Even though Petey is, “evil”, “wicked”, or even “maniacal”, you could also see how nice lil’ Petey is. And, lil’ Petey is a clone of Petey, meaning that, if Petey’s family trauma (like his dad) didn’t happen, Petey would’ve been much more kind.

I feel bad for Petey bro. First he had a hard life with almost nothing.then he’s mother passes away and then he turns evil like his mother probably never wanted and Petey always gets beat up by dog man or lil Petey.and last he has sad flashbacks.this makes me cry too much😢
I liked Petey when he was a villain, but I liked him more when he started to gradually change into a hero and we learn more about his past and how tragic his childhood was. It just made me feel sorry for Petey and I'm glad he's now with the heroes. Edit: I think I also noticed that Dav Pilkey sorta made a reference to the Studio Ghibli movie My Neighbor Totoro with the young Petey and his mom at the bus stop in the rain.
i also really like how realistic his character development is Improving yourself takes a lot of time and energy And you’ll end up making a lot of mistakes I’m glad the book shows these elements and i’m also glad they didn’t change his personality either

You guys remember that this comic in the book is written by two fourth graders. These guys literally made the most emotional childrens book that tells genuine story’s and moments at 9-10 years old.
I got the first book when I was 7, and oh fvck it changes to much as it goes on, I’ve “grown out of it” but I really like dog man and I see so little people talking about it ❤
Dogman grime and punishment made me cry the most but I still cried in mothering heights while listening to “the greatest love of all”. Petey’s mom reminds me of my hard working mother and father 🤍 First books to ever make me cry, and that’s ok :)
