When things don’t go to plan - how do you fix a problem on a heritage railway? Severn Valley Railway

Who was it who said “no plan survives first contact with the enemy”? Whoever it was, should have added “or with the weather”!
On a very hot day, SVR operations manager Matt Robinson was in charge of moving a train of 19 (yes, 19!) vehicles from Bewdley to Kidderminster for cleaning and maintenance checks before the railway reopens on 1st August.
All was going very well indeed, until Matt came across something he really didn’t want to see as the train exited Bewdley tunnel. We hope you enjoy your glimpse behind the scenes of our leading heritage railway, learning some more about what makes us tick, and why we need to be prepared for anything!
