  • In this video, my pal Andrew ‪@Railin10‬ and I are fishing up in Wisconsin!
We are fishing a small creek, and we stumble upon a CLEAR WATER STORM DRAIN that literally has tons of massive fish swimming in it! Watch as one of these monsters eats my spinner!

Those fish may have already spawned but are still instinctively trying to swim upriver. I'm not sure how long they live after spawning but these ones sure had some life in them and there may well be fish that still need to spawn that could successfully reproduce if they can travel farther to find suitable habitat. That creek looks like a good candidate for salmon habitat restoration and the first step is getting rid of those drains and replacing them with modern fish passage culverts. Are there any agencies aware of this area and working on it?

Nah dude. You're right on. The fish follow the flowing water tho. Any way they can move upstream they will. Unfortunately there was a long period where we didn't build these structures with the spawning migration in mind so we have a lot of old dams and stoppages that don't allow them any further. I suspect these structures were old enough in your area to be replaced by more modern ones that allow the fish to move up. Unfortunately even when we try we still prevent the whole process from occurring. We need to work to restore these waterways so these magnificent fish can thrive once more.

They don't live there. They move up to spawn and die. They live in huge water bodies for most of their lives.

If they're there, and they are alive, then they are living there dude.

These are ocean (SALT WATER) dwelling fish at the end of their life returning to the place where they hatched. They ARE NOT a fresh water fish and you can tell just by the hooked mouths and the horrible condition that they are in that they are spawning salmon. It shocks me how very few people seem to know what is going on here.

@@kennyhollidayjr5206 These are NOT a fresh water fish DUDE. This is a Salmon and it is dying, which is really understood by looking at it's mouth and the horrible condition of it's body. These fish when caught in their NATURAL habitat (the ocean) are A brIght shiny silver. The amount of insurance displayed here is disappointing but not surprising DUDE.

They're secret places in Washington I fishes with 4 to 6lb test catching them. During there spawning time they'll strike because of the irritation. Great catch and thank you sir for sharing. Awesome 👌 fish!!

Should be easy to check that one off. Just get there and do it. This bite happens every year, for several months, and even after hard water comes.
