I knew it was going to be near Bozeman.
I visited Big Sky as a teenager. Went to Yellowstone, whitewater rafting, horseback riding, ghost towns, etc. Cool experience. Funny thing I remember is it was 4th of July, we watched fireworks at the base of the mountain next to the golf course and it was 42 degrees outside! 😂
It's beautiful there but not without growing pains. Even old entry level condos near the meadow village area have very expensive monthly HOA fees and like clockwork they increase every year. There's a shortage of groundwater and they have a sewage problem. At times it floods the Gallatin River. I think the plan was to use more sewage treated water for snow pack. Speaking of plans, the planning leadership group goals are full-on growth. I recall leadership had strong ties with the resort. And look out for traffic jams in the mornings/evenings as the hired help, cement trucks, etc commute through the one main entrance/exit. Of course there aren't enough places to eat so be ready to eat pizza and deli sandwiches for lunch/dinner. Not enough reasonably priced homes for the service sector to live so businesses reduce hours of operation and try to get by with being understaffed. There's also a local resort sales tax. Probably not what Chet Huntley originally envisioned.
