    Useless fact: the name
    Children Of Bodom comes from one of the most famous unsolved homicide cases in Finnish criminal history called Lake Bodom murders

    I personally love blooddrunk album that this is from..but I'd prolly never show someone their music for the first time from it...follow the reaper or hate crew deathroll or even are you dead yet would be much more fitting to show how insanely talented and amazing this band is. MY FAV BAND out of all dem bands in the world..

    • @Sinthoras_96
      @Sinthoras_96 Před 2 lety +1

      I agree. Especially if someone is not used to listen to metal music, Blooddrunk is quite a punch in your face as it is the most aggressive album.
      Mainstream listeners should start with Hatecrew, AYDY and Relentless as introductions.
      But when you got into their music, Blooddrunk is definitely top 5.

  • @SodiumPoisoning
    @SodiumPoisoning Před 3 lety +7

    My personal choice for introducing someone to Bodom would be "Are You Dead Yet?". It's how I got into them, found it on Limewire right about the time it was released as a single and never looked back. So fucking glad I got to see them live once. Still rock the band T I got there all the time.

    Alexi was the only hero to me. He was the reason I picked up guitar playing. Been listening full COB albums from the beginning but I've only managed to listen the 1st one fully. Had to stop in the middle of the 2nd. I'd always thought that one day I'll read the news that Alexi is dead but I did not expect it to be so soon. I was so stoked about his new band Bodom After Midnight and was raring to see them live later this year
    RIP Alexi

      Alexi was such a badass guitar player. I was mostly into punk music when I first saw Needled 24/7 on MTV2. Although I dabbled with some death metal like Death or At the Gates at the time, COB is what really furthered my interest into the genre. RIP Alexi.

      Agreed. Blooddrunk is nowhere near their best album, and doesn't necessarily show how talented Alexi really was. Also it doesn't really have any neo classical elements, which is one thing that helped Bodom gain notoriety.

    Actually I met Laiho's childhood friend. About 1 year ago, world is small. I was about to end my shift, and she noticed my COB shirt. And stared talk about metal music etc. And Roope Latvala also played in COB. Originally he played in Stone. And Stone made one song and at the same time Metallica made similar song and they had argument very long time. ( it's a rumor, and we never know)

    I don't think it's really settled in with me that he's truly gone. He's my absolute favorite modern metal guitar player. I think the only thing that kept COB from being absolutely huge are the vocals. Had they been a bit more melodic or clear (maybe more thrash than death/black), this music and playing is very accessible (as long as you are into metal). Hopefully the record company releases the completed tracks from Bodom After Midnight (Alexi's band after COB broke up); supposedly they had a few songs and a video completed.

    I'd be curious to know... how many people in this comment section originally learned about Children Of Bodom from Bam Margera/Viva La Bam? Or at least, Americans in the comment section. I know that was the first time I heard them, along with plenty of other bands he featured on the show.... hearing them just brings back major middle school/early high school nostalgia.

      I'm American, but I first heard of them when my friends in high school showed me Bed of Razors, Downfall, and Towards Dead End. Wasn't till years later when I hear them on viva la bam. I liked em much more when they has the neo classic elements, before they got super heavy.

    Also, you're talking about a band that completely changed its style throughout the years..something wild and hatebreeder are so dark and neoclassical, strong hints of black metal, so the atmosphere is amazing. Then after that the production kicks it up for the next couple albums and blows everyone away in musicianship to their degrees of solos what not..then they get more song n riff oriented with are you dead yet and blooddrunk, but Are you Dead Yet is a MUCH better album..again, if tho I love blooddrunk still, aydy is still the very top of their game while blooddrunk isn't exactly.
