Very organized. Great job guys! Kids looked like they worked hard as mom and dad. You've trained them we.
The goodbyes and the end were extremely entertaining. Buggy did look really tired. Y'all are an inspiration to those of us who are much newer to homesteading.
Big, big day. You gave Calicocowacres such a valuable education today. You are good people. Thank you.
Great seeing the family understanding where their food comes from
That’s what popped into my mind. I was raised this way also… realistic living 👍👵🏻👩🌾❣️
@@deecooper1567 yes you have responsibilities to ensure it gets done well.
I want to give you a shout out at your 155k. I'm so proud of your numbers!!! I love watching you and your family working together. It brings a joy to my heart!!!❤
You all looked so worn out but so happy for a job well done. Meg you amaze me how you worked all day, came in so tired and fed your family and still had plenty of love, hugs and smiles for Liliana. ♥
You guys were very busy!
Amazing that you neighbour Mickayla came to help! (I will check her channel!)
I can totally understand that you were exhausted that evening.
Just one thing: I saw that one of your boys was sharpening his butcher knife and after that immediately started cutting. Its better to clean the knife with a (paper) towel after that. There are little pieces of metal oh that knife. You don't want that into your food and belly. 😉
Saying hi from the Netherlands 🤗 🇳🇱
The minute I saw Mickayla, I knew I knew her. Well, you know, from youtube. Love watching her vlogs too at calico cow acres. It's awesome she came to help and learn. I wish I knew some one near that was doing this so I could have some hands on training for sure. Y'all do such a great job!!
Why does this video bring tears to my eyes? Watching a family and community come together and work for sustainability and a sovereign lifestyle makes me ecstatic. This is the vision I have for our future as a nation. Thank you little family, for exemplifying the American way.
Call me crazy but i like bloopers. More plz. I'll bet everyone slept good that night.
I love this. This is what the younger generations need are those of you with knowledge sharing and teaching skills to thm. What a beautiful thing❤
This is purely sense of humour. When I was in my 50's I took a course on gender communication. One thing that stuck with me was 'generally speaking' females take ownership for anything that goes wrong. Males tend to blame 'inanimate objects' like when the hose took out the camera Mr. Hollar. I have laughed about this now for many years. Just a fun fact of us humans. 😁
I always look for a video from your channel, I am so enjoying it I have been watching since you left Ca. but rarely leave a comment, I'm 70 raised 4 children and wish I could do it all over again and do it like you !! TY 💕
Wow! Calico popped up in my feed about a month ago. Glad she could come over and learn.
So nice of Michaela coming to help with the chicken processing day. Thanks for sharing. Y'all have a Blessed day.
This was exactly what we did when I was growing up, we would raise but 100 to 150 chickens, and about 20 to 30 turkeys and we would barter with the local farmers. They would take vacations and we would take care of their cows. (feed & milk them) Our family would butcher the chickens. I would pluck the feathers. We did not have an electric feather plucker. Brings back good memories of a family working together.
Your videos are so comforting and grounding. Thank you for sharing the little things in life.
I watch her channel and enjoy it. She has the best teachers for sure!
Great job family and Makealah 👍🏼👍🏼🧡🤎💛
Such an inspiration to me. To see where you have come from, mending a marriage and now a cohesive unit living off the land. Blessings family, i wish you many more years to come.
Flannel jammies tonight. ☺ 🕊
My goodness had my helping on chicken processing day at the ageof 3 or 4 yrs old. Back when everyone had outhouses. My sister and I are only 12 mos and 9 days apart in birth so both of us really very young but it was the way of life. Our job after uncle chopped off head (we ran in outhouse) he let it go and it would run out in the garden with long bloody neck and flop over. We had to pick them up and carry to hot water tubs. We plucked feathers also. Lol Oh we had a well and everyone drank from a dipper. Love ya much from Blue Ridge Mtns of North Carolina.
Boy, you all were extremely busy harvesting that many birds!!! How much chicken and stock did you have from those huge pots to can, Meg? Glad you had Makayla (sp?) to help out. Little Buggie did look so tired at the end of the day.
Having a good neighbor you get along with is the utmost blessing!!
