love the tip about re-checking the daily room rates on the website and calling to change to the cheaper rate. Didn’t know you could do that!
Great tips, Ruby!
This is typical of the Las Vegas hôtels. The price of the night increases after the first night. I learned that the hard way. Ruby's tip is very valid. In Vegas, never lower your guard because the hôtels are continuously looking at ways to con you in spending more.
Hey so the rechecking room rates thing TOTALLY works. We just saved $300 bucks on our hotel stay at Aria by doing that. Thank you so much for the tip.
Glad I could help!
To add context for anybody else, at first they said they couldn't do it and that we'd have to cancel our reservation (they said they would refund the deposit) then rebook. When we said let's go ahead and cancel the reservation, they put us on hold for like 5 min, then allowed the price change to the lower price.
i love vegas... been many times.. but i never booked directly..gonna try this year... as far as transportation i use the duece and the monorail system lol. GREAT VIDEO
Thank You for the 20 Dollar trick Video! Today I came from Reno to Vegas and stayed the 54th time here. I never knew the trick till I saw You!
At the Exalibur they gave me a suite in the 26th floor! Thank You and go on making Your charming and clever videos!
Claudius & Anna from Berlin❤❤❤
I think it would be a good idea to mention all the apps like myvegas that offer rewards for playing. Also tipping for a room upgrade is referred to as a tip now and not a trick
I totally agree about keeping your body hydrate, especially if you're going to Vegas in the summer time. I almost passed out during my first visit to Vegas because I didn't drink enough water. It was in early August and I thought I could walk from the Wynn to the Bellagio in a 115 degrees heat. I was wrong.
It takes a little practice to be a camel. I think the issue is that in the US (I am from Texas), we are too used to AC running everywhere.
Las Vegas is easier on me because it is not as humid as H'town. At least you don't get all sweaty in 30 seconds after you started to amble.
When I was in better shape, I walked the strip. Just to watch the hôtel parades when they still had them.
Wynn to the Bellagio is a hell of a hike.
Excellent video! I moved to Vegas in 2021 after visiting here many times a year. All of your tips are great - but there is one that I never really paid attention to until I was a local. Look for happy hours where there can be some significant savings - even at nice restaurants on and off the strip (like Hanks at Green Valley Ranch). You can often beat the rush (before or after), and have a really nice meal for less. And I agree 100% that you should not over plan. My favorite and most memorable trips were the ones where we had no plan.
I went to Vegas for my first time and for several reasons I am considering a move to there, do you have any guidance on relocating there?
The B12 is a great tip for partying in general and was glad to hear it included along with the hydration tips.
Pills by mouth of B12 take awhile (days, weeks) to build up in your system.
@@deartori what forms does B12 come in?
@@AKKTerry intramuscular, oral pill and oral disintegrating. Your best bet is the oral disintegrating.
To add to the split stay, if you use the Vegas slots, you can do two different MGM properties and get two different free slot plays. If you stay more than three nights at each property and you have the points, that can add up to 1$75 in each property.
I go to Vegas often and I’ve been going to Vegas for over 15 years now. I thought I knew Vegas but every time I watch your channel I learn something new. I always make sure to watch your latest videos right before I take a trip to Vegas .Thank you for all your tips and tricks. I love your channel.
One thing about the room hopping is the deposits down on the room take awhile! I stayed at the aria the deposit was $200 and I didn’t get it back til after I was home 😢 sad I could’ve had it while there in Vegas
Making dinner reservations is a key tip, we were there last week for my birthday and I waited til 2 weeks before to try making reservations at Bavettes but it was completely booked , ended up at Nomad Library and it was great as well. Thanks for the tips Ruby
There are some places that dont do reservations too, some restaurants at the Wynn dont take any reservations and it's first come first serve
Yes, I’ve learned the hard way. My husband and I are going in February and I managed to make all the reserva we need for the more in demand restaurants easily
Great tips . I’ve been travelling there for 30 years and all these are right on point .. love you mentioned putting all your spending on the room for extra points for comps ☺️
@1:59 The whole room rate thing does work. we are leaving for Vegas in 5 hours and saw this tip. I immediately checked, and sure enough rates dropped. This saved us 810.0 right off the bat! It's our wedding weekend so now we can go have more fun thank you so much. If we see you and Mr. Ruby out and about, we will definitely say thank you for all the tips. It's my 1st time in vegas and my wife's 3rd time
one of my last trips to vegas was a nightmare, it was bonkers crazy, and got so hot i almost passed out from the heat, i went back to the room, my face was beet red and was seeing spots, i splashed water on my face and passed out in bed but then i learned my lesson about hydrating
Now that you live in Vegas
VegasRuby would be a stellar channel name change

Always awesome tips! Thanks Ruby and Mr. Ruby
Excellent video. Thanks a lot
thanks
Always good Mrs Ruby thank you so much.
Excellent tips! The first 4 are ones that I rarely see mentioned even though they're the best. We always split our trips between the strip and Fremont. The $20 trick is kind of played out and maybe too well known but I'm sure you get asked about it a lot.
Excellent
Fabulous tips. Tyvm. When we come we usually stay in condos. Personal preference for having more room, quieter pools, save huge on food costs with a kitchen and a grill. Of course, we do selective dining as well.
Love you ruby thanks for the tips
another amazing video

Great job Ruby. Well done. Very useful.
