- Found this monstrosity on the waterfront in Kuching, Sarawak and had to buy it. Little did we know it was a local treat and the locals loved us getting involved with what Borneo has to offer. A banana Made for plenty of laughs 🍌😂

First time seen that type of banana eaten raw in my life. Locals (in Peninsular Malaysia) eat it as fried bananas, or made into banana crackers. Sometimes cooked in palm sugar as a dessert.

It is a type of cooking banana. Can be found in Africa too. You can deep fry it, pan fry or steam it for 5 minutes. Tastes sweet after being cooked. It tastes a bit tart if eaten raw.
Plantains are too a staple food in many south american countries, here in mine (Venezuela) we take the green ones that are not ripe yet, slice them and flatten the sclices with a hammer, and fry them until they are crunchy. They are also common ingredients in many types of soups and broths.
this is usually for frying as sliced banana fritters , its called plantain i believe..its a cooking banana , in africa its part of their staple food
pisang tanduk - local rarely eat the fresh pisang tanduk. they just dip in the batter and deep fry it. then u have banana fritter.

the big banana was only used to make banana fritters, sliced thinly and fried. thats why the locals are surprised and find it was funny to see that banana eaten raw like that btw.

Amazing. Yeah it is damn funny. In the peninsula, the largest is called pisang tanduk but i believe this is pisang tanduk but looks massive
We local called this banana is "pisang tanduk"..
It usually use to make pisang goreng " fried bananas"

We use that type of banana to make fritters (cucur in malay)..by cutting it in slice about 1 inch per pcs..hahaha ..local never eat it like that..look weird ...btw...hav fun!!

I usually cut this banana into small pieces and make porridge, cook in coconut milk and brown sugar or gula melaka..... yummy.
Normally people use that for banana fritter n not just eating that's what made it funny for us hope you enjoy your stay anyway quick question how did it taste 🤣🤣
