This is probably the weirdest patch in splatoon history, like the devs just woke up one day and said FUCK splash wall sick of fighting that fucking wall instead of nerfing zooka which is objectively more annoying than a wall 💀
patches always have a random stray nerf to something that didnt really need it, the wheel has spun and landed on wall this time

tbf this isn't a major nerf to wall, the weapons are all relatively bad at taking down wall, they could of done a universal nerf to wall, but they handpicked which weapons to do it with. This is more of nintendo saying, you get to fight wall better, you get to fight wall, and you, and you!

IDK, I don't think half the weapons that were buffed against it can kill it within 10 bullets yet.
If the wall was more controllable setting it down, the nerf against it would make more sense. Otherwise the wall got needlessly bullied.

Best part of this patch was the hidden squeezer nerf in the other changes
I actually have pretty mixed feelings on that one. Of course a squeezer nerf should be nice, but this just makes it slightly harder(?) to use without fixing its glaring accessibility issue...

@@squiddu Because splat zones maps are way harder to mess up design wise than every other gamemode, there are way more better splat zones maps because you don't have to go through the enemy base as much on bad maps, making more decent maps you can play on with Zones
Disregarding the bubble cheese and other stuff they changed, the reeflux buff is actually so huge. I genuinely can't wait to see what reeflux players do with it

Im thinking it's gotta be, since they mention a reward for beating them at hazard level max. There's no way they take the challenge of reaching hazard level max, add an extra challenge on top of that and then make it where you can only go for it once every three months.

They might have actually made the Stringers good as main weapons in this patch. Tri-Stringer sounds like it will be able to paint well now, and the Reeflux buff is obviously incredible.
Now if only they could give the Stringers actual kits
Let's be fair here, Vflux has a good kit, and wail works pretty well on Vstringer.
The Wall nerf I believe is also to get ready for Charcoal with Wall as well. Plus if you look at the weapons that can handle Walls better with the patch, they're all shorter range (Jr, Sploosh, Aero, Inkbrush, Clash). I think it's intended to allow shorter range weapons to better deal with those that use walls.

A nerf to turbo controllers on the Squeezer. That's a healthy thing for PvP modes, but it means I can't play Squeezer rotations in Salmon Run anymore since it destroys my hands.

One thing I haven’t seen anyone mention yet is they added something for MIRROR MATCHES of all things.
Apparently, when you get a mirror match, there is a small chance you'll get a "Conch Clash", which just rewards the winning team with either 1, 10, or 33 conch shells.
And 10x, 100x, and 333x times battles now reward you with conch shells too, which just makes it even funnier that they decided to add times battles to mirror matches
My only concern with this is, if you get the equivalent of a 100x match in a mirror match does it take away your Festival Shells like a normal 100x does?
Imagine grinding 10x for Festival Shells to get a 100x/333x for your team only for them to get taken from you in a mirror match

Imagine you are fighting someone and all the sudden the big bubbler inks your feet and blocks your teammates from helping you. That is honestly a pretty good buff for frontline weapons with bubbler.

Honestly the bubble change is probably a good thing, given the fact you have to get all the way to zone to drop it to cheese, you can't do it from a mile away. In general this will just be a very nice QOL change for the bubble weapons
The slider buff is nice. It basically means that if someone is rushing you down or directly in front of you, there’s a chance that you can ink their feet and catch them - which will make it more like likely that they die. I like that

Honestly I love this patch, so many quality of life changes and some weapons got huge buffs that change a lot, reeflux got a huge and fun buff, tri stringer got a lot of help, ink vac got a great change, and there so many extra changes, like with splatfests that are great. Can't forget the stage changes. So happy with this and im excited for the season to release.
As a Jr. main, I say let Bubble meta commence!

Okay in all seriousness though: I think they did this to make it Harder to enter enemy bubblers. Before this when someone placed bubbler and the Edge of it touched Other colored ink you could Just swim through the bubbler without really showing yourself. Now this should be Harder. Buut it probably would have been better to only make it paint the beacon and the Edge.

I can’t believe my main (swig express) is now 190p! My favorite part of the patch for sure
I’m an H-3/H-3 D main who also uses Zimi quite frequently. At first I figured “oh yeah it’ll paint the inside of the bubble, that’s great for me!” And then once you said Jr can Zones cheese and Roller could get away even more with its Bubble shenanigans, I began crying.
L-3 damage buff and H-3 wall damage change are nice even if they’re small in the grand scheme of things
It does say routes 'into the centre', not routes out of the centre for Hammerhead so there's a chance they don't actually fix the map
Not the Zmini buff I was expecting (Big Bubbler buff), but I'm not going to complain!
Kinda shocked with all the indirect Splash Wall nerfs. Was the sub weapon really that problematic?
The only saving grace for bubble on zone is any zone with a grate over it could have a tiny bubble. Crableg is probably pretty safe and a few others have the chance for players to pop it in bad spots on accident.

im pretty sure the squeezer change is also meant to be an accessibility change for people who can't mash because their hands are injured. Like, my guess is that it's definitely a nerf and that it's gonna be like you just have to press a few times per second to reach max fire rate on that mode
