      the only time i remember power cuts taking place in the UK is when they had been done on purpose during planned outages by energy grid employees on strike for better pay in the 1970s. this power cut just had to be a power cut at a UK airport. funny that, since we are at odds with Russia at the moment and they have said we are one of there first targets they have lined up in there target hairs. better stock up on cans of baked beans and tinned fruit. just saying lol.

    I am at the airport now and it’s absolute carnage no one knows what’s happening , we don’t know if our flight is cancelled , was supposed to fly at 6 am but not happened 🤷🏽‍♂️ , jet two are flying but without suitcases , 🤷🏽‍♂️🍺

    This happens EVERY SINGLE YEAR!!! Without fail, over and over and OVER AGAIN!!!
    Anyone would think they were doing this DELIBERATELY to discourage us PEASANTS from having the audacity to have a FOREIGN HOLIDAY!!

    we had a power cut in Bridgend town center yesterday, it was a short outage lasting 5 minutes at lunchtime.

      I'm living near Bridgend and we've had two power cuts in the past week, only lasting about 10 minutes each time but the mobile phone networks went down too which I've never seen before.

    Normally important buildings have an uninterrupted power supply system. Powered by gas or diesel. I can't understand why this isn't the case here

      Because it's not a building, it is an airport. It would need standby generators as big as a power station.

    It's unbelievable that a place that relies on an efficient electricity supply, doesn't have a back up system in place.
    I suppose any investment would erode the huge profits these places make.

    Nothing but lies…… I have been an industrial electrician for 40 years and worked at man airport…… north-west electricity also can’t be at fault if terminal 3 still has power….. on a report this afternoon it was down to a conveyor going down (yes this happens) but no way on this earth should that take out lights and computers it can’t happen….. 3phase and single phase are two separate powers and each by law must be protected by there own breakers that law ….. one convoy problem takes out all terminal 1 and 2 means Manchester airport has an internal power problem and is not safe

      NATS (UK ATC) are in Swanwick, Hampshire and Prestwick.
      Manchester tower (departures, arrivals, ground) have their own backup. If that is ever down though - flights would just talk to NATS and worst case - get diverted.

    Everything that can be done to deter EcoVandals from flying must be done. Their greenhouse gas emissions impact all of us down here below. Airports allow in migrants who arrive but never leave. Conversion to wetland wildlife sanctuary be fairly straightforward and better for the environment.

      @@rhysenna That I find doubtful. A hand pump system might be available as a back up, but as a primary? It would be so much slower and less efficient. And if you have electricity, why not just use an electric? Edit: and even if the airport switched to a manual back up, that would still cause chaos. It would be so much slower and the schedule would have been planned around having faster, more efficient, electric pumps available.
