BLACKPOOL BREAKING NEWS! Major Incident developing at the North Pier!!

- Blackpool police incident ongoing at North Pier as officers deal with man on railings near sea.
Around 15 Police cars are at The North Pier in Blackpool as a man around 40 years of age is surrounded.
The situation is still ongoing around 2.30pm today 02/07/24.
The tide is out at present and its around a 40 foot drop where the man is located.
Its a delicate situation at present, the man seems to be raving and not engaging with Police at this moment in time.
A cordon has been put in place around the Pier.
The situation remains ongoing.

Police turn up in droves if someone's nicked a packet of chewing gum. Not around for serious crimes.

Whose in charge, he should be charged with wasting police resources, how many policemen does it take to control this rubbish situation. As usual a lot of policemen with nothing to do, like answer other peoples needs.
15 Police cars for a man on railings??????????? So no crime being commited anywhere else in Blackpool, let alone lancashire, dear lord.
Look like they are over-funded if they can spare 15 cars for one incident like this.

Funny you say that as I watched a video the other day on CZcams about someone who was charged £4 for one small scoop of ice cream (£8 for two) on north pier who then declined
I loved Blackpool as a kid in the 80s,glad to have been there during its golden years, the last time i were there was 93 i think the big one was under construction, turned 18 and bought my first beer in the ballroom,great days.
What was the name of the roller coaster back in the 80s? Wasn't it the national something?
It was even better in the 60s when I was a kid. I remember seeing many famous people in shows there. Lulu, Ken Dodd, Cilla Black, Dusty Springfield. And many many more who's names I've forgot. Real shame whats happened to Blackpool!

Incident is: Someone did a runner without paying for their sticks of rock.
Utter waste of police resource. Two coppers could have stood there and waited until he chose to calm down. Also, no point whatsoever in such a big cordon.

Shirt fillers like in the security industry. We need good police and a proper copper. Not these jacket holders in the police.

If he was to then have a weapon on his person and proceeded to attack people, you will be saying there wasn't enough presence. He is more than likely known to them and high risk. It's also very possible the item he discarded is in the proximity, or other items they deem he might have and they need to preserve the scene. To outsiders it might look like a giant waste of time but they will have their reasons.
The police always have to give unlawful directives. There is no expectation of privacy in public, film away, however these authoritarian agents will section 50 you, and arrest you.

Sad to say I’m a Londoner who’s never been to Blackpool. As a child I do remember the excitement when Blackpool illuminations were turned on bc it was a big deal.

I lived in Blackpool 20 years ago and I was glad to leave!
Fun fact : you are legally allowed to walk through a police cordon. The only time you can be removed is if you interfere in an incident ie try to free someone being arrested or if there is a danger to life ie collapsing building or natural disaster.

Look up DPP v Morrison, passing the tape itself is not a crime but there are in fact other crimes you can commit by doing so. I'm not saying that applies to this situation but it is wrong to assume you can do as you like.
Blackpool is a dump in the 60s it was so much fun.

In the previous clip you can see one of the PCSO in high vis telling them to push the corden back after speaking to someone who I assume is the sergeant, she's just doing her job.

My mates and I went on 'holiday' to Blackpool back in 2012. It just dawned on me while watching this that the whole time we was there I never saw a police car

Paul the cordon was to keep people filming away. Which they are legal to do 😮
The police have no "legal" powers to stop or obstruct anyone, be it a journalist or just a member of the public from filming anything they can see when stood in a public area. The Association of Police Chiefs have issued those instructions to every force in the country but it seems that many officers just can't be bothered to remember them. I highlighted the word "legal", as often they will throw their weight about by threatening to arrest someone filming - that itself is a criminal offence.

I used to go to Blackpool as a kid in the 60s when you had to get there very early to get a spot on the beach, it was always packed with so many people that when I went to the tea hut with granddad you can bet we would have a job finding our way back to our family spot. I still love Blackpool but do not feel safe like I did back in the 60s.

I'm really sorry you feel that way now, but I can understand what you mean, to be fair if you are along the Prom then theirs always people around and its really safe, lots of families and people walking around so its not that bad, I know its had a bit of a bad write up lately but things are changing for the best. I do hope you manage to come back and you feel secure when/if you visit again, but you seem to have some wonderful memories of the place which is truly amazing, again all the very best and take care. It could result in suicide, or horrible injury, if he jumps from that height to hard ground. Rather morbid, but people are attracted to that sort of thing. I suppose they don't want a crowd to gather.

I do hope he gets the help he needs. When things get beyond bad in our lives, some can deal with these things so very differently. But for some the only way to deal with them is to firstly try and cloud them with substances, then who know where the situation may take them. Its really great how the police are trying their hardest to deal with it with a peaceful conclusion, but sometimes it doesn't end that way. For those who are choosing this page to mock, think of the worst day you've ever had, then remember who helped you. Now think no-one is there to help so whats the point. That's mental health illness.

O I saw this today I think. I was outside the town hall and I saw a few coppers running past the counting house towards north pier. I was going to upload it but i didn’t get much footage.
