  • Just two decades ago, RC helicopters were almost unattainable due to their high cost and almost unflyable due to their inherent instability. But that all changed about 15 years ago.
The E-flite Blade CX was introduced in late 2005 as an easier-to-fly alternative to E-flite's Blade CP, also introduced in 2005. The CX is an entry level, ready-to-fly electric micro RC helicopter designed and distributed by E-flite, a division of Horizon Hobby of Champaign, Illinois, USA:

The Picoo Z, a tiny 10-gram 2-channel electric helicopter from Silverlit Toys, was released in the summer of 2006, and was an instant hit. This little heli was also sold under the brand name of Air Hogs Havoc Heli in North America:

My RC helicopter adventure started with the Air Hogs Reflex 3-channel helicopter back in 2007, which also sparked and fueled the whole electric RC aircraft obsession with me. This little electric RC heli was a present from my younger cousin Asena (whom I refer to as my little brother), so you can say that he is the cause of all this craziness today! I had so much fun with this little heli that I ended up getting a used E-flite Blade CX2 later, and the rest is history...
However, I never fully got into RC helicopters... that is, until now! I have been flying RC airplanes for over a decade, but I have been practicing on and gaining experience with helicopters only in the last year or so. My goal for 2022 is to get to a level to be able to do flips on small 3D helicopters without crashing. I also would like to get to a level where I will be able to fly my three old, non-stabilized, collective-pitch (CP) RC helicopters without destroying them (because by now they are antiques, and I would like to keep them as mantel pieces after successfully achieving my goal).
This WLtoys V912 is going to be one of my steppingstones on my journey of becoming a better RC helicopter pilot. Thanks to its larger size, I can fly it outdoors in light winds, which will give me more freedom to try out new maneuvers that I cannot implement indoors.
I purchased this helicopter from Banggood in bind-and-fly (BNF) version for US$48.18 shipped to my door, with the intention to pair it with my RadioMaster TX16S and Jumper T-Lite OpenTX transmitter. Unfortunately, my binding efforts failed, so I ended up purchasing a WLtoys transmitter for it from AliExpress for another US$30.41. Later I found out that I needed to update the firmware on my TX16S in order to get it work, but that is a story for another video.
In this video, I am doing the unboxing of the WLtoys V912, binding it to the WLtoys transmitter, and performing a short indoor flight test. In the next video, I will be flying it outdoors to test its full flight envelope and capabilities, which I could not do indoors due to its larger size.
Thank you very much for watching. I hope this review was fun and informative for you. If you liked it, please hit that like button and consider subscribing to our channel, so you do not miss the upcoming videos. Enjoy the RC hobby and stay safe and healthy.

I have not flown mine yet!.. but I hope to soon, now that we are getting some decent weather here in the UK
I now feel a bit more confident to take my first flight.
    Thanks again.. John 🚁🚁😎

Hi John. Thank you! However, I crashed it during the first outdoor flight in the wind, so be reserved with your maiden and don't be me! :)
In any case, I fixed it easily and cheaply, so I will be posting another flight video soon. Stay tuned!

What i don't like about this one is, when you fly a bit agressive, the flybar will hit the canopy!!

Hi Rene. I did not have that issue yet, but I can imagine. Also, the flybar is not as good as new gyros for leveling the helicopter when you center the right control. It needs to be flown a bit more carefully compared to 6G gyro-equipped helis.

Hi Manith. Thank you for your kind words. We used to have Props & Wheels gift giveaways open to international subscribers as well. However, we had too many issues with international shipping, we unfortunately stopped doing it. Sorry... :(
