    The whole purpose of Christ is the love God has for imperfect humans and addressed their needs. Firstly, to forgive sin and secondly to redeem those who realized their need for A SAVIOR and runs to Him in their sinful brokenness. May our Father continue too receive broken persons with a contrite spirit and heart. Save us Lord because we CANNOT SAVE OURSELVES. Wretched humans that we are!!

    This is a masterclass rendition. If all the talent and components are there to execute and at the same time praise the Lord then by all means USE IT. Our talents are given to us at different levels and the AWESOMENESS OF GOD manifests itself when we use our given talent to its full capacity. Why should anything be reserved here? Thanks Oakwood.

    I pray that when this young man views the negative comments made here by some of his "holy Christian brothers & sister" he does not go in a state of depression. We as a people should encourage and uplift persons when they are trying to do good, not hit them down because we are so "holy", & they are not living up to the "standard" - geez man, get over it and enjoy the rendition for what it is intended. I read through most of your comments & agree with much of what you're saying; you're actually dead on. However, @ the end of the video, who did they applaud. If it were really to the glory of God, why didn't the church just say "Amen" in agreement to Victors way of praise. I've watched many performances by this choir & I've never b4 seen not only the church get up & cheer as they did here, but the choir as well. Moses is our key example of how easily we can lose out on reaching the promise land.

      Why can’t we just appreciate the talent that God has given His children to sing to His glory. Why all this judgment and criticism. Just be happy that they are singing about Jesus period. All the debate and concern of amen and clapping leave it to God to discern. Christians get caught up in unnecessary detail which can be very discouraging and stressful for others. Just enjoy the music let it lead you to a place of worship and admiration as opposed to jealousy because that’s how all the naysayers sound like. If your not jealous then you sound like it so stop. People need to me more concerned about the details in their lives that’s preventing them from getting to heaven as opposed to unnecessary judgement that will make them loose out on the future glory that is awaiting the saints of God. Whatever is pure, good, holy think on those things and leave criticism to Satan (the accuser ) and his friends.

    I see your point, and it raises something that all musicians should be concerned with; however, how do we know that someone is showboating? is it by the way they look, act? I think that is a heart matter that ought to be settled between the performer and God. I think only the person with the power to see exactly what lies within the heart of the performer has the authority to make such conclusions.

  • @cassinko
    @cassinko Před 9 lety +5

    @ Jesnel Apugan . Are you saying that the lead singer who sang a perfect top soprano should not sing it because he was not made to sing it? Why did God give him the capability to sing it in the first place? Are you saying that he is a freak of nature? Why is it that I can't sing bass and baritone, always a high tenor and handle the descant in 'The Lords my Shepherd,' 'O come all ye faithful' and many more songs better than the women in my church. Are you saying that I should hide that talent? My church is a small one and when the ladies need help I am allowed to help them out. My voice is used harmoniously in the choir. I did not make my voice, It is God's gift to me. I am in church and praising God with what I have. What christian message would you be sending me? 'Don't sing because your voice is to high and sounds like a woman." Let's be careful of our criticisms and ugly remarks. God don't like ugly.

    • @breatheu
      @breatheu Před 2 lety

      Not true. The guitar doesn't play itself. it's an inanimate object. People of the world uses it for worldly things. It does what the user plays. Let the instruments praise God. In the Meeting place God had the Levi set up musicians to praise him with horns, cymbals, lyre, etc. Today we have modern names like sax, drums, guitar, etc. They are robbing God of His worthy praise with their human misinterpretation. And I'm SDA. Read the Psalms, look good at the sanctuary set up and you'll see that God ordained them for use. Blessings

    "Ellen G. White warned about the dangers of applause stating: "applause can stimulate like wine", "administer vanity", & cause one to be “puffed up”. Moreover, she saw applause as “a snare”, something that can injure a person & that which can even influence a person to leave the church for the world. She wrote: “Jesus did not seek the admiration or the applause of men”. So, its either SDA's follow the Spirit of Prophecy or they don't. Do you know why Moses didn't go into the Promise land?

    The point I'm trying to make to Shenieva is that appropriate church music is culturally subjective, so one should not use there own culture as a measure of what is appropriate; one has to understand that culture. I do not think a guitar in church is inappropriate at all, but do I understand why Zimbabweans choose the piano as the only instrument of choice, yes, because they are coming from a cultural history of ancestry spirits mediums and the like.1 Corinthians 8 v 9-13

    I'm calling it like it is. But I'll humor you. What are your supporting text? It makes me laugh looking at some of these comments talking about condemning Victor because of his "rifts and runs". Not your comment in particular but reading in between the lines, some comments seemed to suggest that since rifts and runs don't fit the principles of western anglo music it must be wrong. The bottom line is Victor was singing to the best of his God given ability for the Glory of God...

