- Analyses previous years's paper in university exam , political thoughts, especially Republicanism of Machiavelli based on his seminal creation 'The Discourse on Livy'. His thoughts on role of Religion in politics is also discussed. An attempt has also been made to interpret his political thoughts in the contexts of times of his writings.This is part one of the two part video series on Machiavelli for undergraduate students of Political Science.

As far as I think about Machiavelli's works the Prince and Discourse. In the the Prince he explain his contemporary political rule, because that time political circumstances were very unstable that's whatever he seen he wrote. But his discourse explains that a human rule should be such as. So even Machiavelli could not able to understand philosophical facts.

Sir I have some doubts....Machiavelli ke thought Kautilya se bohot milta julta hein lekin Machiavelli Kautilya ke hbt bad ye sab thoughts diye hein but Kautilya's political thoughts are not get recognize universally till now..... Me jab ye Western and Indian political thought padhta hoon aksar mere man mein ye thought ata hein ki western political thinkers mein ase thought/theory kese aa sakte hein bina kisi prevailing thoughts ko dekhte huye?? Jab ki hamare India me Kautilya Or usse age vi bht kuch political thoughts thee( eg- class system which turned into caste system later) Plato ke jo Ideal state ka class division hein usse india ka ye class system similar hein... Aur India mein boht purane dino se ye sab thee (some thoughts that history also couldn't reach) ..... Another one is jese Karl Marx ka socialism hein... Mujhe personally nhi lagta ki Marx khud socialism ke bare mein soch paya.....hamare India me ye socialism system Tribal community me boht age se thee. So, sometimes I feel that the whole Western thoughts are borrowed from India (matlab political thoughts ke primary foundation ye basis hamare yaha se liya geya hein aur unhiko wo log apne tarike se pesh kiya hein)
wpt suffer frm eurocentrism, we shud not fell prey to such parochialism, and ethnocentrism

In my Opinion 'Sabine' was one of the major critic of Machiavelli not admirer.....

Machivaelli has been such charchter that it is not very easy to find his direct admirer....as I could understand, despite his critical views on many of the thoughts of Machiavelli, Sabine was also his admirer. Today also I have browsed net for this and found the following excerpts:

"In the worsds of Sabine: "The purpose of politics is to preserve and increase

but can understand ur confusion...at many places u wud read sabine as his critic....in politics, actually, nothing is in black and white, many grey shades u will find...so is with Sabine's view of Machiavelli...
