Iâm ready to see 30 years into the future. Future Joel is volunteering at the polling place, chatting with everyone and asking about their gardens. đ
haha I absolutely see that for myself too! đ
I believe the flowers are called Foxgloves. Look them up they are beautiful but they might be toxic. Good to see you again Joel. ~Cara â€
If they are foxglove (and they do look like it), they can be toxic, they can affect cardiac rhythm. They were actually the original source of the compound used to make Digitalis heart drugs.
@@thesilverdragon1963 I did read that too.
They are poisonous to dogs also.
Yep, theyâre foxgloves. I didnât know they grew wild in the UK.
@@christophergallagher2919 Foxgloves are very British and have been featured in English literature by British authors such as Wordsworth and Tennyson. Foxgloves have also been associated with fairies and magic.
"Not less the bee would range her cells,
The furzy prickle fire the dells,
The foxglove cluster dappled bells."
From "The Two Voices" by Alfred Lord Tennyson, 1842.
"Maids at the wheel, the weaver at his loom,
Sit blithe and happy; bees that soar for bloom,
High as the highest Peak of Furness-fells,
Will murmur by the hour in foxglove bells"
From "Nuns Fret Not at Their Convent's Narrow Room" by William Wordsworth, 1802.
The setting in which Joel saw the foxgloves in this vlog remind me of the following excerpt from a song:
âThere is a roadway, muddy and foxgloved
Whenever I'd had life enough
My heart is screaming of
And in a few days I would be there, love
Whatever here that's left of me is yours just as it wasâ
From the song "As It Was" from the album Wasteland, Baby!" by the Irish singer-songwriter Hozier, 2019.
OMG đ€Łđđ€Ł âŠ Keegan, with the hand gestures ⊠two ships passing đ
Bahaha! Keeganâs face when you said âwe come together during the dayâ. You can tell his mind just went straight to the gutter. đ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł
Joel having Dunkin Donuts before going to the polling station is the most Joel thing ever. After the waffling on and Pepsi Max and lack of outro.
Honestly Joel, I think Iâve said it soo many times, thank you for letting us hang out with you!! Love your vlogs!!
Aw thanks so much Susan! I really appreciate you saying that! Thanks for watching
I remember your flower competition with Lucy. She did win but your arrangement was also lovely.
I hope Lucy is doing well.â€
Totally agree about loving the added drama of voting at the polling station đ€
So much fun in something so mundane haha!
Joel so great to follow you as in a day in the life! Have a wonderful Sunday friend â€â€
I spend my summers in Brighton. I absolutely love you and your family.
Sunday vlog, as promised! đ I love that youâre an old school guy that still votes in person, thatâs cool. You definitely need a DD sponsorship, Iâll try working on that here for you! đ And thanks for the plants update, I always love that, and buying cut flowers is amazing, especially since you can get them pretty cheap these days. đ Have a great week! â€
Thanks Joe (or Producer Joe!)! We'll see if it happens one day!!!
I love your higgliddy piggliddy (sp) videos.Love the windswept hair! Thanks for sharing with us.
Welcome back! You look rested. I am enjoying your video right now.đâ€
I was waiting for this. I have missed seeing you. For quite a while, since Vlogvember I guess, my kids would walk by me watching my screen and say, "What's Joel up to today?" But I barely see you these days. Looking forward to watching the complete video.
Good to see you Joel, youâre looking really good, northern life clearly suits you đđ
Thank you Valerie!
I got a slow weekend, my internet is acting up and I am hanging by a thread, so I am grateful for this vlog to help me spend this relaxed sunday.
Great vlog! Itâs great to see Keegan, Tayla and Fletcher! Thanks for sharing a bit of your life. Iâm easy to please. Whatever you decide to show here is fine by me. Donât stress yourself out making content. I feel like your brash, personal-space-invading-with-a-hug American mate who through your vlogs gets to catch up with you for a few minutes. Cheers, mate!
No higgeldy-piggeldy. Love your vlogs. We call those events on the greenery "Fairs" or "Carnivals". I love that the rides all look the same. The games were very different. I like that you get something even if you lose. That doesn't normally happen in the US.
