Yes bro! It's better to build your own than buy it in a shop. I only spent 48$ in all .Price in shop is 300-500$
You don't need welding equipment! I built a power rack with just the metal, a drill, a few steel plates, corner braces, sheet metal screws, and nuts and bolts

Its easy bro.. try to build an example with wood. Then copy with metal. You need flat metal for the welds, and thick profile. So you can do more shit on it

I have done the same but its fully jam when weight are kept ..not evn a 5 kg weight.i use thread rope is this because of that..and suggest me the best rotating wheel..
Use a gym cable wire and gym pulley it's much better it's smooth and comfortable to use
