- A stress wearable that promises a calm disposition in 10 minutes or less...sound too good to be true? Well I put this egg-shaped device to the test for the past 30 days, testing it alongside my other favorite stress wearable: The Apollo Neuro.
In this video I'll be sharing my own personal experience, highlight the pros and cons of this device, and breakdown the science behind the stress-busting Sensate.

Really appreciate your videos, Katie. Keep up the great work--thank you!
Thank you very much! I'm so glad you like them!
This video is all I wanted for Christmas
All I want for Christmas is you 😘
“Fire starter for my meditation”. Excellently put.
I just subbed because I cannot remember listening and watching anyone explain a technology for well-being, better than you, young lady. Well done! As a matter of fact I am forwarding this video to my 24 year old daughter who is the light of my life and would never recommend anyone or anything that doesn’t feel right to me. You will be just what my very intelligent and mega stressed daughter working towards doctorate in Psychology, and she will appreciate her father for having the presence of mind to offer her the chance to hear you out as the the person I trust.
I have both the Sensate and the Apollo Neuro. I gave a Sensate to my son for Christmas--it failed almost immediately. It took weeks to get a response from the company and supposedly they are sending a new one--in March. Apollo Neuro customer service is excellent and fast to respond. I prefer theirs for three reasons: I can wear it all day long, it has made a tremendous difference (I fall asleep right away), and they have excellent customer service.
I will say that when I am having trouble sleeping I sometimes use both of them at the same time, and the overall effect seems stronger.
So, I am interested in Apollo but every review is biased. Please, I can’t afford spending on biased stuff, but would you recommend it?
@@jfresh2054 Speaking for myself, yes I would. I've recommended it to friends and it's made a big difference for them, particularly if they have a lot of anxiety. I've now used mine (every day) for the last two years, and it really helps with staying calm and with sleeping. I agree though that the price is high. I think they are having a sale right now (I get emails) that give a discount. Here is the code : HOLIDAY100. BUT I think it ends after the 16th of December--which is to say, after tomorrow. If you're not in a rush, get on their mailing list--I periodically get sales from them. Not real often but it does happen. Good luck.
I also have both of these devices and I use my Apollo Neuro every night on the sleep mode to fall asleep. I used to use sleeping pills nightly but since I’ve received the Apollo Neuro have completely stopped. However, I’m not convinced that I have not just trained my body (like a conditioned response) to fall asleep when I feel the sensation of the buzzing from the device.
I’m newer to the Sensate so I appreciated hearing that you sometimes use both devices! I’ll try that out!
wow! so the Apollo neuro DOES work ? I use Heartmath's Emwave2 for training HRV, but I understand Sensate and Apollo neuro are also for HRV? and or even better? I do have interest in the Sensate.... dunno about Apollo neuro. but if I am training my HRV with the Emwave2? is this the same as with these other 2? is it usefull or good to buy apollo or sensate? I also have interest in the Amofit S, which kinda suits me more then any of these 3. I can not buy all of them. the Emwave costed 250E many years ago. these others are even more expensive... any advice suggestions is welcome! thanx
You and your videos are awesome and very helpful. Thank you for your beautiful works. With Metta.
Katie, I bought the Sensate 2. Instant neutral/calm. I keep thinking it’s a gimmick but it does really work. I also use it sometimes with my Muse S that I also thank you for recommending. Too bad about the Oura Ring subscription. I was going to get them for my family of 6. Not with a monthly personal data hostage fee!!!!
Thanks for sharing!
I’m actually releasing a video tomorrow that talks about two new sleep tracking rings coming on the market this year! Maybe oura will have some competition soon.
Great review! I have this device and I like it, but want to mention that the blue tooth on the vibration drops regularly.
The company provided me with a replacement, but it does the same thing. It does feel nice, but gets a little annoying when for over a minute at a time vibration cuts out.
Yup
I have the same issue. it works great when the device works but only works 50% of the time
On my 2nd its breaks down way too much for the benefits one receives.
The product honestly sucks. Mine died 3 times.
Good, thought through, fact-based review. Nice work!
Love your videos!
Merry Christmas everybody! Leave a comment, what biohacking health device is on YOUR Christmas List?
Great information, thanks for this.
Glad it was helpful!
