    I think this just highlights why having a bigger, less stressed engine is more ideal if you do a lot of motorway stuff. Small engines are almost at full load at motorway speed, and therefore aren't any more efficient on a cruise than an engine twice as big.

      True, but 20 years ago with naturally aspirated engines. With todays high torque turbo engines, the smaller ones are more efficient.

      True. My E87 118i with the N46B20 engine drinks 10.7 to 10.8 litres per 100 kilometres as per the trip computer. It's mind boggling.

    the consumption at 200km/h is the only one i need to know :D would be good to see also real consumption in sport/hard driving out of city

    How the hell do you get that? Hahah. Mine is around 10L/100km combined driving. I've never tested it just on a highway and Ive changed the bottom to not show instantaneous fuel consumption because then I felt bad accelerating. I changed it to the m modes 🤣

    Can you also do this test for cars with the S63 engine? (M5, M6, M8...)

    In the uk my m4 comp gets 28 mpg this different types of driving combined

  • @ruimpinho
    @ruimpinho Před 2 lety +6

    I am genuinely impressed. I thought the average would be around 14-16L on normal (non-aggressive) driving conditions.

      what people sometimes forget is that even big modern engines are way more efficient than older maybe even smaller engines

    • @martinwiatr42
      @martinwiatr42 Před 2 lety +1

      These are motorway cruise control figures. Mix consumption (if don’t go too hard on the throttle) would be around 11-14L/100Km. But if you were to floor it every day then 20+ (sky is the limit) ;)

    • @ruimpinho
      @ruimpinho Před 2 lety +5

      @@martinwiatr42 Sure, most likely around 12-15 for mixed/sports driving. Still, the ability to do road trips at under 10L is amazing for a 400+ hp sports car.
