    We haven’t used an outdoor faucet for the 11 years we’ve lived in our house. I finally got fed up with it, watched your video, and a quick trip to the hardware store later it’s working perfectly!! Thank you!!

    Can't thank you enough for sharing this video! It's exactly what I needed to do with my faucet. The only difficult part of the job was finding the part I needed. No surprise that the greedy big box home improvement stores only sell the entire faucet assembly, and their staff laugh at the idea that a tiny part inside is all that is needed to fix the problem - but fortunately the trusty neighborhood hardware store wins again. Again, greatly appreciated!

    Hi Brian, 45 year old lady here who considers herself fairly handy in the home repair realm. Now that spring has arrived up here in Canada I went to turn on the outdoor faucet. NO WATER!?! My other outdoor faucets worked and the water to that tap wasn't closed off. What the heck? Time to You tube! lol. Your video was the first to come up and although my assembly was a bit different I knew exactly what to do thanks to you. I removed the inner rod and saw nothing but a spring on the end, hmmm. I went down and turned on the water to see if anything flowed now that nothing was inside the tap. Sure enough, there was water now. Plus on the ground now was the little end piece similar to in your video. It had become disconnected and left behind in the pipe. I actually just pushed it back on the rod and replaced everything to see if it still worked and it works beautifully. I'm going to keep my eyes open for a replacement valve just in case this happens often and the part is worn out. Thanks so much, I feel like a DIY pro today.

    I have an inside valve right behind the wall. It is easy to empty the water in the pipe from the inside valve to the outside faucet (by shutting down the valve first and then turning on the faucet), so that there is nothing to freeze. Why my house still had a 'frost free faucet' installed? It does not make sense to me. Moreover, I cannot figure out how the 'frost free faucet' works, despite quite bit researches and readings -- if the rubber tip (Bibb Washer) worn out, why the problem is 'no water' instead of leaking?

    • @ThatFixItGuy
      @ThatFixItGuy  Před 3 lety

      So the way they are build them with the longer stem manufactures build them different down at the washer end. The assembly at the bottom could be popped off the long shaft. I have had this happen to me.

Is there some type of tool that can attach to the spigot that extends up so he can easily turn off/on? It's just a standard 4 in. Anti-Siphon Sillcock Frost Free Outdoor Faucet. I was thinking of attaching like a metal yard stick to the turn off/on knob some how so he could turn it left and right as needed. I hope this makes sense. I hope even more someone knows of something. Thanks!!

    I have an American Valve M72AS. It's the second outside hose bibb and I'm getting no water coming out of it, but the other one works just fine. From what I'm seeing inside I don't have separate shut off valves for them, they both have the same shut off. So this makes me wonder if the problem is what your describing in the video. Nothing comes up when doing a search for a springless check assembly for American Valve. Will I need to replace the entire hose bibb?

    My faucets work, but if I shut off the inside valves for winter, (we have low pressure here, like 50 to 60 psi), when I turn them on in summer, it takes about 5 minutes for flow. Is that because air is in the lines?
    It happens also if unused for a while, too. These are new faucets, and neighbors have same problems. Am I right, or are new faucets defective?

    • @ThatFixItGuy
      @ThatFixItGuy  Před 3 lety +1

      How far away is the shut off valve from the faucet itself? That seems like a long time. 50-60 psi is pretty good water pressure. If they don't leak and function properly I would not think they are defective. Would be interested to know how it is plumbed for sure.

      @@ThatFixItGuy You are talking over my head. The water goes to both faucets, but not copper pipes. The look like a garden hose. That goes to a shutoff valve on each faucet (up or down lever).
      All indoor water connections are blue heavy duty hoses, like you'd find on a washing machine. It's definitely within code, as my last home had that as well.

    • @ThatFixItGuy
      @ThatFixItGuy  Před 3 lety

      Yeah I’m sure it is pex pipe. Most homes are built with it these days. I would think you are fine. I bet it is just the way the plumber ran the water pipes is why it takes so long. If the faucets work and there are no leaks I would say good to go. 5 minutes is a long time though for sure.

      Thomas that is a great question. The meter boxes in our area that stay the cleanest tend to be one with root structure around them. Grass or some kind of ground covering plant. You would want to use a plant that won’t take over but keeps the soil intact.
      Most boxes are put in landscaped areas and with all the rain they just fill in with dirt. I have the same issue and unfortunately my box is in the neighbors flower beds. I hope that helps.