Welcome back. Great to see you again. Enjoyed the vlogâ€â€
I think the flowers are called Fox Glove. But Iâm not certain.
Maybe all you needed was some rest, Joel. You look relaxed. â€
This was so fun, like running errands with a friend. Always great to see the kids and the dogs â€
Welcome back! Your vlogs are fun and Iâve missed them!
Joel, Foxglove is very toxic and poisonous to dogs and humans, glad to see that you have not forgotten about us utube channel subscribers, I like your vlogs that you take us where you go. It was good to see the dogs đ and the kids were good, and of course Keegan.
I really enjoyed this vlog.
Thank You for sharing.
Iâve had a very busy June/early July like you guys, so it was nice to watch you settling back in at home just as I am doing the same.
Hi Joel. So glad you are enjoying your gardening. It's great for stress release and reduces blood pressure. Gardeners tend to have healthier and longer lives.
Funny story Joel, I was playing your video and my boyfriend happen to check the home cameras. He then text me and said who is that brittish guy talking to you about how hard he worked out? I then said you are shitting me right? After I had a hard laugh I filled him in. đ
Those photos of Spain were fantastic. I used to đłïž in person until 2020. đą
It was fun seeing the dogs romp and the kiddos having fun.
Good to have you back!
Sounds like the trip to Spain was a good one for you and Keegan. Looks like Ava and Finn are happy you're back,
Finn had a little extra pep in his step, lol. Plants look great, the kids look great and both you and Keegan look great, lol, it's all good and Welcome Home!đđđ
Have a Good Week đ„°
Always nice to get a new vlog from you. Was nice to see Keegan and the children. Hope you have a great week! We are off to New York City for a week as I am on vacation for the next two weeks. See you in the next vlog.
4:09 Literally the most UK weather. Sunshine followed by âThe world we know is coming to an endâ.
I enjoyed your frenetic vlog. Youâre always so active. Thanks for taking the time to share.đđđđ
Sweet Joel is such a sweet airhead!
One good thing about British elections is that the campaigns don't drag on for years and years and years. Here in the United States, the next Presidential election cycle starts almost the day after the election. The good thing that we have is early voting and vote by mail depending on what state. Where is summer? It's here to where it will be 47C! About 118 which will be an all time record for the city. That is where summer is. At home in the air conditioning until the sun sets then will go out for a swim. The other nine months are almost perfect weatherize. When you go away on holiday, have you considered drip irrigation on a timer? Saves from being home or forgetting to water the pants.
Have you seen elections in America? Yours seem so civilized! Iâm jealous
I really love the life you lead, Joel.
Thank you! Me too - I enjoy the ordinary mundane parts of life like this vlog shows!
Great to see you back Joel ! Nothing better than a fresh pjs for sure đ, Caroline Ireland đźđȘ
The purple flowers are foxgloves. We can grow them from seed here in the U.S. They are sort of like a wildflower, but many people propagate them in a great variety of colors.
Ooo I've heard of them! Didn't realise thats what they looked like. They're very pretty!
I'm glad I'm not the only one who likes to vote in person! đ
Good to see you and great catch up. You were missedâŠ
The Salix is looking good. Iâm really not obsessed with your Salix tree (lol), I have 2 and donât know anyone else who has them. đŹ My word, are they temperamental! But worth it! Thanks for sharing your week with us again! đ
Glad u enjoyed ur work/vacay...lovin' the crazy hair...â€
Enjoyed the vlog and the book recommendations â€
wow! 2 vlogs in a week. We hit the jack-pot guys! Dunkin is my 2nd favorite coffee. My very favorite is "Peet's - Major Dickason's blend. I buy the whole beans and grind enough to last about a week. Enjoyed your trip to the village Fair. Joel, I like your beard. Looks really good!!
Everyone should vote ..you hope youâre doing your part to make a difference donât waste it. I use to go to Dunkinâ Donuts all the time and treat myself to coffee/ breakfast or an iced coffee/doughnut havenât lately . I like the hair .. itâs a different look đ€©. I love plants .. unfortunately I canât grow anything in the house so it has to be the fake cringe đ± plants for me ..Iâm a Big fan â€ïž all your videos.. Thanks Joel
Yes purple flowers are foxgloves! Very pretty and quiet pricy in the States. Love you!
