  • Having a hard time deciding what type of feed to buy for your animals? I cover the different categories of feed, the pros and cons of each as well as the costs. I'll go over how we decide what to feed, and how that has changed over time.

Thank you so much for this video.
In the past I bought non-GMO feed for Cornish cross chickens for self consumption, but then I found out, like you said they get sprayed with glyphosate...so I did not buy it any more.
Your honesty and transparency with your clients is very honorable. You are a remarkable person!!!
I am still able to get enough spent grain for my sheep. I am planning to supplement some of the layer's feed with some spent grain. Maybe half and half.
Would spent grain affect the egg production in my hens?
    Thanks. Blessings

Thank you! I have seen good results when feeding my egg laying hens the spent grain. I typically feed it as half their ration.

For pigs this year, my first year growing out and butching a pig, 2 pis that is I use a non gmo peanut based feed from my local amish mill feed cost went from 13 to 16 a bag and they loved it they offered fish protein but that just did not sound right at all

Peanut based feed seems like a really good option if you can find it.

Have you thought of bulk feed since you use so much?

    • @YouCanFarm

Yes, we've been buying in bulk from the feed mill for years.

Yeah up here in Minnesota there's no way you could afford to feed organic or non-GMO it's way too expensive it's expensive enough feed and conventional you would go broke I've cut way back on feeding feed and feed ignite lick tubs with the sheep and goats love and they do good on them and I don't have to feed as much feed or a lot of times I don't feed any feed you just can't afford it not not with the inflation

I agree. I'm glad you are finding ways to cut back.
