  • A list of NFL analysts ranked quarterbacks in a dozen different categories going into this season and to no surprise Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers Tom Brady were tops of many of them. Rodgers took the top spot over Brady in accuracy, decision making, and pocket presence. Meanwhile Brady was able to come out on top in mechanics, competitiveness, and field vision. Hear who Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe believe is the better quarterback.

Different decisions and different situations, Rodgers’ offense has been designed to be deep ball oriented since he started. Brady has been in a conservative offense that doesn’t take as much time to develop bc they’re quick routes like slants, drags, and outs. Rodgers’ decision making is mostly ball placement and choosing when to run/throw away. That’s why he doesn’t turn the ball over that much. And Brady’s decision making is mostly progression based, which is why he’s usually among the most efficient on 3rd down like Roethlisberger.

Arians’ system is one of the most complex, pass heavy systems in the league. QB’s like Palmer, Winston, and even Brady were turnover machines under BA. If we talk about ball placement Brady hit the throws he needed to, where Rodgers undoubtedly did phenomenal but didn’t make enough correct decisions as Brady did to win the game for GB.

Rodgers is a marginally better passer than Tom Brady is, like if you were going to rate both on a scale of 100, Rodgers would be like a 99 and Brady would be a 98, the difference is negligible.
What really matters is that Aaron Rodgers is not even close to being in the same universe as Tom Brady when it comes to leadership skills, which people always ignore. Brady is not just a GOAT-level passer, he is also a GOAT-level leader not just in NFL history, but in all of team sports. On a leadership scale Brady would be a 100 and Rodgers would be like a 25. Rodgers is closer to Jay Cutler when it comes to leadership intangibles than he is to Tom Brady. With less than half a minute left in the half, Brady drops back on 3rd down and 2. An unblocked pass rusher gets to him so he throws the ball to avoid a sack. It nearly gets picked, but doesn’t. Avoiding this sack allows the bucs to go for it on 4th and 2, and a few plays later they score a TD as the half expires.
Rodgers drops back on 3rd down, and feels the pressure. He takes a sack and his team then punts, and the bucs get the ball 30 yards downfield from where the 3rd down play started. This has no impact on his passer rating
Brady drops back on 3rd down, and another unblocked pass rusher gets through. Brady throws it up, and it gets picked, 30 yards downfield. This drops his passer rating by 15 points.

Only to be beat out by the team with a better defense 4 times. Brady won't wow you, but he's strategic and confident. Patient. His tight spiral allows his throws to be pushed with a lot of velocity and lack of injuries allowed him to play longer than guys like peyton and drew. Let's compare apples to apples. Let's lift an 11 year chunk of their careers and compare side by side. Brady became a starter in 2001 and Rodgers in 2008, which was Brady's injured season. Let's delete all their seasons prior to 2009. Let's look at both careers concurrently starting at 2009 up to 2019 so they are both in the same teams that drafted them, Patriots and Packers, and evaluate their accomplishments in an 11 year timespan.
Brady = 3 SB wins in 5 SB appearances, 9 AFCC appearances, 16 playoff wins, 2 MVPs, 2 SB MVPs
Rodgers = 1 SB win in 1 SB appearance, 5 NFCC appearances, 10 playoff wins, 3 MVPs, 1 SB MVP
    Edge: Brady
Other than Rodgers having one more MVP award than Brady, all other metrics points to Brady having a better postseason career in that 11 year timespan. And if you add Brady's remaining careers prior to 2009 and after 2019, you are looking at a staggering achievement in all of sports. AND he's not done!

7-8 is team play, i hate when they bring record into play for individual players. They only play one side of the ball in football. Little control compared to an impact player in soccer or football

People need to stop saying Mahomegirl couldn't get protection in the superbowl, he was to ignorant to bring in extra protection or auidble to runs because he was more worried about flashy show off plays and his stats than winning the game, that's why he lost the superbowl Shannon, its on him and Reid, period.

How can a QB be the better quarterback when he doesn't win superbowls? The amount of talent in the NFL is practically equal if you compare the top talent on each team, not by position, but as a number of top performers in their position as compared to the number of top performers on other teams. That makes the NFL fairly even across the board. Rogers has had good teams, Brady has had good teams, it all washes out. The QB drives culture and performance.

How could Aaron be a better QB? Only by ignoring some of the variables in measuring QBs.
