  • When you're stuck with a seized pilot screw, you still have a solution.

All I can say is you're one seriously lucky person. I have a 1998 gsx750f with a seized mixture screw. I attempted to use a bolt extractor after a week of soaking in penetrating fluid. I used the exact same kit as you and it simply would not bite the soft metal of the mixture screw, it simply chewed the remains of the screw up. Not wanting to compromise the threads, I ended up scratching away at the remnants of the screw (with a small flat head screwdriver) until there was just the threads left, with brass still stuck in them. Now I'm trying to find an appropriate tap to run through the threads before I fit a new screw, I'm having a hard time measuring the thread pitch though with it being so fine.

Yeah, I might have gotten lucky!
Just measured mine for you. It’s a M6 fine 0.75 pitch. Not sure if yours is the same but if it’s a Keihin, it’s like to be. Hope it helps.

Thanks. M6x0.5 on mine, they're mikuni. Hopefully I can save the thread or I'll have to make an insert 😬

I just had the same issue. I did the same procedure but hit it with a bit of heat first

Nice job with that. Just ran into this last night. On Yamaha yz250 pwk38. Idle air was coming out real hard then flat head slipped now it’s going to be tricky might have to do this.

Could you please tell me the type of tool you used to remove it. The make and model. Thank you!

I used a screw extractor kit. I had a look, mine doesn’t have a brand but looks like the one in the link here
