      He's reacting (hyperbolically, granted) to "the player that won them the European Cup". It imputes a level of reputation to Solskjaer that his purely footballing level does not deserve and explains why big-name players might not have had the same reverence for him that, say, players at Real did for Zidane. Soskjaer is highly esteemed by ManU *fans*, and rightly so - he did score that crucial goal and will forever be in their history books (especially because they've won so few European Cups and unlikely to win another) - but ManU players are not ManU fans. Origi is a cult hero for Liverpool fans, but if he walked in as manager today, Salah is unlikely to be in awe of him.

    • @exorder2005
      @exorder2005 Před 8 měsíci +2

      True, and it's hard to figure out what's wrong with United in general, when he came in he won 10 games in a row, that means those players had the potential to do it all the time, yet something broke after the first loss and mentally they could not get there under Ole again. This leads me to think that it wasn't really his tactics that were that bad, it was a combination of the players' mental strength folding like a house of cards at the slightest run in with hardship and losses and quite possibly the fact that Solskjaer wasn't able to lift the morale enough for the players to get back to consistency.
      It's a similar thing happening with Ten Hag right now, last season the squad showed a lot of potential, it is clear these players have the skill to compete at the highest level, but it seems it is eluding even Ten Hag how to keep the player mentality strong.
      Hell, same situation happened with Mou, first season players were playing great, finished 2nd, won cups, next season comes a long, everything crumbles.

      Mourinho brought Progba and then lost faith in him, destabalising him, stayed for two years in a hotel - showing his transcient nature, stormed out of press conferences and was toxic towards the squad. Ole had three years to change things and they played for him out of their skins to get a great run when he came in. After that, it was his mismangement. When they were getting beat by Liverpool, City and Watford and the shell-shocked players said they didn't know what to do - that was an indictment of his coaching staff. Yes, Mourino of old died when he sacrificed a club Dr treating his players, demoting her and losing the whole of the Chelsa dressing room, and he's never been as good since. Ole was always way, way out of his depth, just like Southgate is. Ten Hag has made some mistakes this year in the transfer market and the players look exhausted and are injury prone. It's simply childish to blame the players. When children misbehave, it's not the children who are to be blamed but the parents.

    Player power has been a problem since Ferguson retired. Moyes, LVG, Mourinho, Ole and Ten Hag has this legacy problem for a decade. Rangnick said we need 10 players minimum to replace the cancerous players. Yes Ole was at fault for allowing egoism within the squad to get out of hand, choosing Maguire as the captain of Manchester United and refusing to learn from mistakes and improve as a manager. However he's not the main reason why Manchester United are in this mess for 10 years. The management at the top are the main cause of the culture of cancer, toxicity and egoism at Manchester United. LVG wanted Mane, Vidal and Pedro but got Martial, Falcao and Schneiderlin. Mourinho wanted Alderweireld, Perisic and Bale but got Sanchez, Pogba and MKH. Ole wanted De Ligt, Grealish, Haaland, Rice and Kane but got Maguire, Donny, James and Ronaldo. Woodward bought shirt sellers instead of a great team. No wonder many managers failed at Manchester United. Until things changes behind the scenes, we're still get the exact problems for many years to come. The definition of madness is to make the same mistakes over and over while expecting a different result.

    Why does simon have such a vendetta against ole? He was a sub alot at man utd but when he came on he done what ferguson wanted and scored goals! To me this current manager and situation is no better than under ole.

    Blaming Jose and not Ole is weird from Jim. Regardless of where the team was when Jose left, Ole was there for 3 years. Ole is their longest serving manager since Fergie. Players like Rashford/Martial have spent more time being coached by Ole than any other manager in their careers.

    Wanting players is 1 thing, but there are factors that disprove his bs.
    1. Do they want to play for you?
    2. Are they for sale?
    3. Are other teams presenting a better project?
    4. Are their current team a better fit for the player?
    5. Why didn't he make it public?
    6. Did the player turn you down?

    The type of person who would rightly deserve the captaincy would conduct himself as a captain in his day to day life. Either the squad had no real captains to choose from, or the real leaders amongst the team didn't fancy the heat. Either way, it shows more about Ole as a 'manager' than it does about the players.
