The 75 Gallon Peacock Cichlid Tank | New Fish for the All Male Display

- Today's video is about the 75 Gallon All Male Peacock Cichlid Tank. I've always wanted peacocks, so I'm very excited to set up this African cichlid tank. I rounded out my group of peacocks with a few more fish, which have been on my list to keep for a very long time!
Peacock cichlids are open water swimmers, so their tank setup should have plenty of open space. Usually this means minimal decor and aquascape. I kept African Cichlid Mix Sand to go along with a few rocks in the center. The peacocks came from Southeast Cichlids.

After seeing this it makes me want an African cichlids tank ive never been to into African cichlids but the more i see em the more i want to get a 125g African cichlid tank

I have the same tank with about 17 of them fish. There pretty awesome. Still trying to get everyone's colors to come out.
I recommend lots of water changes. Quality water will be the best thing for color.

Nice to see more Africans on the channel. You got a great mix in there! Do you have to alter your water at all compared to your Americans? I'm lucky with my treated well water. It's naturally at 8.1 ph and my AC's thrive in it.
Thank you! My water is actually ideal for Africans as well so I don’t adjust parameters. My South Americans have still thrived/bred in the same water params. I just keep things consistent and nitrates low

Just curious, when reference is made to the gallon capacity of the water , is it US gallon or imperial?
Nice fish! Love the peacocks. I do have a suggestion. Add more filtration. That’s a lot of fish for a 75G especially when they grow up. These fish are messy! I have a 125G peacock / smaller hap tank. I use 2 fluval FX6 and a Seachem tidal 110 HOB on it. The More filtration the better with this species

I am hoping that someone can share their recommendation for purchasing a single Geophagus Topajo fish. I reviewed Southeast Cichlids on line store but they appear to specialize in African cichlids. Please and thank you for your help as no one in our local fish stores seems to be able to order one for me.

Depends on the type of cichlid. If you’re going peacocks, I’d recommend a 75 gallon tank, and anywhere from 10-15 would work

Kudos for not drip acclimating. I have been in the marine side hobby for 26 years and never should fish that came to you in the mail be drip acclimated. Plop and drop for those fish is the only way to go. You are guaranteeing yourself ammonia burn if you would you would drip acclimate such fish!