Processing & butchering is a lot of work & long days but well worth it to have the home raised meat in the freezer to eat through the winter & the new year. Chickens always seem to take forever to process. We usually did ours over 2 to 3 days depending on how many we raised for freezer camp every year. That way my back & legs weren’t screaming so bad & not so tired after doing 50 in a day x 3 days rather than trying to push & do 125 - 150 in one day. then struggle to get out of bed & stand up, go feed & get anything done the next day. Started getting 55 meat bird chicks every 2 to 3 weeks to control the numbers needing to be processed at a time. Ran 3 brooder spaces & then chicken tractors up to processing. Worked well for us.
Thanks again brother , you all work like a antique clock , no glitches ! Top notch craftsmanship , very great information !!!!!! 👍
❤❤❤
Good afternoon. I hope your having a good week. I started watching simple living alaska because of you. I like them but your still my CZcams family. I heard Ben talking about the skirting if he would mention the back deck... lol
Brett the pressure wash looks great.
❤❤❤
Yes but you have chicken for the year that only took you a day to process.!
Nice to see your neighbour there. I watch her channel too! I didnt realise you were so close to each other.
PS I did a lot of chicken dispatching, plucking and gutting in my childhood. Nothing like the smell of hot, wet feathers. Something you never forget, even 60 years later.
I love this whole family. Meg's the heart of it.
Another productive day at Hollar Homestead! I always learn so much! 👍
I was hoping you’d get to know each other!!! I just found their channel last week and they reminded me of you guys. I’m so happy.
It's so nice to see how the entire family comes together for thinga like this. Also thank you for showcasing the redbroilers. I was debating geting them and yall made up my mind. They look good❤
Great family community work... even the difficult issues are handled with grace and sensitivity... I really love you guys.
The twins are huge! They are as tall as you Ben.
Great new beginning! Meg, you're awesome! Terrific vid!❤❤❤❤
Yup, headed over to Calico Cow Acres, stay warm.
high five for good Neighbors like Mikaela
🙂🌻
Buggy wasn't the only one who looked tired. Long day for all of you. but what an accomplishment!
What a long day y'all had. Ben and Meg you look wiped out. It's good that you have your boys to help you out. Hope you get plenty of rest before the pigs get butchered!
You all did great and look so tired. It is worth it though. Little girl is so cute. Great job. It is nice you have good neighbors to help, yes, I was surprised she liked coconut milk. I cannot drink it. hahaha! Now relax and enjoy the fruit of your labor. Peace!
🙋🏼♀️🕊. Megan needs a redo on her kitchen. She is amazing what she turns out in that Little Kitchen The most used room in the house. Just feeding the family three meals a day for 5 guys 🏃♂️🏃♂️🏃♂️… and the Canning 🥴. Wow !! she is like the bunny that keeps on going.. I had 3. Three guys for 3 full meals .. there always hungry. Lol. ,! Blessings to you and your family 💞💞 love all of you..
Hard day but it's nice knowing you will have food for winter. Congratulations
Hey Hollers , I thought you were going to say I have to run around like a ! with no head 🤣 sorry!

Great first Chicken harvest, Mikaela !
JO JO IN VT 💞
I already went and subscribed. Yes, totals. Well done Hollar family!
Oh my gosh I just started watching their channel
What a very busy day 😮. When growing up we set up a table , had a good fire , big boiling pot of water & hand plucked & Dad had the axe. Mom would singe them over the stove in the house. Was nice to have meat in the freezer!
Great job Hollar Family 👍👵🏻👩🌾❣️
Mickayla can certainly tell a story. I went and watched the Calico Cow intro video and joined. (They have beautiful cats. )
How funny I already had her on my list before I knew she was your friend so cool
Buggy is growing so,fast,

So awesome that you invited Makayla to come and experience this with you guys! Love both channels ❤
That’s a big job. And a whole bunch of meat in the freezer. Good job guys 🙏👍
I watch Makayla at Calico Cow Acres!! They are working so hard on their property. (sorry I prob misspelled her name 🥴)
They are lucky to have you for neighbors!
We look forward to the day we can do meat birds!
Great work for the day.
I love this family.
Right now I'm at home because I can't I got hurt at work.
So I enjoy 😅
You guys are the Real Deal. Thanks for showing the way. All your hard team work definitely payed off. 🙏
Nice job on processing chickens! I'm sure this will fill space in your freezer after doing all that canning. I'll need to go check out your neighbors vlog. It's a good thing to have neighbors who homestead as well this way y'all can help one another out.
