This was one of the best uses of Darth Vader honestly. They don't waste time exclaiming about his power or the dread he instills or how many Jedi he's killed. They don't even introduce him by name, they let the characters reactions do all of that.
The look of pure terror on trillas face when she feels his arrival is just incredible, the way he not only casually brushes cere aside the way one might brush away a fly, but then does the same to literally every attack Cal throws at him is perfect. He is vader and he IS that strong, Cal is nothing next to him.

personally i wasnt a fan. im not really a fan of any game that does this kind of thing. i like darth vader, he's cool but considering how the fanbase reacts to any game straying away from canon you know that if darth vader shows up you're never gonna actually be able to fight and beat him. and i find this to just be a cheap way to pander to the fans. i would've much preferred them to flesh out the final fight with trilla, a character you can actually defeat without causing splits in the canon over the satisfaction being robbed from you by vader and then just having to run away because oh nooo its vader run awaay. just felt cheap to me.

@@jacobely6826 it’s never about killing him or beating him within an inch of his life, it’s about making the player feel either powerful or terrified; in the force unleashed, they went with powerful and this game they chose terrified. It’s perfect for where cal is in the story of a first game as well as the bravado of Vader as a figure in the Empire. Imagine if Obi-Wan just killed Anakin after their duel on Mustafar or made his injuries so much worse that he couldn’t be as effective as Palpatine’s right hand, let alone a Sith

I'd much rather the game build up some genuinely compelling villains of their own rather than leaning on established ones. I dont really care about atmosphere or story half as much as i do gameplay and the fact of the matter is the finale with vader from a gameplay standpoint is just dull and boring.

It shows how well they designed the game. Cal isn't supposed to be this ultra powerful Force God, he's just average joe Jedi and pretty much every last aspect of the game reflects that. Sure, you're probably better than the average soldier, but even at your best they can still slaughter you if you're not watching yourself.
Vader's encounter reflects this. Even trying to fight him is hopeless and the best you can do is run. That's exactly how any encounter between Vader and anything other than a Jedi Master would go, and even then, they'd still lose pretty badly.

I think Cal by the end of the game, is shown to be strong with the force and a pretty strong Light Saber duelist. However, real masters or seasoned knights with battle experience are still obviously superior. And Vader is another level of course. Cal has much to learn of the force but he is well on his way. I think he is close to Ahsoka’s level would be during the clone wars maybe. Also, this is more evidence of how naturally strong Luke is during ROTJ in comparison. A few years of training and his dedication to learning all he can of the force at that point, and Luke stands toe to toe with Vader. (I don’t think Luke is as strong as Vader at this point, but strong enough to take advantage of the opportunities Vader gives him. If Vader had decided like had to die and was committed to that, I don’t think Luke would have made it. I think by the end of that fight though, and given just a little more time, Luke Definitively passes Vader, and is well on his way to surpassing Yoda and even Palpatine).

The fact you cant touch Vader in this game is actually great. As powerful as you feel in this game at completion does not hold a candle to the chosen one in his robotic and weaker condition. A great move of the developers to let you know after all your hard work you are still unable to match the power of this character. Really puts it in perspective.

BOMBASTIC READ THIS COMMENT: I figured out MYSELF that in the elevator when Vader is chasing you you can do that pull move (forgot what it was called) that drags many enemy’s at you and it will glitch Vader into the elevator with you and you can ACTUALLY hit him, but you have to do it right as Cal gets up from being knocked down by Vader or it won’t work. Just saying if you want to try it again. For controller Lt then Rt

Actually, I would say Cal is more of a jedi than Luke was in episode 6 since Luke only had 1 year of Jedi training. Luke had a lot more going for him when it comes to being able to defeat Vader, however. He was a Skywalker, so he likely had a high mitochondria count. He also had was the son of Anakin, and as we saw in the Obi-Wan Kenobi show, Darth Vader often has trouble fighting people who were close to Anakin, yet alone his children.

I really like the force fly glitch. Was able to skip the whole dathomir swamp part of the game and move straight to the temple. When you got inquisitors chasing you you don't have time to fight a giant bat. It's weird though because after that you can climb without the climbing gloves

I don't know what I did but one time Vader disappeared.. I was running and turned around and he was gone. Another weird thing was with Atticus Rex I think... If i recall, you aren't supposed to beat him when first encountered, but instead run or go somewhere, but somehow after a couple tries I spawned and did a crazy fast combo and knocked him through the wall or something, and that made a blue force field dome appear that cut me off from going anywhere. It was embedded in the rock and pretty large but left literally no way to progress without quitting and going back to a previous checkpoint.

This is why this game excels above all others in terms of Star Wars. A great story, great player progression, dual lightsabers, double-bladed lightsaber, and the fact that you fight Vader and get your ass kicked and you are so scared you start screaming bloody murder as soon as you hear the iconic music.
