How long did you bake it for?
I just made some last night for my coworkers. About 12 minutes should do, 350 degree oven.
I followed the amount of flour to use and I feel like my cookie dough has to much flour ugh .
Perhaps they wasn't pressed enough, refrigerate to allow the dough to settle, then press to make a flatter cookie.
Mine too! I followed Stovekisses recipe exactly .Good flavor but were like cake texture! Rested in fridge. So mad.

Yes, I have had the cake texture plenty of times and don’t know why.
It might be the type of all purpose flour used to make the cookies. Different brands have a higher/lower protein content. If you google best all purpose flour, there's a lot of info on it and what store brands to get. It seems Gold Medal is pretty good on the less expensive side
