All loads DO NOT come with A to Z information for the driver on the shipping Bill. Just have a shipping bill that "represents" that current shipment. A lot of us are under "Forced Dispatch" and at times we only get a brief one-page document and you better have it.
That one-page will NOT read on driver knowledge for that shipment.
all of my weights were 99999 or 00000 and never overweight.
A lot of times these were "specialized loads" but not U.S. Government Hot Loads, which I have done. Some loads have abbreviations that DO NOT meet any Periodic, chemical or Metals Tables.
If you drive flatbed, permitted, auto-hauler, cattle-hauler, or a dedicated van then chances are you have never seen one of the loads.
Precious little dedicated's for Home Depot, Staples or similar running LA to Miami will not see one of these either. No one that has never seen one of these have a clue as to what I am talking about.

First trucks are pulled over randomly. If you are getting an inspection, no matter the level, and you present any red flags the DOT officers will pull you in ASAP. I went thru one on I-40 Westbound in northern arizona years ago & the d.o.t. officer sitting in the window of the building told me this: "let me see your registration, insurance & ifta card." Then she changed her mind & said: "as a matter of fact, just give me the entire permit book instead!!" I said here you go. She looked at every permit in my permit book & then gave it back to me & said: "you're good driver & continued safe travels!!" I said thank you officer & continued rolling. I had a shipper in texas try to send me out no bol locked trailer telling me it was just empty boxes. I got in a big argument with the shipper they kept telling me that they don't do bol and that the continent inside is just empty boxes . spent 2 hours going around in circles with them made them open the trailer prove what it was and made them print out a proper bol and I resealed the trailer with a company seal instead of their lock . mine was just empty boxes but I didn't care I called my company and explained it to them. I never went back there again the shipper was trying to say that they have never given a bol to a driver and that they lock the trailer with their own lock to prevent people from stealing the boxes. the first thing out of my mouth was that is not how this works and your going to open that ish up or i am going to drop and leave. I couldn't believe how dumb that shipper was.

Not all bill of ladings tell you what you are carrying. This is particularly true of high value loads. On high value loads you are not to tell anyone what you are carrying. Often they will not tell you the driver what you are carrying. In the cases where I am carrying high value loads they tell me the load has a value in excess of 1 million dollars but the BOL is in code so I do not know what the load is and my dispatcher does not know what the load is.

This a common problem especially with freight coming off of the railroad ports. Over seas freight most often Shipps with no BOL or even packing list. Your company should fax you a BOL or they should have a shipment booklet so you can right up your own BOL. But, you can by BOL’s in the truck stop and write them up yourself as well. I had this issue one times during the dot world not take my company trip sheets as a BOL which is pretty standard dealing with railroad freight. They keep saying no boil of lading but the had to finally except it. Then of course they busted open my seal even I told what was supposed to be in the sealed container. To their surprise, it contained just what I said it did and they had to reseal the load. Of course, because they found no dope, they gave me a level 3 inspection just to save face, found nothing wrong and let me go.

Not going in there. He passes me the paperwork and goes halfway down the page, says dioxin. Thats a load of agent orange.
I took a few steps back, and the officer who was trying to make captain by midnight climbs in anyways. The officer on the ground with me lights a cigarette and says to the guy in the trailer, if you want kids with only one head maybe don't open those barrels.

The description can use numbers to describe but a phone number has to be on the bill for the officer to call unless it's a hazmat load. If you do not have a key to the lock, the officer can detain you until a key is provided or the driver or carrier or customer gives permission to cut the lock. Even if you have no bills. Unless they assume there is harm or you are transporting something you should not. Know the rules and regs.

@perofish yep and I did explain it to someone that was upset with me. I shouldn't reminisce on here..nor share my opinion since I am not a trucker, just married to one who delivered pipe for oil rigs years ago when the dinosaurs ruled the earth. I will stick with my profession, former deputy, first woman to run for sheriff in my state and raising hades in the courtroom on numerous subjects. God bless all the truckers and their families and keep them mentally, physically and spiritually safe. In Jesus name I pray. So be it!

I hauled three loads one being from Arizona and two from Dallas.
    On all three loads there was nothing to identify what was in the trailer for driver knowledge. All three loads went to Lakeland florida. I have hauled other loads that only had short abbreviations for product identity on the shipping bill. None of those abbreviations were common. Also, on the three loads from Arizona and Dallas? All three loads read as follows;
Weight 99999 or 00000. Again, no identity made as to the product and/or numbers of pieces or pallets.
Shipping bill read from name/address of shipper to name/address of Receiver.
Give you one guess who shipped and who received.

He knew. There is a major problem with drivers lying. I had one block me in and claimed his trailer was broken.....right up until law enforcement came and he drove off. Only to be stopped 2 miles down the road. I call bunk on the BS that drivers are pulling out here.

I have taken a trailer with a lock the previous driver forgot to take off. Those issues by themselves do not indicate a violation of law. You need more.

Yeah, that can happen. I think his actions & not having the bill of lading is what ultimately got him in trouble. You have to either have a bill.of lading physically with you or a digital copy of it on your smartphone & the bill.of lading has to be legible & in english;or they can mess with you over it!!

Doesn't matter what, if any, indicators there are. They can search any trailer for any reason. Or no reason. It's not a personal vehicle.

Why don’t drug runners just make fake bills of lading?

I haul cars. I create my own BOL, load and secure the vehicles by myself, unload the cars by myself, and 90% of the time no one signs anything when I pick up or deliver the cars.

Last I checked, you’re required to have these items. It is what it is. You might not agree with it, but that doesn’t matter if you agree or not. Doesn’t matter if “this ain’t right”. You have to have the BOLS. You just do. Does not matter if you think it’s right or wrong.
