Im one of the lucky few people to know how/where to find these in nature, my dad showed me, we've dug into "nests"(for lack of a better word) and found dozens of them, one time we dug in and all the pupal cases had fully formed beetles in them, i have a picture of me with about 20 fresh beetles, and lots of good photos, i love the little hairs they have on the tops of their butts! We always put them back and cover them up with sticks and bark so they dont get dug up by racoons. I found a pupal case one time that was about ⅓ normal size, unfortunately the larva inside was dead, my guess was malnutrition

So we killed the ones we found where we werr digging (work stuff) but the thing is that this ones we kill(ed) aren't the same species that the video shows, but made me remember because the larva, except for a black head instead of a red one and of course the size, is really similar. The colors and form in the different stages of growth, the position and the looking of it it's just so similar!
