- Have you ever tried racing with tires in the Philippines!? Well there is a traditional game called "Kariling" that a lot of Filipino kids will play on the streets and in the countryside. This game involves racing a tire and pushing it with a stick device...

In Tangub City, Mindanao they just had their first ever "Paligid sa Ligid Competition" as part of their Sobramesa Summer Fair. It was such a beautiful and uplifting event!

This is awesome! I'm 30 and I grew up in a very rich and developed country, yet we were always outside playing from when we got home from school till it was night. I'm sad to see the kids nowadays stay inside using their phone, iPad or computer instead and I can't help but feeling society is going in the wrong direction. We might be getting richer and richer but people are so much more stressed, depressed and feeling lonely. Filipinos in rural areas like this might be poor but they always seem to be enjoying life and be happy and after all isn't that what life is all about? Being happy and making other people happy. Feeling love and making other people feel loved. I hope Philippines don't change.

jonalyn solis so did I 😁 I often come home covered in mud. My mother didn't get mad, she just gave me a shower and gave me some new cloth. Kids nowadays in my country just stay inside 😞
it reminds me of my childhood doing these things everyday during vacation time... I'll go home smell like carabao 😂😂that exact word that my mother will call and tell me..maligo kana ang baho mo amoy Kang kalabaw..and saddest part is that now that i have my own children they're not even interested to try this..

I'm teary eyed watching this video because I used to play "paligid" when I was a kid. I remembered we race near our grandpa's barn, not knowing that my grandpa tied his carabao around the barn and me accidentally trip the roof and got injured. When I was a kid, I loved showering in the rain with my cousins. When I vacationed there a few years ago, that's the first thing I did when it rained. Felt like a kid again. Ayus!
We are always playing in the rain. I wash the motorcycle, rooftop, rugs, etc. It's refreshing, cleansing. Ya know what is more dangerous than the rain? Stressing about the rain! kulay that's how you call the real game I live here Norwalk Connecticut USA and kids here in America do not have any idea how to be a real kid, everything is all computer sometimes I see that kids now don't know how to use their brain only to know what button they press in the key board those are the kinds of toys I used to play with very lucky then if my mom will cook sardines very happy I have to make the can as my car ha ha ha those were the days love your videos, enjoyed every single one of them thanks again.

Most of these kids come from families who live from wage to wage barely scraping by, most of the time the kids dont eat enough that their development/growth are stunted.
You can notice this as most kids from well to do families grow taller than kids their age who grow up in the rural areas.
Plus most of these kids also help with their family's farm which also contributes to no fat buildup.
I must saying im envious of this pure simple fun.
Tire racing love my childhood. 17 years ago me my brother and my best buddies are racing in our local park. Miss those days.

Cool Kyle, that the children participate without being pushed and how the adults support them! Wow that's cool! We use to do that as kids on my reservation but it was with vehicle tires you run along side it and see how long you can keep it balanced!!😘😂
You're right, that was fun! Brings back memories from my childhood days in Sampaloc, Manila. Not everyone could afford buying cool toys--bikes, toy cars, skateboards, etc. so kids then were creative and inventive. We'll just look for old tires, clean it up and the race begins using our hands. I was such a tomboy then, haha! I only had brothers and male cousins growing up. 😀😊
I think these toys are the coolest! Especially when everyone gets together for races! So FUN!
