    As a non-believer, I am completely moved by this and while I'm not ready to accept I can't deny the spirit I feel while hearing and watching this amazing performance. If this is the 'holy spirit' inciting tears to run down my face then so be it - and I thank you! This is outstanding. To have been surrounded by these talented singers and raised up from my seat as so many have been in the video must've been a unforgettable moment.

      Michael God is love and loves you as one of his creations. He sent Jesus to die for all of our sins and we've only to accept forgiveness by saying "forgive me of my sins" and believe that he did. "Lord, I believe that your Son,Jesus died for my sins and that I'm forgiven for my sins and will have eternal life". Then pray about finding a truly Christ -like body of believers to join in the worship of Him. Like your heart guided you to that video his Holy Spirit will guide you to where you can learn more .

    I am sitting here in the First Baptist Church, Clinton OK, listening to this version after rehearsing it on our organ. I think one of the things that moves me so much is the exuberance shown on the faces and the joy exhibited on the congregations faces. I know this recording is 6 or 7 years old, but I think it is the best! I have listened and watched the Tabernacle Choir and it doesn’t come close. Praise God from whine all blessings flow!

    Sweet Mother of Pearl - that was beyond moving. I have just recently discovered this University Choir on CZcams, and I am blown away by their talent and beautiful interpretations. I used to sing this in choir, with my Father, many years ago. A former RC, I left the Church some years ago, after a conscious decision not to support a patriarchy with such an extensive history of abuse, from sexual assault (including former Clergy teachers of mine), to the Irish Homes for unwed girls (Magdalene laundries) to the horrific abuses and cultural genocide of Residential Schools.
    Listening to this GLORIOUS rendition of a favourite Hymn, sung by such beautiful, passionate young people, gives me a little hope for this fractured world. Oh thou fount of every blessing - INDEED.

Oh to Grace how great a debtor...daily... Yet by the simple act of asking, the multiple voices in community sharing the request supporting each other with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. This performance is absolutely REMARKABLE and I am so glad I found it. A lot of choirs try this arrangement and it's often very lovely, but not necessarily stirring. THIS was an emotional rollercoaster. Top-notch singing and evident commitment to the spirit of the moment - commitment to the notion that a performance like this is real life magic. And we need to talk about the organist's reinterpretation of Wilberg's harmony during his solo because that was such a brilliant and wild journey. An absurdly large musical flex that has me shook.

      @jobucats2166 Před 6 lety +2

      Emeka, you are not the only one who keeps going back to the organ solo. I've heard this arrangement by Mack Wilberg so many times including the BYU Choir who introduced it, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir where Mr. Wilberg presently is the conductor, the Crystal Cathedral Choir directed by Don Muen back about 10 years ago, etc. This is one of those arrangements where the arrangement itself doesn't require any tampering with, HOWEVER, this organist took the original arrangement and added just that amount of his improvisation that complimented the hymn for the Aeolians while maintaining the integrity of the arrangement. By, the way, I love his chord variations. Plus, isn't the organ sound itself just wonderful? Your description of this rendering is so, so accurate.

    First time I heard this arrangement was the spring of 1997 with the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square (Dr. Craig Jessop conducting) I happened to be seated in the left balcony just a few feet from the first sopranos. When they rose to those high C’s, Ahhhh! Goosebumps, spine tingling. That is a wonderful arrangement by Dr. Mack Wilberg, current director of the Tabernacle Choir. Every single time I hear it, same feeling of awesomeness.
