Hey! Excellent work. You helped me with an upcoming job. Also, if nobody has mentioned it yet, you CAN change the ROM ID in the ECUs. You need to lookup the correct ROM ID via the parts catalog for your VIN. Then you obtain the file from Nissan. The trick is... the .csv file that comes with the Nissan download is actually instructions for Consult. Consult will refer to that .csv file, search for the current ROM ID that is in the ECU, and in the .csv will be a line that shows what the current ID should become. Now... the trick is you must EDIT that .csv file so that there is a line that starts with your current ROM ID, and ends with the one you want to be loaded. It's as simple as that. Just tell Consult to go from A to B using the .csv!

Good job Brian, I ran into a similar situation recently and I learned that certain functions in the module are locked out until you do the security first.

Brian I was thinking maybe you can give a quick overview of when you would and why you would use the yellow air bag shorting adapter I believe that’s what it is called. Stay safe and well 👍

Hi there, excellent video and I have subscribed! I have a quick question if you don't mind: I have a 2012 Altima and it need an ECM and the service number is MEC112-130 B1 2313A but i can only find ECMs with the same digits except the last 5. Do you think it will work after I reprogram the keys and VIN? I was told the last 5 numbers don't matter but I'm unsure on what to do. Thanks again for the video :)

It suppose to be a handshake between the PCM and BCM without having to erase any original keys plus write whatever legit VIN you want. Unlike other makes that have you do AKL or PR etc etc.
Have used this function before and it’s faster than trying to do AKL then write VIN. Honda I believe has the same kind of process.
