Honestly it sounds so good with tuba though. Tuba had a much more mellow warm tone at that range while euphonium is brighter and more powerful. They combine very well.
Those notes aren’t that hard with practice but he makes them sound so warm

It’s cause he was playing on a F tuba, you most likely have a Bb tuba like me
Yeah, as a tuba player who regularly plays that high and higher, i gotta give some mad respect
@@giovaniconforti1956 it’s true that it’s easier to play high on an F tuba, but I can still play up to the Bb above middle C on a BBb. It’s not impossible, but it’s much harder.

I play the Euphonium myself and (since i´m quarantined, thanks corona) i´ve started practicing Tuba as well.
Now i know how hard it is to get the tone to sound as smooth as this guy gets it on Tuba.

Yes!..You see the talent and skill. I grew up playing Barritone and transitioned to BBb Tuba,...at 14, always trying to keep smoothe clean tone in upper register on Tuba. The sound is worth the effort. These guys have mastered it!

Yes the two instruments are beautiful together! I'm in a Tuba Euphonium Ensemble and there's about 6 to 7 Tubas and 7 Euphoniums... beautiful dark sound!

Obinna Nwakwue Even still, F tubas have a close enough bore to standard contrabass tubas that it’s mainly a matter of slotting.

Noah Garcia could you give me tips on how to get that high with the best tone possible? I’m kinda new and I get a “pinchy” when I try and go over a G(top line of staff) I play a Bb btw.

When you want to do a euphonium duet with your friend, but he only plays tuba and you don’t want to change the notes to lower them
DatTreeWillo Seedling I mean if you can play tuba you already know the notes for euph. Coming from someone who knows both instruments
Well, I don’t know if that is exactly how it works, unless he is a euphonium player and used his euphonium mouthpiece on his tuba, which I have done before, the different size in mouthpiece will require a different skill set, the euphonium is just a tuba an octave up, so to get around the same experience one would play the tuba part an octave up on euphonium, or visa versa. So a B Flat 1 on a tuba, would be around the same feeling as a B flat 2 on euphonium.

I used to play both. Mainly tuba though. I was quite good in high school. I know how difficult it can be to hold that kind of tone quality in those higher registers. That was a beautiful performance.

The only reason I know this song is cause some Asian guy did it on a trombone and showed off trombones highest notes
And it's not even by Giulio Caccini. This piece was composed in 1970 by Vladimir Vavilov but since then it's been misattributed to Caccini, which is a composer from the Renaissance. Beautiful music, though.
