I heard this live in 1988. I was not prepared, I didn't even know music like this existed. I was 17 and I looked around the concert hall to see if it was a sort of a joke. It wasn't. This music put everything in a new light: you could be wild and still be socially accepted, even successful. I'll be forever grateful to my father for taking me there.

Grazie per questa opportunità di riascoltare la sequenza XI di Chitarra da me commissionata a Luciano Berio nel 1988 ed eseguita da Eliot Fisk al Teatro Zandonai di Rovereto !All' Epoca ero presidente della Associazione Filarmonica di Rovereto e ricordo quanto Eliot Fisk insisteva per avere questo gran capolavoro che ha portato in oltre 60 concerti nel mondo come solista e altrettanti con orchestra e chitarra visto che Berio, (su richiesta di Fisk) ha fatto la trascrizione anche per orchestra e chitarra solista.

Berio pretendió con esta pieza tramar un puente entre guitarra flamenca y clásica con la intención de romper el velo del templo y abrir horizontes ignorados . Nuevos caminos para la guitarra que ya emprendiera Scelsi, pero que tanto cuestan transitar. Puede que un día, aún por llegar… ¡Todo se andará!