Why you didn’t put your chicken in ice water overnight? A job well done with your chicken. It’s good to have good neighbors that are willing to help. A job well done. Thanks for sharing.
We put them on ice as we process, take a break for lunch, then come back and cut up after they are chilled. Not as long as overnight, but we prefer to get it all done in one day.
If you are looking for video ideas I’ve been watching some old videos of yours again.
It would be cool to see meg talking about how she wanted the house lay out to be and how it is now, same thing for the gardens and food Forrest how your ideas were a few years ago to how you have made them to suit your needs now.
Then a look to the future what you would like to accomplish in the next 5 years being on the homestead with an over view of the new land included 😊 keep up the great work and never forget why you are doing this.
Love from Australia.
You can tell it must have been cold, those boys had long pants and shoes on😅
Awesome video. Loved the blooper. Keep in the bloopers😂🤣😂🤣
I noticed the siding of the home is clean! Good work!
I love Lily's snowsuit.
Well done ❤
I bet y’all are so glad that job is behind you and you don’t have to think about chickens for a while 😵💫! So glad you had such a great success and now the freezer is full of chicken!
Nice seeing Mickayla helping and learning from you two.
Hope you all are ok. News just showed a 400 acre fire, with homes and farms burned in Henderson county somewhere south of Asheville. I'm not sure exactly where you're at, but that's where I assumed you are.
Praying for everyone there. Fires are ravaging the country more than storms.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
You all are so dear. Uplifting in this upside down world today. God bless all of you. So love you all. Sister likes Mikala.
Love the bloopers at the end. Keeps it real. And a laugh as well 😂❤
Y’all Need to make a blooper video or maybe one at the end of the video each time…I actually was drinking coffee and laughed out loud with coffee all over the iPad…when DADDY-O fell over the hose then the knocked over the barrel…but he held it together! But made my day a little brighter… I would have kicked the barrel and cussed a little. Good job.
Well done Hollar family and neighbor awesome video as always thanks for sharing Pete cape town south Africa looking forward to seeing you soon
Excellent organization for the chickens!
Thanks again for your great videos and letting us see your family’s journey. God bless!
Great to see you guys! Awesome job as always! Nice neighbour, will go check her out! Blessings!
The wife and i did 47 chickens about a month ago by ourselves. We need more help next time. It was also our first time so the last half went twice as fast as the first.
Wow...that was a lot of chicken. Thank you for sharing. Blessings
Thank you for sharing.
Very nice flow! Also love little pink snowsuit buggy running around there! Such a great learning experience.
Wow, great participation with the whole family plus Michaela! Thanks for sharing! Blessings to everyone 🤗💗🇨🇦
Busy day for you. God bless.
🎉 wow Hollars! Wasn't that close to 100 chickens? Y'all rock! I'm struggling with getting a sharp enough knife for 5 roosters😢
Maybe Meg or Ben you could give me a pointer on the tools. I really need to reduce my 7 roisters of 22 chickens down to 2 or 3. Thanks for another great day with the Hollars❤❤
Hey Meg went over to watch Calico cow wanted to come out and say hi you sent us but there’s no place to leave comments on their site I watched about a half a dozen or so maybe you could help them there so it’s kind of hard to maneuver well I’ll continue watching you I can’t believe how cute that baby is
Very amazing video keep up the wonderful work one love 🇯🇲
great video as always. Your family works as an effective unit. You are truly blessed. God Bless from Cheyenne WYO.
You guys look beat. Good eats.
I ♥️ these days
A lot of work and a lot of future deliciousness!
This Off Grid Life sings your praises but they did one video where they showed the entire process.
A great job done by all involved!
Bread and rolls being made. Pan toast, egg, and sausage breakfast! Lots of preparation of chicken butchering. It must be a very cold morning with the boys all bundled up! Nice set-up! It's great that everyone has a job. It looks like it is going like clockwork. Your neighbor is great at getting right into it. I like Meg's spoon! That's a big bunch of carcasses to stir! You did a fair amount of parting out the chickens! Long day but a ton of birds butchered! Thanks for this video Hollar family!
Thanks!
Awesome day
I just made garlic hamburger buns using your bread recipe,. OMG!!!!!! Sooooo good abd easy. Thank you.
That precious little angel looked so tired .
