      I used to work for AT&T cellphone technical support. I backhanded a co-worker who said it had been an easy day when there was 2 hours left on my shift.
      Less than 15 minutes later, Boeing IT called and my team manager asked the whole team to stay for Overtime. I didn't leave until I wasn't legally allowed to work any longer and didn't talk to that coworker for a week. 😂😂😂 great paycheck though.

    The darndest thing is some of us are immune to the q word. Did all sorts of ride alongs with serving family, and it would stay quiet. Right up until 5 minutes after we would clock out

A good day is a quiet day, but it could also just be a busy day with plenty to do yet you get it all done with time to spare. Anytime I say "I think today's gonna be a good one" something heinous happens in my store. I've been claiming every day will be a good day since just out of pure spite lmao I refuse to let such a simple, boring, job break me.

      True. It's a dangerous jinx 😂 I work as a Tech Support assigned to a bank. A colleague was complaining it was Q. A few seconds later we have a major outage for all of that bank's branches having teller software issues and was swamped with calls for HOURS. Talk about manifesting it hahahaha

      Same with retail... the amount of times I've had someone on shift say, "Man, it sure is quiet today." then have all hell break loose can or would make me a rich man. When I became a front end manager, before I left, I instituted a rule: No one say the Q or S words on shift or they would be having bathroom detail for the rest theirs.

      Food service, Friday night, 5 to close. Customer and his buddy walk in and order two of the biggest sandwiches we had. Instead of taking it to go, they stayed and ate in. We couldn't kick them out, and I had to go back and clean the area all over again.

    Was on a road trip with some friends, one is a 911 operator, and the other is a EMT driver, both are off duty obviously and their talking about how the Q word is taboo while on shift and i blurted out. "Oh, quiet." Both looked at me with legitimate anger, but then suddenly remembered their not working 😂😂😂 yeah don't say that around emergency personnel 😂

    Customer support as well. Tested it myself more than a few times. Worked every single fuckin' time. Be it that there was no work for a few minutes or a few hours, it went from a slowl day to all hands on deck situation in the matter of minutes.
    NEVER comment on the general state of work if you don't see chaos and want to comment how you feel empathy for those workers. If it's quiet, just say you hope it's as 'chaotic' as this every day and leave it at that if you feel the need to say anything

    Was working the athletic training room for an event a year back. There were no patients for over an hour. Someone out of nowhere says “man, is it just me, or is it really quiet?” And they were met with glares from across the entire room. It’s just something you don’t say, because now you know you’re going to get hit. Within 20 minutes the room was flooded with patients and we didn’t get a lick of rest for the rest of shift. Needless to say, they didn’t live it down 😂😂😂

    I was in the ER for a twisted knee and hear a newbie paramedic enter the ER saying this has been the most boring quiet slow shift I've ever had. Every single head turned in his direction immediately spiting anger at this kid. Nurses started getting trauma kits ready. Like they just knew this SoB just destroyed their night. A frantic nurse came in wrapped my knee, gave me discharge paperwork showed me the xray and said sorry hun to rush you but....... I just looked at her and said I completely understand if you accidentally locked the paramedic in the supply room. Staie a deep breath. Repeat no one dies tonight. Got her laughing as she wheeled me out to the parking lot that was starting to fill. The paramedic was on everyone's sh*it list for a long time.

    For anyone wondering about the Macbeth thing, basically it's a superstition that any performance of Shakespeare's Macbeth, will have an actual tragedy occur to the cast and crew. In highschool I had a new theater teacher and her first day she told us all "we will never, under any circumstances, do Macbeth" I asked her about it a few years later and told me she had tried to do I think 4 times, the first I think the set got destroyed, the second the lead actor got sick the night of the play, and the other two I think something happened to the set hands but I don't remember what those were. But she said after that she would never risk preforming Macbeth because it was too much of a hassle

    Everyone at my restaurant knows they do not bring up how slow or quiet we are. It literally happens. I fully believe saying it's quiet during your shift, you automatically fuck yourself over
