    📺 NEXT EPISODE: • 🇸🇪 Classic Volvo SLORo...
    In this episode of The Volvo Rescue, the 1962 Volvo Amazon restoration project named "Bruce" gets a look-over to see how a restored Volvo ages one year and 1,500 miles later. Truly, it is not a lot of wear and tear, but some pressing issues do need to be addressed and my 1-year anniversary of getting the car roadworthy for SLOrolling in 2019 seems like a great time to reflect and regroup. Next episode is the mounting of the front end bits, from mud flaps to grilles and headlights. 👍

    I owned two 122s's. I swapped an engine between them....simplicity; ( I was younger then! )....weak point was the wings and box mounting; prone to corrosion....but....I got a wing from a scrapyard cheaply, sprayed it, undid 7 bolts holding the rusted wing and replaced it..simple.....later they made plastic wings as replacement....great cars; always looked a cut above others....even today they reek class. I commend your knowledge and efforts; well done!

    Haha it is funny to hear you say the swedish words for Ljus, Vindrutetorkare och Fläkt ;) I had to listen to it a few times. I'll keep my eyes open for those chrome bezels.
    It's fun to follow along on your Volvo adventures. :)

    My first car was a 65 122s. I sure miss that car. Missed it so much I just bought a 92 240. I started watching a bunch of 240 repair videos and of all of them I think I like your content the best. Keep it up and welcome to California.

    As a proud Swede i love your channel, this car was manufactured before i was born but Volvo for us born in the 60's and 70's was a part of our dna. There was Volvo's everywhere and basicly everyone i knew had a Volvo as their first car, they were cheap durable and responded pretty well to tuning. My mother remarried and the new guy had a pretty well maintained 68 Amazon 123 GT that was the fastest car i had been in at 13 years old with its "mighty" 115HP B18 engine xD. He sold it 6 years ago and bought a more modern 900 series. Volvo's stir up a huge amount of memories, it's like a key to a ton of experiences i had while growing up with friends, rally cars , girlfriends. party's etc. Thanks for still flying the colors David :-) The car looks great !

    Putting on anti ping axle bolts this am, inspired by your S60 R video the other day. Wonderful videos my Volvo friend, I really enjoy your enthusiasm. My first Volvo was a '64 544 sport back in 1969. I bought it for $150, the owner thought it had a major front end problem. The solution was a $4 wheel bearing....loved that car, wish I still had it!

    Love the update. Bruce is still looking great and by most accounts looks to be holding up fairly well. We all have gotten used to new cars adn how they are but these little leaks and other bits are just normal-ish maintenance on cars from this era.
    Great work. Looking forward to Jenny's videos and the Alfa looks interesting.

Don't wanna pay IPD price at 40 bucks tho! Might you have an extra? I'm checking around the shops here in Portland Oregon. I know there's one not being used somewhere!

    The key in the lock may come out if you take a tig weld rod and hold against the key piece, ground the ign lock housing, and tap the other end of the weld rod to positive on a 12v battery. If the rod welds to the key you can pull it out. Worth a try maybe?

    What paint,crinkle finish do you use on the speedo bezel?

    • @DavidBello
      @DavidBello  Před 3 lety +1

      Rustoleum instant galvanising grey I think it is called. Or sometimes you can just paint over the faded old paint and it lays similarly. Others have used a wrinkle or hammer finish paint and then sprayed grey over it

    There are so many people who's said that the headliner is an absolute nightmare to fix/install, which makes me even more thankful that the headliner was really good in my Amazon when i bought it

    • @DavidBello
      @DavidBello  Před 3 lety

      I have a friend who had good luck with his 544 install which looked completely doable and similar in design. Thankfully this is not the glue-in type that needs the front and rear glass removed. The shop had some confusion about the rods and they had to let it stretch over a few days. Either that's normal or their excuses for why it took too long to install. I stopped by almost every day so the actual install was about 3 days of work for them. Their labor was so affordably priced that I couldn't justify doing it myself and potentially messing up.
