  • This video is for anyone who is a beginner and new to benchtop or desktop CNC routers and project design. This video will walk you through step by step how to get started and design projects for your CNC router. You will also learn how to transfer g-code to your CNC router, among many other tips and tricks for the beginner.
This video is intended to help the beginner avoid bad cuts, broken router bits, mistakes, and countless hours on CZcams trying to learn. This video will lead you to understand CNC router bits, saving g code setting up your cnc router, feeds and speeds.
You will get a lot of cnc router tips and tricks along the way. We will also cover the CNC control software, such as universal gcode sender and gsender. You will learn how to do a tool path and about profile toolpaths and cuts. and will know the difference between profile and pocket cuts.
We will be working in Vectric Vcarve desktop, pro and aspire but all applications work for all design software, like Easel, Carbide Crate, Fusion 360, Carveco, etc.

Enjoyed the lesson and wanted to say thank you for the clarity along the way. I'm new to this and at 84 years old and building a 4' X 4' 2.2kW vertical mill from scratch, it has been a challenge since the more I learn, the more I realize what I don't know. Be well. John K.

the author does like to from scratch, shaping and trimming wood from large blocks into fine finished products. czcams.com/users/postUgkxD-QRFQz730FJEh4f9BYSf-nkIMIC9hL_ as another reviewer mentioned, most projects require a lot of high-dollar equipment that most of us dont have the room or budget for. But, knowing how to do these things, even if we wont be able to practice the full stack project, is still great.

Wow ! I have never seen this depth of information and explanation on where on youtube I was given a shaper origin 2 years ago for my birthday I liked it because space is an issue and it is portable but nobody explain in detail like you cause a lot of people like me go on the tube to find explanation and at the end of the video you end up blank cause did not understand any of that jargon and wasted you time learning so thank you for that I appreciate .👍

When you mentioned "brushing the router's teeth" I got a good chuckle. I learned that years ago. Thanks for this video. For me it has unlocked some of the mysteries of CNC's and wetted my appetite to learn more. As a woodworker in his 70's, who recognises the physical limitations that ageing imposes, this looks really interesting. I can see that a CNC CNC fosters creativity and opens up a range of possibilities for smaller projects. Your explanations are clear, detailed and precise. They bear the hallmarks of an excellent teacher. Over the past 8 years, You Tube content has given me the knowledge that has allowed me progress from a newbie woodworker to one that makes hardwood items of furniture that are of a saleable quality. I am grateful to everyone who has assisted me in that process. However, I have to say that your style of teaching and content are outstanding and facilitate rapid learning and confidence building. I look for to watching more content so that I can make an informed decision and perhaps progress to being a credible CNC user. So again a very big thank you.

Hi Mike. first of all, thank you for the compliments on my teaching style. Yes, I want this journey to be a joyful learning experience for those who venture into it.
You are right. there are so many possibilities in this little world of CNC. The imagination is really the only limit.
I would love to see some of the creations you have made over those years. Maybe you could send a couple pictures sometime. Do you currently have a CNC router, or are you just exploring the possibilities to expand your craft?