I'm the same! I love going to vote on election day! Everything is buzzing about! There is a "feel" in the air! Loving the updates on all the plants. You need to name them all. Ahem...mine may or may not be named and have backstories to their lives. đ Always a lovely catch up! Always â€
I will never get over your book prices, â€
The lilac and white flowers on your dog walk are Foxgloves, very pretty!
I love voting in person too! I had to do a postal vote once due to being overseas on election day, and it was very unsatisfying - definitely lacking drama! I also make a point of making sure I vote, in honour of all the brave woman that suffered whilst fighting for our right to vote đȘđœ
Love your higgledy-piggledy vlogs!
Yes the flowers are foxgloves, come back every year and good in sun/part shade environment
Hi Joel, I like the plant in the green pot. I'm going to have to get one for my patio. đ
The green bushy one? they're called Sekkan-Sugi! So pretty!
@@TheJoelWood Sekkan -Sugi Thanks đ
Do you have ticks? I want to walk the Cotswold way and wondered about ticks in the UK. That would be a great trip for you to do.
Love your Videos keep up the good work.đ
I †election day, too! I take the whole day off work to enjoy watching the results here in the US.
Great to see you vote. I love to vote so I can get my sticker lol. That flower looks like a foxglove on your walk. I have to say Iâm so jellouse I love your hot tub. I always wanted one !
I grow those tubular wildflowers in my cottage garden - they are digitalis. They seed themselves really easily, are very toxic, but very lovely.
Those wildflowers are Foxglove (digitalis). Same as the heart med.
I totally agree about voting on Election Day. There's Early voting here in the U.S. as well, but I always wait to vote until the actual election.
Might be time to defrost your freezer. I think I saw a Wolly Mammoth in that Glacier. đ
Iâve enjoyed the Lisa Jewell books Iâve read too.
Greetings from Texas! Put some marbles or decorative pebbles in the tall vase.
I love your higgeldy piggildy. Thanks Joel.
We have the floaty chlorine dispenser in our tub. Hoping you aren't using bromine! Lol. You need to use gloves too as the chlorine can irritate the skin.
The flowers in the field are foxgloves
Joel, I have to ask you this question -where did you get those two blue chairs, the ones around the table where you placed the flowers. They are a very royal blue? By the way, love it when you take us on your errands. Thank you. Be well and stay safe. Alex from LA.â€
The flowers are foxgloves :) If you touch them, make sure to wash your hands after.
Very nice Joel, I'm a political junkie, grew up on CNN (late 80s to mid 90s)....I always vote by mail (post) these days, though. I did work for Santa Clara County as a voter aid in March, that was interesting. đ I see you went to what we would call a County Fair over here (or State Fair). In my place growing up, we had a 24 jet spa and also a pool about 8 m long by 4 m wide. đ
@@karl_ambler Biden.
We would watch you mow the lawn. đ Any video is worth us watching just to support you .
Thank you for the video. Flowers are wonderful but they seem to cost so much these days. Carnations used to be cheap!
Digitalis....poisonous, but so pretty. You need to get yourself a proper re-usable coffee mug, seriously!
Windy was an understatement the other day, and for July, the temperatures are decidedly chilly!
Definitely a Lily vase man.
Love your Blog.
Foxgloves, not strictly a weed.
You do look tanned and healthy so taking time away (in Spain) from CZcams is a good decision. As always enjoy a catch up vlog.
Your boyfriend reminds me of Roy Kent from Ted Lasso. He sounds like him too.
I`d sure as hell pump some protein into Joel and Keegan! Yoghurt! Yeah Right.đ€
What?? No sausage sizzle at the polling booth? It is an institution here in oz (even though I know you like to bag us out...).đJeepers Keegan is good looking!!
