Hello, I'm Rousseau, I make piano covers of classical and pop songs with a reactive visualizer. New videos every Monday and Thursday!
#Rousseau #Piano #PianoCover
Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah. A bit later than the originally planned release date of Dec 12th, here is a simple little Christmas arrangement I made around this beautiful song. It's fascinating how this one always finds itself on Christmas albums, even though it's not a carol or even Christmas-themed - but this trend only started recently. In 2008, UK X Factor winner Alexandra Burke and Jeff Buckley both had chart topping covers before Christmas, and this decade saw extremely popular Christmas releases by Susan Boyle, Lindsey Stirling and Pentatonix! However, it's also interesting to see that the original by Cohen was also released in December, also shortly before Christmas. It's very possible we're seeing a new Christmas carol appearing right before our eyes!! Hope you enjoy this (and perhaps get a chance to play it yourself before the holiday season is over), and I hope you had an awesome Christmas â„
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, Rousseau!

This is actually the best cover of this song I've ever heard in my life
Maxence Gauthier, have you heard the one by Tom Mucenieks? Itâs pretty awesome.
Itâs actually by Kyle Landry, Tom performed it
He is just playing arpeggios with 10th chords and harmonising the melody with the right hand. It's a common pianist adaptation, not particularly hard to perform and very nice to hear. You can do it with any song.
This is good, but Jeff Buckly's gives a spiritual revelation every time I hear it
Francesco parrino's version is way way way better

'it's a beautifully constructed melody that steps up, evolves, and slips back, all in quick time. But this song has a connective chorus, which when it comes in has a power all of its own. The 'secret chord' and the point-blank I-know-you-better-than-you-know-yourself aspect of the song has plenty of resonance for me.'
- Bob Dylan on Hallelujah
My younger cousin sang this at my grandmothers funeral last summer. Her voice just filled the church and there wasnât a dry eye in the room. Such a powerful piece of music.
Normally I get a stroke when someone starts playing Hallelujah in public or anywhere else, probably because the song is often used as a startup for beginners. But man, you nailed it. It litteraly touched me. Thank you.

I've heard there was a secret chord
That David played, and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do you?
It goes like this
The fourth, the fifth
The minor fall, the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you
She tied you to a kitchen chair
She broke your throne, she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Maybe I've been here before
I know this room, I've walked this floor
I used to live alone before I knew you
I've seen your flag on the marble arch
Love is not a victory march
It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
There was a time you'd let me know
What's real and going on below
But now you never show it to me do you?
And remember when I moved in you?
The holy dark was moving too
And every breath we drew was Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Maybe there's a God above
And all I ever learned from love
Was how to shoot at someone who outdrew you
It's not a cry you can hear at night
It's not somebody who's seen the light
It's a cold and its a broken Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Leonard Cohen's used "The Holy Dove" not "The Holy Dark" but the song has been covered and reworked so many times that there are many different versions out there. Not to mention there were so many verses he didn't include in the studio version, but would play live. It's an incredible song, that has meant many different things to different people.
Guys just try to sing it it such a good feelings even if ur not a good singer
