This is what I lived for when I was a kid! Every Saturday afternoon, I'd watch the "Professional Bowlers Tour" on ABC Sports, and watch my favorite bowlers compete. I still watch the pros every now and then on ESPN Sundays... so great to see some of my favorites still competing past 50 years old! And lest I forget... Rest in peace, Chris Schenkel!
Dave and Steve Ferraro owned and ran Midcity lanes in Kingston ,New York . I bowled on Sunday nite mixed with my brother and great friends for over ten years. Dave was a real down to earth person and great bowler. His father was a great bowler of his times also. I miss those days and Dave should have not been robbed of that second strike and not have 2 pins standing. That would have been a turning point in Dave's life . Dave where ever you are brother , I hope you're rolling strikes!
Brings back some great memories. My first bowling ball was the Johnny Patraglia LT-48. So nice to see Mark Roth in action again, he was my favorite when i was learning the game. I met him at the old King Louie Tournament in Kansas City, he was gracious with his time and also signed the tournament program for me.
My father golfed with mark Roth at Whitevale golf club 3 years before Mark had his stroke. Cliff Thorburn used to golf a lot with my father they both live/lived on the same street in Unionville. My father died Cliff is still alive.
The real classic is the gutterball heard around the world at 45:18 when Del Ballard Jr. hands the title to Pete Weber because he rolled a gutterball for absolutely no reason what so ever!

I was a 4 time national champion in YBC and bowled in the men's majors at April Lanes. Chuck Park was a better bowler than me in 5 pin. Not many others were.
45:18 This video also includes Del Ballard Jr. and what I call "The gutterball heard around the world"! The time he deliberately rolled a gutterball for no reason and handed the title to Pete Weber!
Back in the day many did both and still do today daveydork0... if you check it out, there are many sports stars that are avid bowlers. My point is when you try to define cool... you ain't cool.

@Austin Weston Not the garbage Fox has, "he went for a burger and fries and came home with steak and potatoes. "
From 1964 to date, I watched all these shows live. I was 10 yrs old and started in league in 1964.

Chris Schenkel and Bo Burton, I loved watching these guys grow up. Every Saturday I looked forward watching the tour. Not quite the same now....
Randy Pedersen ruined bowling as the world's worst commentator.
Bo was the next best second generation bowler besides Pete Weber.
45:18 With the gutterball heard around the world!
By: Del Ballard Jr.
Mark Roth made history. He made it look so fun.
Love how everyone is genuinely happy for him, 300 .
3858 5 man team series is just nuts!! This a 257 average per player for the day..talk about on fire!!
Haven't watched this since I wore out Dad's VHS copy. Sweet.
Still a classic! Love it! Thanks for the upload!

Bowling was a great TV sport. It remains a great sport.
One of the oldest televised sports, due to the camera limitations at the time, that’s why Boxing and pro wrestling were popular back then.

Ball players will always be cooler than bowlers. Always

If you watch the Mark Roth 710 split pickup he actually fouls over the gutter
