    In this video I cover initial impressions and the installation on a TRE4x4 E locker into my Samurai based race car. TRE4x4 products are available through Zepka Customs, they are the USA distributor. This locker is electrically operated switching between open and fully locked with the flip of a switch. In an upcoming video I will share how it performs in off road conditions. I feel like this is a great alternative to the ARB air lockers, lees expensive and less complicated.

    I love my E-lockers. No noisy air compressor and no air leaks. I have been running them since 2013 and 118000 miles with zero issues.

    Great video. Looking at buying these and have mechanical lockers to install but will likely pick up 1 of these units. Are you running Sami axle housing or using a tracker/sidekick rear? This video quality and information will lead me to watch all your videos. Thank you for your wor!

      Thanks for watching! I am running sidekick rear based housings front and rear. I will be putting the TRE4x4 locker to the test next month at King of the Hammers and I will let every one know how it does. For a Sammy that gets driven on the street a e locker in the rear would be amazing, lock rights make a Sammy feel like a piece of crap on the street. I will be adding one to the rear soon.

    Excited to see how it you like it! Amazing how little info there is on this one!
    When you change directions is there a unlock lock as the ramps go the other way? Or does it seem to stay locked in? There are similar locking designs for other axles that that has been a criticism but I wondered what your take was

      If there is no load between the two axles it will unlock, I haven’t noticed it. I haven’t been stuck since installing it either.

    I need to order up a front E locker very soon.. do you have to upgrade the axles on stock samurai?

    • @ultra4suzukisamurai679
      @ultra4suzukisamurai679  Před 7 měsíci

      You don’t have to but I really recommend it. The stock axle shafts are only 22 spline, the upgraded ones are 26, so you use a rear differential with them. With a locker and anything larger than stock tires the 22 spline shafts are pretty weak. If you bought a locker now and decided to upgrade later, you would have to buy a second locker because of the spline difference.

    looks like a good unit, what is the friction material between electromagnet and cam pieces? im wondering if you drove at high speed with the locker engaged it could get hot or wear out?

    • @ultra4suzukisamurai679
      @ultra4suzukisamurai679  Před rokem +2

      Not sure what material the magnet housing is but the cam plates are hardened/ heat treated.

      Between the cam plate and the electromagnet I believe there is a small thrust needle bearing for movement when it's disengaged

    Do you have to drive to opposite way before it disengages the lock after pushing the switch?

      @ultra4suzukisamurai679  Před rokem

      I don’t think so, I have only used it in a race so far . It seems to unlock fine without switching directions. I will play with that next time I drive it and let you know.

    Hello, how are you? I have a pneumatic ARB in the back of my Suzuki and I'm not happy with it, there are continuous leaks, one day it leaks a lot and the next it doesn't, I've already disassembled it several times (it has all new seals). My experience with the pneumatic ARB is not good at all. Now I would like to put a TRE electric in front axle , but I heard that sometimes it does not connect, which one do you recommend? electric OR pneumatic?

    • @ultra4suzukisamurai679
      @ultra4suzukisamurai679  Před rokem +1

      I really like the simplicity of the electric locker. I have had to deal with leaky air lockers too, no fun. So far I am very pleased with the TRE locker, zero issues with its function.