I’ve had 3 Sensates fail. They stopped vibrating. The longest I was able to use one was for 10 days. I was seeing some improvement in my sleep. Would have liked a 4th one but the owner didn’t like the fact that I was complaining about their quality control on line and let me know in no uncertain terms that I would not be sent a replacement. That was over a week ago and I my purchase price has yet to be refunded. That’s my experience with the product and the company. Appreciate your video!
Same here failed 3 times for me. Other than that the device feels so good when used
@@SMERSH009X what are you going to do? Do you want a fourth?
@@catherinehuart6884 I gave up on it. I am currently using Touchpoints and it helps w my anxiety more than anything. I am also going to check out Lief and Cove
@@SMERSH009X I’ve now had a FOURTH Sensate die. Buyer Beware!
Mine broke after two weeks. It started buzzing really weirdly. I had to wait months for a replacement and had to pay import duties bc of Brexit. I have just used the replacement twice and I really hope it doesn’t break down again because I quite like it. Did you guys have to send back the broken one?
I'm late to the party, but thanks for this review. As a psychotherapist I've been interested in this device, but before I got into these more in-depth reviews Sensate was looking like a fancy vibration-based "be here now" reminder for a meditation practice (something that might be easily replaced by setting a timer to go off once in a while). It was interesting to see that it's actually something more immersive, or an attempt at something immersive anyway. Too bad about the technical issues, and the price tag that has gone way up since this recording at least for us in the EU region - it's currently at 300 eur ($320).
I like how the device feels but cannot find immediate improvements on my HRV across different devices. Katie I wonder if you measured it and saw any difference.
Hey Katie, I have had stress, depression and anxiety since it happened in College whenever I am bullied and I feel stressed every time of day in College and when I go back it is hard to get rid of stress in my house so which device will help me to get rid of my bad stressful thoughts in my mind?
I would be very interesred in your take on the Neuvana, and compared with the appolo and sensate, and heartmath?
I have the Sensate ll and love it!
Yay! Glad you like it too!
I have a 10 inch subwoofer at the foot of my bed and like to play deep slow bass music so it vibrates my body. It helps me fall asleep so fast and I sleep so well. Is that kind of the sensation that this provides?
I use Heartmath's Emwave2 for training HRV, but I understand Sensate and Apollo neuro are also for HRV? and or even better? I do have interest in the Sensate.... dunno about Apollo neuro. but if I am training my HRV with the Emwave2? is this the same as with these other 2? is it usefull or good to buy apollo or sensate?
Yeah, 100% - as you said...I'd like to see some more peer reviewed trials and studies on devices like these...especially given the price. Right now it seems a little "snake oily" to me.
Definitely a placebo factor involved. If it gets the results then I think it’s worth it even if it helps you placebo yourself 🤣 but yeah not enough science backing it for me to give it a strong recommendation.
Is it worth buying both Apollo and Sensate? I currently have Apollo and Sensate seems like a stronger vagus nerve stimulator. Have you used both of them at the same time? I usually get anxiety during public speaking and I usually get tightened breathing that prevents me from talking.
Both are junk and all placebo
thank you for comparing with apollo neuro!!
You are most welcome! Glad you found it helpful!
I had a sensate and didn't enjoy using it. Plus it died just before I sent it back. Going to buy the Apollo now I think. Could you do a review of the NOW tone therapy system please?
I would love to see a review of the tone balls!
@@kathleengalek1064 czcams.com/video/qYLPhfi7sfQ/video.html
I had the the NOW and just returned it. It does sound nice, very immersive, however for the cost, I wouldn't do it. Just get one of those singing bowls
I like my Sensate but their support is not great - especially since there is something wrong with the device and it was new. I agree at the price point (esp. for Canadians). The issue I am having is a distracting static noise that is coming out of the charging input area (not the metal necklace attachment that I have taped down) that started shortly after purchasing. They said it would go away with charging and it did not. This static noise rarely turns off- and it's really annoying. It actually triggers stress when using it without earphones as there are circumstances I use it this way. Customer service/support is SO slow getting back to me (months now) that my warranty will run out before I hear back... I am trusting they will do right by it? They seem to be focusing hard on selling and not on retaining or supporting. If I get my CZcams channel up, I'll be sure to share this experience fairly as this is a big investment and not ok.