I was watching an American influencer & he recommended the book - Yes, Daddy by Jonathan Parks-Ramage. I know the title is a bit ⊠but you only seem to read books that your mother would read or your former housemate or fantasy books. All the books that you read seem to be only written by women and catering to women. While there is nothing wrong with female authors, you seem to be in need of some balance. Also mixing it up with some old gay canon or more deeper books is good. I know that you are often reading for pleasure or an escape but just like you mix a pleasure walk with a hard workout at the gym (which isnât always fun but necessary). I know that in the past (& maybe still) you have also read self help books - which is great too!
Sorry but that book looks like trash. Not my cup of tea at all. I love the books I read, and my book choice is none of your concern.
@@TheJoelWood you have a platform from which you could make the world a better place (which you are already doing with your visibility on your channel & your podcast) but you could also give a spotlight to LGBTQ++ authors too. I'm not saying that because you are gay that you can only read gay books. I only suggested that one particular one because it didn't seem too highbrow for you.
dunkin? bleh.
what did you think of the gen election results?
going to spain next May: Barcelona, Madrid, & San Sebastian. any recommendations?
Hi Joel, you are my literal only British âfriendâ đ I started watching this British show recommended by my other friend Kim Kardashian you may know her, she is this chick who lives in the Hills of LA, anywho on with the show Naked Attraction. If you havenât watched it is a show where men and women choose dates from their naked bodies. I have a generalization question about British or European men is it less common for them to be circumcised? Most on this show are not, here in the US being circumcised is more common than not. TIA Love you being you and happy â„ïž
I can't believe how inexpensive the books are there....a new(ish) soft cover book is $15 here in the US.
Yeah it always baffles me why books are so much more expensive in the US?
3:06 Youâre so good looking that when you look at yourself, your hairs stand on end.
Thanks for the smiles, Joel and all. đ No pressure, but it's always nice when you check in. đ
Apparently you have to pay to see him do anything. If you pay, you get to see him in Spain. If you donât pay, you get to see him walk to Dunkin Donuts and to vote. Not even actually in Dunkin Donuts or voting. Just walking back and forth.
Social media is how he makes his money.
Sorry babe but I don't owe you anything. My channel. My choice. Your choice is whether you subscribe or not... so feel free to unsubscribe if you like âș
Have you even seen his other videos? He has taken us on many trips and so much more. His vlogs are entertaining and wonderful. Your comment was so unnecessary and not kind. Why don't you move along mate.
@@juliehutchison93 he puts no effort at all in this channel. He puts a camera on a table or on his dashboard, and talks about what he does instead of actually filming what he does. Itâs just a fact.
I guess you're entitled to your wrong opinion.đ
We've not long got home from altea (spain) & you'd think it was winter again in the uk đ„ I agree you deffo feel healthier abroad then u come back to the uk & get fat again đ«đ you & keegan are so funny đ ships passing in the night...that come together in the day....đ€đłđđ€Ł pmsl
Do you have a clothes dryer? If you donât have a dryer how do you dry your sheets and blankets? Iâm not sure if I should congratulate you on the change in your government or not.
Yes we have a dryer, but only tend to dry bedding and underwear/gym gear. As we don't want to shrink our tshirts etc
4:23 So much for separation of Church and State đ
No such thing in the UK. The King is the head of the Church.
â@@Glen-qh5xqbut the King can't get involved in politics so there is some separation between state and church.
Can you explain the political parties in England....I know they are different then America which is similar to ours and which isn't
Isn't there a discrepancy when you have over 1000 views and only 300 likes....are we forgetting something?
How could so many vote Labour? ..... Watch some Jeff Taylor videos............................
Foxgloves
A British person vacationing in Spain? Thatâs news to me (jk)
The flowers are foxgloves but keep an eye out they are toxic think the proper name is digitalis
Yes, and it's used to make Digoxin, a drug for treating heart arrhythmia. Very powerful.
JoelâŠ.i think weeds are flowers in the wrong place.
I think both Keegan and Joel would love Vegandale in the states. Its a festival full of vegan foods from a variety of vendors that are sweet savory and a bit of both. It is held every June in a variety of different locations like Chicago and Los Angeles and NYC.
Did Fletcher have a growth spirt? He looks taller.
