    the issue was the velcro straps, that water slide is just like a Rollercoaster. Rollercoaster rides don't use velcro straps and also water degrades the hold and efficiency of velcro.

      I looked at some of the headrests in later pov videos and it looked like the foam around where the seatbelt started was eroding

      Using velcro is nothing short of moronic on a ride like this. I cannot believe so many actually rode this death trap before it finally happened.

    I noticed one thing in common with each of the various CZcams videos I've seen of people on this ride. The "seatbelt" that latches on the right side, is often shredded, and you can see that when the belt has come off, they have stuffed it in again, but not at the correct place. It is always a little bit forward of where it was originally. So, it cannot be safe for the next person riding in that seat if their seatbelt is just hinged in a new place.

    Hook & Loop cheaper then seat-belts... we'll use them instead. Scale is broken and we can't weigh folks... we'll guess in the mean time. "The Show Must Go On"... our wallets and purses depend on it....

      I know!!....WTF?!?!....They really thought Velcro would hold up in water????....Greedy bastards only care about the money!

      +Rachel E. Thanks for the back-up, Rachel. To add insult to injury (no pun intended), VELCRO doesn't hold up in dry conditions, much less wet conditions! I smell a much warranted lawsuit! The sad fact though is that a lawsuit won't bring the little boy back.

      +Sealust50 No kidding! What were they thinking with Velcro??? It barely holds up in ideal conditions! We know what they were thinking, it's cheap! Some one needs to be held accountable!.....but the poor family, to have to relive the event throughout a lawsuit...My heart goes out the them!

    Broken scale, broken straps. Cheese grater for a containment net. Not good for Schlitterbahn. Not good for Caleb.

    They should of installed rollercoaster like wheels on the rafts and track on the slide and used airplane seatbelts it would prevent rafts from going airborne because the wheels would be like you see on an upside down rollercoaster

      I feel that the former schillterbahn owners are going to hate the aqua man water coaster coming to Six flags as it looks to be a waterslide/coaster done right

  • @TheAndroid360

    velcro strapes???? for an aggressive waterslide? who came up with that fuckery?

    • @thinkforyourself1556
      @thinkforyourself1556 Před 8 lety

      The owners didn't want to pay for the proper restraints so they went cheap with velcro straps.

  • @Laurendoesflips

    Velcro seatbelts and people going 70mph! That’s how fast dollercoasters go and they have heavy duty harnesses. How did they not think to have an engineer or someone with actual technical training to design safety?

    • @kendrahouck984
      @kendrahouck984 Před 4 lety +1

      Industry standard for this type of ride is a rigid over the should type of harness. At the time Kansas law did NOT require parks to adhere to any safety standard. This is also why it was able to still run without a functioning scale.
      The parks owners used their own internal company to design snd test the ride after multiole engineers told them it was a bad idea. The engineer they hired to "inspect" the ride right before opening wrote in his report and told the owners the ride was unfinished and unsafe, he also suggested when the ride was done to have a minimum age requirement of 16. Instead of listening the park opened the slide as it was with a few minor tweaks and dropped the age limit all together.

    Family should sue the park for their loss, people were testifying that the straps were loose. The parks spokes woman is lying her ass off! They put their guests at risk they should pay the consequences! !!!! That poor little boy!

    The ride has been going for ages - let's wait and see what the Investigation says - too many "experts" giving their opinions !!

    • @rachele.5301
      @rachele.5301 Před 8 lety +2

      The ride has not going for ages. It opened in 2014, and 2 different reports stated the ride had yet to be inspected by the state since opening. Roller costars and water slides can not run smooth 100% of the time(that is just probability), it was only a matter of time til someone was hurt or killed.....My heart goes out Caleb's family

    These idiot builders ruined the park for everyone. My son and I were so excited when the park opened cause it was close and we love water parks. Now it is defunct. Some ignorant egomaniac had kill a little boy to get the world record.
