    • @4LaneBlacktop

    I have a 1994 2.2 5 speed and I have wanted to do this for some time. is there anything you can recommend that would make this easier. IDK if i have to swap the tyranny or can i use the original 5 speed. will the rear end hold the power or does that need to be changed over too. Tanks for your time great job.

    • @4LaneBlacktop
      @4LaneBlacktop  Před 4 lety +1

      You will need to swap the transmission. The 2.2 one wont work. As far as the rear end, if you do not pound on it alot, it will hold up.

    • @MiIlerGD
      @MiIlerGD Před 3 lety

      Do you know what would be a good engine and Tranny manual preferred . Say out of what car and at a low price for power I want 350-400 hp with a 5 speed

    • @4LaneBlacktop
      @4LaneBlacktop  Před 3 lety +3

      @@MiIlerGD a cheap engine to make that power would be a modded 5.3L LS engine. The problen is the manual trans are expensive. A 98 to 02 camaro donor with the LS1 and 6 speed at around $3000 to $3500 would be the best bet. 345hp, good accessory drive, and 6 speed all in one with 27 mpg on the highway.

      @@4LaneBlacktop Thank You.. A super kind guy gave to me his 95 extended cab truck (same color) rolling chassis. It's going to be a long term project (estimate 5 years) as we've got 3 young kids so, and being gone 13 to 14 hrs every day time is the crunch here. Trying to ditch as much weight as possible here and there with the little time frames that is allowed. Years ago I made a mistake on a 72 Gran Torino taking the front clip apart piece by piece dropping all kind of shims and never getting it to properly line up. Destroyed a fender by mistake. After all was apart I was floored it only took 4 bolts and the whole thing came off. 😖

    Great job but that grill and headlights, fenders are 1998+, not 1994. I have a '94 4x4 that has the 5 speed, and I just replaced the blown up original 4.3 bottom end with a '99 bottom end. I did a 5.7 vortec swap into a 2000 Blazer zr2 a couple years back for a customer. This truck is in great shape, engine runs great too but there is nothing like the sound and feel of a V8 in an S10.

    • @4LaneBlacktop
      @4LaneBlacktop  Před 3 lety +1

      Im sure you could make it work but you would be better off staying with the 4.3L. No reason to go backwards plus you would need a trans for a 3.8L.

      Sure...but the 3.8 was a better performing engine than the 4.3 -smoother ride, better mpg, port fuel injection, more reliable etc. A blower or a turbo unit could be added as well. If I could only find someone who has made the swap and offer advice.