    @cyclash10 -I answered Shenieval with nothing but the truth, we all have vocals to talk and sing, no two people on earth talk alike, so is it with singing, we all sound different, so r we supposed to keep silent with our vocals because it dosen't fit the pattern of others be it male r female, we r to use what ever gifts God has endowed us with, in this case his vocals r higher than the usual male vocals, for your info some women have tenor-bass vocals, r they supposed to keep silent, No way.

Please tell me, Worldly or not, he put his whole might into singing for Jesus as he instructed us to do for him. Imagine if I'm to use my African music as a measure for correctness, every music style would be disqualified. Against traditional Jewish music, hymns would be disqualified. So then, what music style is the measure of heavenly music?

    @shadhom personally that is not a christ-like way to answer shenieva1. God has given us a voice. We should use that voice, we don't need to alter it. It's beautiful, a man should not sing like a woman, it's not what God intended im sure it would have sounded better if the person sang in his natural god given voice. But i cannot comdem nobody we are all sinners. But we must lift up the standard and not lower it.

      Jesnel Apugan it called countertenor, and it is the highest range of the tenor, now I have been singing probably before you were born, especially since I’m 57, and I grew up in church, and the voice is an instrument, and like an instrument there are ranges from the lower register to the highest, and if God has given anyone the gift of singing, He knows exactly what He is doing, and to judge what God does, his scripture says, “He thoughts are not your thoughts and His ways are not your ways, meaning unless God came down and personally told you what He had in mind for this unique voice, then all you are doing is simply speculating, and not praising God for His marvelous works, our opinions have nothing to do with God, so please don’t try to speak on His behalf, that’s not anyone’s place to do so, just give God the glory and honor and enjoy His handiwork...

  • @shadhom
    @shadhom Před 12 lety +2

    Well I am sorry that Zimbabwean churches forbid guitar playing in their churches because they consider it a worldly instrument. If thats the case then they should not have no instrument in the church period, this really is absurb. The instrument does not have a mind of it's own, it is played by the individual as the piano, organ, drums and any other instrument. Just like people playing games in their home with dice that used to be considered gambling, now dice r found in a variety of games lol.

    ...Those outside of our culture may see it as "attention seeking" due to a lack of understanding of how we do things. There are going to be a LOT of shocked people in heaven when they realize that only "western anglo" music won't be the only type of music sung in heaven, but will reflect the myriad of cultures of God's children. SMH people think their culture and ways are the best and only ways. Compared to the Angles music in heaven ALL HUMANS MUSIC SUCKS. When we realize that we'll stop...

    "I shall forever lift my eyes to calvary" singing...

      Alfred Meijerhoven So the singer should sing terribly so you don't focus on him?

    A lot of European influence here.

    ... criticizing other cultural/"unholy" music that others sing and participate in. What kind of music do you think the Angles sang when Jesus returned from earth? I can't image "Who is the King of Glory" being a somer, mellow, and quite frankly a BORING song of praise. it was a CELEBRATION with the angels singing to the BEST of their God given talents for the Glory of God.

    This hymn has such a beautiful melody, it is a shame to ruin it with all the vocal calisthenics. Just sing it. Victor, there is not a fine line between showing off and singing to the glory of God. They applauded you, and there was no glory to God.

      Well, I certainly am not going to stand in judgment of whether God got glory from this brother's singing. That's just not for me to say. However, I will agree to your initial statement. Less is more.

    @shenieva1 -here u r again attempting to find fault with another group singing for the Lord, if you cannot do nothing but go from video to video being negative, then find something else to do that makes you happy, if you want to find some negativism, I suggest that you first start evaluating your self from the Inside-Out, there if you dared to be truthful you will find more than enough problems to keep your warped mind occupied in trying to find solutions before U die in your present situation.

    But one counsel, It is better to let Christ be seen in the lyrics and music than the artist. I am sure the song writer wanted us to experience of grace through Jesus Christ. It's just a wise counsel. There are millions viewing this song and many come not for entertainment but sometimes at their final decision to end life or to find Christ. So let's keep this in mind. But again I was blest but there are certain things we don't need to add or take away from a sacred song as "He Looked Beyond My Fault and saw my need" Thank YOU Jesus.

      Derrick Hall Where was the entertainment I thoroughly enjoyed the rendition of he looked beyond my fault originally written by Dottie Rambo and the young countertenor did very well. Your comment sounds a little hypocritical.

    5:09 risky note. Too unreliable, in my opinion, and of course after he cracks, his save was a long riff that sent him back into his natural range. Nice voice, though, and even greater arr. Fellas, it's ok to keep these hymn arrangements more on the simpler side. The counter-tenor thing is lovely, but it shouldn't require 12 notes to a measure when 3 will do.

    Why can't he just sing the song instead of adding all of those unnecessary bumps in the music? You sound like you have an amazing voice that is hidden by that.

      FauxReal...are you a singer? And if you are and you are able to use your full range, especially when it comes to praising God, are going to hold back or give Him your best, just like He gave us His best, His son whom bore all of our sins...
