- In Virginia Dale, Colorado, a community of Benedictine nuns live a life of prayer and work on a 300-acre cattle ranch. At the Abbey of St. Walburga, situated among grassy meadows and snow-capped mountains, the sisters sing the psalms, pray, and raise cows for the grass-fed organic beef they produce.

Dear Sisters of Christ, God bless 🙏🏼all of you for your humble & pious vocation. Your habit reminds me of none other than Mother Mary. I am a very disciplined Christian & am able to pray only 3 times + Holy Mass almost daily. Every Nun is in my daily prayers. May God Almighty bless you abundantly for turning your backs on the materialism of the world & instead livng a Christian life all for HIM.
My wife and I had the high honor of attending Sunday Mass here with the sisters 2 weeks ago. It was so beautiful, as are the sisters. Truly angels, each and every one. God bless and keep you, sisters.

My fond wish is that religious communities embrace hospitality to some degree. I visit an Episcopal monastery locally where we have daily mass and liturgy of the hours. It is lovely but I miss the company of women. I would certainly help with chores and gladly change 7 times each day for prayer. I am a middle aged woman and can no longer qualify for an order but it was my intension as a teen to do so. If I found that there were sister who did something other than teach children or care for the elderly I would have made more of an effort. I hope many young women learn of this order.
Nice to see the dog is also wearing a habit. hah I've been helping my daughter discern her vocation, and this has intrigued her, perhaps a seed growing in her heart. She's only 7.

Some peace and quiete for prayer. It is not a place for argument etc disagreements and so on .

If I can never pay my debt paid off, I would love to be a Benedictine nun. Of all the orders I have looked into, the Order of Saint Benedict is the one that speaks to me the most. And besides, they're one of the few orders that will take people in their late 30s to early 40.
there are websites and charities that help people pay off their debt to enter religious life. Call your diocese vocation office, they can help you out

No, they work.
@@bridgetmakesmovies that doesn't mean they aren't cloistered. All nuns work. These ones work on the ranch and don't go outside the enclosure. Active nuns (non cloistered) work in the community.

There are many active sisters who already do this. They are contemplatives who try to love & worship God for God's sake. And they pray for others. I'm sure they would pray for you if you asked. Also, do you give to those poorer than you? What do you do for them?

the Nuns habit & Rosary beads are 2 things that Muslims copied from Catholics. The Nun's habit is few centuries old while the Muslims copied less than 40 yrs ago.
@bojana Kocijan, you are wrong, Islam and Catholicism are barley alike, Catholicism allows the use of Statues and Paintings in it's Church's while it's prohibited in islam, Nuns don't wear the hijab, it's called an habit, and I don't know of muslims using rosary beads..? The covering of Hair is a Early Christian tradition for modesty and devotion, as well as Catholicism came from the Holy Land.. and in the Holy Land they covered there hair.
The islamic empires despised Catholicism, tbh I feel protestants and muslims have way more a like. And Catholicism and judaism more a like. (but still very different)

Let us not forget that animals are living, thinking, feeling beings and deserve at least, equal respect and care. I love nuns and god but I don't like the way they were chasing cattle and lightly beating them into order. Let animals be and live a compassionate life. Thou shall not kill.......
@Heidi Babb Have you ANY idea how cattle are treated on traditional "farms?" These are free-range animals, my dear. And they must be led to certain pastures at certain times of the day. They don't have names and they don't heed unless you steeer 'em a little. The stick she used was akin to the business end of a broom, i.e., just a little hay. Cows hide is about 4 inches thick. C'mon -- grow up!