Hi there.. great review. I have the product but didnt see a huge difference but after seeing the video I may give it a go again. I actually used it after having used NUCalm for about 4-6 months religiously and I will tell you i have never experienced anything like it. I come from a medical and highly scientific background and the whole biosignalling disk thing came across really out there.. but the system works incredibly so much so I invested in it for my clinical practice. I wonder if you have a review or video on NuCalm and what your personal experience with it may be. Thanks,
How did it go?
What’s the best HRV device you’ve been wearing recently?
I'm wondering how safe it is to put an electronic gadget so close to he heart. Do you know if any research has been done on that?
I ordered 2 Sensate units after watching your review video. Unfortunately, I think I got scammed. The products never arrive even after 2.5 months.
well done review. This neuroscientist who has taught human anatomy and human physiology for over a quarter of a century will tell you that the vagus nerve is not THE "cranial nerve" it is ONE pair of twelve pairs of cranial nerves. Otherwise - VERY well done.
Monks meditate a low frequency 'Ohm' sound to the same effect, and it's free, and you can do your breathing exercises at the same time. - Vs £400 for a phone connected pebble shaped vibrator for the same 'benefit' - Cost seems excessive to say the least.
Katie what would you suggest to increase deep sleep per my oura ring that is my only deficiency big deficiency Paul
Is this for external use only?
:))) where would you like to place it inside your body? :)))
Ok I checked out both of these out and they are prohibitively expensive for I’m sure most people especially at the moment. Without wanting to sound awfully ignorant and flippant surely you can get a similar effect by sticking a free CZcams video on with a vibrator on a gentle steady setting on your chest…. It’s a bit of a gaffertape solution and might feel weird having a toy used in a meditation context but if it is basically the same thing…. it sounds like a more accessible option
Hi
This is regarding my replacement order 21094
You have replaced my non-working sensate with another non-working sensate.
For which I was required to pay customs fees twice and shipping fees thrice
First from the US to India, Then return, and then again shipping from the US to India.
Now the replacement product that you have sent me is also not working.
Regarding which I have been sending you emails daily for the last 10 days, and I have also contacted you on your website,
and you guys are conveniently ignoring my emails
If you were unable to process my replacement, you should have told me, I would have opted for a return request; at least I could have saved the extra shipping fee and 40% customs fees(twice).
I am highly disappointed with this. And the irony is this hassle has caused me much more stress than this device is supposed to alleviate.
Still they have only 13 tracks.
They're both ridiculously expensive
Neuvana Xen ?
I would be very interesred in your take on the Neuvana, and compared with the appolo and sensate?
@@paskalelauzon3876 Personally, I think they're all over priced. Get a TENS unit like this and the ear clip electrodes accessory they sell and you'll save a lot of money and get something that actually works.

The Audio library has not grown until today... 🤷
I thought the idea of using the Sensate II with Heart Math Inner Balance (biofeedback) device was an interesting idea: (czcams.com/video/K-iaEOmbHaA/video.html) He claims he gets much higher coherence when using the 2 devices together.
I got one, on the second use, it started to rattle! Very badly made. They did refund me.
Good to hear they are honoring refunds 👍
The idea behind the device is great, the implementation terrible. It is way too small and too powerless to do anything. I want a device like it but 10 times bigger like a large speaker you can put on your stomach, which has really "kick" behind it and can create very strong vibrations and low frequencies.

I love Sensate when it works but it only works 50% of the time and there is no customer service to call.
why would i ever put a Bluetooth transmitter on my chest/heart and leave it there for a period of time? there a reason the phone manufacturers these days says to not make skin contact with the phone closer than 1cm
Must be inflation, but ... the Apollo is now 400 USD and the Sensate 300 USD... so....
Cons: It is very expensive! Currently costs £299 (380.69 US Dollars) for the basic one without the year's subscription, Very informative video. Thank you.
I prefer a purring cat on my chest... The Sensate for that price sounds like a total scam...
rubbish A fool and his money are soon parted.....
Exactly what I was thinking. Just wait for the Apple Watch 7.
🤮
This thing is a POS. I'm surprised it worked for you. Like... The thing hardly ever worked. Terrible Bluetooth. Shouldn't be Bluetooth. So dumb.
Expensive paperweight.
100% Dogs over cats..👍
Great minds think alike!
This device would be good but the product and company are crap
Really HOT woman
Has your sensate stopped vibrating?
