    That truck is in such nice shape for an original truck, wish they were easy to come by in that condition. Make sure he puts the ac back together lol. It's so worth it once u get the ac working you will never want to get rid of it and it's not that expensive or hard to do. I had rebuilt the whole ac system in my c10 and bought everything brand new and it was under $1000 and if you only fix what's wrong you can do it much cheaper.

    Doing the same with my fathers 83 with his 305 soon. My dad passed away 4 months ago… it has a miss fire, it’s hard to replace it but it’s gotta be done. Amazing work!

    Leave the trans in, it's much easier to just take the motor itself out and then u dont have to spill 3 gallons of atf on the ground lol. Cant wait to see the next video on this truck, that little vortec motor should light the tires right up.

    • @glennmanchester1568
      @glennmanchester1568 Před 3 lety

      Well it depends on what intake manifold a square bore or a spread bore you would want a spread bore preferably but they make an adapter to go from one to the other that works fairly well I've used before w no issues but a regular Holley or Edelbrock carb is a square bore and a q jet is a spread bore carb the bigger secondaries are the difference a q jet because it has small primaries gets better gas mileage and will run practically anything the secondaries only open as much as the engine vacuum can open them thus only feeding the engine what it needs and not any more than that that's the beauty of them and the reason they were able to use them on everything and only made a 750 and 800 cfms and they came on v6s to big blocks Cadillacs Pontiacs all of them w hardly much a change only the idle circuits

      @@chevylandt.v the 305 engines were very reliable and you can find low mileage ones for cheap because no one wants them. I will admit that they are very gutless and weak but for a daily driver build they are perfect and 305s rarely overheat and almost never crack heads like the 350s and 400s do.

      The 305 is not bad at all they have enough torque to break the tires loose and if you build one it can perform decent the issue is the small bore size and the factory heads they were practically idiot proof the heads wouldn't flow enough air to let it over rev and blow up even if you put it in neutral and floor it lol as dependable as any other sbc maybe more I've had several over the yrs the last one was a 40 over bore jasper motor I put a mild cam a little head work a weiand dual plane intake and a q jet with a good hot hei and anyone that rode in that truck said wow this 350 has some balls to it I said no 305 no way yep it doesn't take much to see 250 hp and 300 ft lbs torque where as most of the 350s are less than that stock just some smaller combustion chamber 194 /150 heads basically just port matched and some cleaning up and that motor made that 750 cfm q jet open quite a ways up and moaned like a bitch with exhaust manifolds and decent mufflers and tail pipes it would spin both tall back tires a decent ways once I broke them loose and a real blast in the rain like I said not bad at all
