Track limits in iRacing really frustrate me. I don't know why they use this arbitrary 'centre-line of the car' system when no series in the world uses that. Base it off the tyres and the line around the edge of the track. It's much more predictable and you know exactly where the car is in relation to them.
They’ve changed it to 4 wheels outside the white lines in a few tracks. I assume they’re going to change it in all tracks soon

I just drove Interlagos for the F4 series last week. Felt like l have a lot of freedom on the lines.
Feel like I like it better when the incidents are after the race. Breaks up the excitement to have them online
I like the new format, with the reviews after each incident/overtake

@@altransamaltransam95 fanatecs answer to their faulty quick release system they have been using and selling to their customers for years. Now they expect people to pay hundreds of dollars to upgrade to it to get rid of the flex that shouldn't be there in the first place.

Thanks for the run around the track - really helpful. I find this track hilarious. In practice I could never get below 1:47 but then I somehow managed to qualify with a 1:45.7 and the race was a blast.
I've been to this track IRL to watch the F1 Dave.
We were sat not too far away from marshall post 25 in the final turn.
The SGN crew raced here last night and I was happy to finish P5 after starting P12. (My video will be out later tonight)
I quite like the flow of this track but it tends to feel a bit slippy.
If you get on the gas before the apex at turn 9 you end up going a little wide and getting an off track as you found out.

I love this track, but I agree it's "crashy" when people don't understand how to leave space. My only real issue is that it always feels slippery. Even high downforce cars always slide around a lot.
I'm really happy that you race at the 'Ring as well. This is about ~20km from Budapest, my home town :)

Dave the track limits really got you on this one. You mentioned the differents between the Porsche and the Mercedes. Have you tried the Ferrari 296. Would be interesting to hear how you feel about the Ferrari too.
Was looking forward to running this combo later in the week, but with a penchant for picking up silly off tracks myself and trying to get my A licence back I'm a bit hesitant now. Oh, and I'm bloody starving now!!

Great vid as always just curious have you ever done a vid saying how much time you spend behind the wheel a week ie racing practice ect would be interesting to see someones schedule and how much practice it takes to keep in the flow of things

Just did a pratice session on the Humgaroring and i haye it to. It's almost as bad as Zandvoort and COTA. Probbly my top 3 worst tracks.
Hungaroring is one of those tracks that are great to drive but hit or miss for racing

I nearly hit the 7 Porsche facing the wrong way in my Momo Ferrari though at 25:30
In general I think the racing in iracing has been cleaner since the grass update... That last incident where the guy saved it on the grass was a lost cause in the older versions IMO.

Hungaroring is one of my favorite tracks especially in an open wheeler...... P.S Dave, those wrong number boards make my eyes hurt. ;)

Track temp plays a part. In practice earlier I was in the 43s but much cooler

Everybody has their own opinion. But I for one prefer the old format better, with the replays at the end. I don't like the interruption breaking up the continuity of the racing.

I included the regular incidents at the end. The replays I showed wouldn't normally show up there as they weren't incidents.

The Hungaroring is one of my three least favorite tracks in iRacing. And at the moment i can't remember the other two. And everyone knows the proper accompanyment to Tomato soup is a gooey grille cheese sandwich...
Hi Dave, what do you think of the MOZA R16 base and KS steering wheel... a good combination for racing GT3 and Formula in Iracing?
R16 is overkill, real gt3's with powersteering get to about 12nm. So i'd recomment the r12
i dont miss hungaroring it is so boring. Still no GTE for you? It would have been more fun that this race i think. GTE at Interlagos this week.

you said practice a bit more...what is your practice regiment for learning a new car/track?
Get a feel for the car. Go beyond the limit. Understand the braking. Watch others then pretty much turn laps 👍
@@davecamm you race more than most I'd say, but at what point do you decide to jump in a race? Are you turning laps while getting a feel or do you try to meet a comparable lap time before jumping in?
@@TheAirun17 yes I like to get within a second or so of the top guys before I'd jump in. Or at least towards the sharp end of the practice session 👍

Why so much hate for this track? It has it all.. Is it because it`s a bit difficult to drive? Seems like so many people only want to drive the huge wide open tracks..
It's a great track to hotlap around, however I don't think it offers the best racing
