  • Got that sinking feeling since the Water Mod 3.0 update? Finding your battleship develops an affinity for the bottom of the sea after very little damage? This one is for you.
    After many hours building and much testing since the major rework of Water Mod by Jakaria, I wanted to share some helpful tips and tricks for building warships for Water Mod 3.0+.

    Great guide and explanation of the new mechanics!
    I was thinking of including this in a new moded survival game for some added variety, looks fun to play with but definatley seems more complex than v2.0.
    This really helped me understand exactly how to get things working. Much appreciated mate!

      Thank you very much 12fishcake. Glad you found it a useful resource. Will be amazing when/if Keen can get full voxel water flow working eh.

      @@macsgamingandvr that would be great, many shenanigans would be had for sure. Waterfalls and rivers would be sweet, plus I love breaking water physics in other games haha!

    I'm new to the water mod, but I'm having a lot of trouble trying to create an amphibious car. Not sure how to go about that.

    • @macsgamingandvr
      @macsgamingandvr  Před 2 lety +1

      Gday Nixeen, so what is happening when you enter the water? Is it sinking or capsizing? I can be more help if i know which... anyway a few quick tip for you that might help.
      You will have to build some hollow pontoons into the chassis set low on the vehicle and with a good amount of space between. Dont forget you must have an air vent in the floatation voids.
      Also this will be more or less difficult depending on how big the rover is and its cargo. Its going to have to be fairly light or very big to maintain enough buoyancy. The centre of gravity is generally much higher for a rover so keep that in mind too. This makes it very hard to do what you want in a neat little package. On the one hand your trying to make voids in the lower half of your build but at the same time you also trying to keep the centre of gravity down low (and hence put the weight in the same part of the craft as your voids). These two requirements are not easily compatible.
      Hit me up on discord if the above is of no help and we can try to nut it out..
      Alternately you could drive along the bottom of the sea and use jets to jump or hover over any depths you want to avoid.

      @@macsgamingandvr What I tried doing is making a big crew cabin, and it keeps me afloat, but I keep leaning to the left side. I try to balance things out, but its difficult. Also thrusters tip the car forwards and I dive down.

      @destroyerstar5674 Před 2 lety +1

      @@Nixeen tipping is caused by buoyancy center being off the center of mass or just general unbalance. You should rather have a few empty tanks (O2 or empty H2) or small oxygen bubbles near the wheels area to keep the car from spinning etc. Also keep in mind that you can easily stabilise the car using a gyroscope with override setting set to true.

      @@destroyerstar5674 I found tweaking the power also was helpful in keeping the slight bobbing for some ships where 100% power would remove that.

    Reading the changelog of the water mod is very boring so i stopped reading at some point. Your video is much more enjoyable and really helpfull. Thanks for sharing your experience

    Are submarines possible?

    • @macsgamingandvr
      @macsgamingandvr  Před rokem

      Thank you for the question Kgp. Have done a bit of preliminary testing and is definitely possible. There are a few issues and you will need to do some math or trail and error to get neutral buoyancy. There will be trade offs and compromises to be made depending on the type of sub you want. How you go about a ballast management system... Biggest issue is station keeping and working around inertial dampers wanting to push you above water. Maintaining balance can also be problem too (combat damage...). Think this is a great one for a video eh.
