  • Hi I am Anju. I am a certified Professional Horticulturist living with my husband and two sons in the Washington state. I grew up in a spice farm. Even though I belong to a farmer family I didn’t know how it worked until I came to US and had my own garden. I learned from my mistakes of killing way too many plants, wrong plants planted in wrong places.
    In this episode I am showing how to trim back and #deadhead #Calibrachoa plants for an all season blooming beautiful hanging baskets. Hope you try and do let me know if you need help 🌿🌸💕🌿🌸💕🌿
    Name of plant:
    #Calibrachoa (MillionBells)

    1st. . . you have such a lovely voice & I'm thrilled to have found you. My gorgeous baskets don't stay that way for long. Just realized that I'm overwatering. Also didn't know that I should prune them. Didn't know either that these beauties could be wintered over. My goodness I am getting an education via you. Fertilizer? Never would have thought that they would need it every 2 weeks. Thank you so very much. Wish my little beauties luck. I have a semi green thumb.😊

    Hi, I got about 5 different ones as I am absolutely thrilled.
    I transplanted one of them into a big terracota pot. The temperature in Greece at the moment reaches 38C but I managed to succeef with the plant as in the morning when the scorching sun hits all
    plants I put a sheet on a clothes line which stops the excessive sun hitting them. At 12 am when the sun has gone from my balcony, I remove the sheet and the rest of the day my plants look happy. The one in the pottery has already grown. I also sprinkle all my plants with water to keep cool.

    I'm in Zone 7, and have three pots hanging in an eastern/southern direction. I've lost about 60% of the blooms. I just watered with miracle gro and pinched back a few of the blooms. How much water do these plants need? And how much sun? This is mostly indirect exposure, dappled with sunlight between other trees but do get about 4 hrs direct sunlight in the a.m. Is that the problem? They've dried out a few times ... and they've been beaten up by heavy rains lately. 2024.

    Great video, thank you! I live in zone 9, central coast of California. I left my calibrachoa outside during our "winter" and it's very woody/leggy now. But still blooming. Should I cut it back hard this fall and hope it comes back next spring?

      @bhumigardendesigns1195  Před 3 lety +1

      I would cut it down in Late winter or early March for new shoots to grow in spring. Keep pinching the top until you get bushier side branches

    Thank you for this great video. I recently purchased 2 hanging baskets from a nursery and they were beautiful and large when I got them. Now, 1 week later they seem to be wilting. I water the baskets every night and they are exposed to sunlight during the day. I thought the humidity got to them so I brought them indoors. I also find that the 'branches' of the plant looks too heavy and are weighing down too much so it looks flat on top versus the nice rounded flower bed it originally had. I think I am killing it. Anyways, since I have brought it indoors, it seems a little better (my husband's opinion). However they are just sitting on a table in a hobby room where no one cares to view them. I have no idea what I am doing wrong.
    Help 🥀🤔

      It sounds like you're watering them too often. Maybe you should try every other day....if they're out in direct sun.

      -Is it in full sun? Million bells loves full sun 6-8 hours direct sun
      -Are the roots sitting in water? Million bells doesn’t like wet roots. So water deep but make sure it drains well
      -Feed phosphorus rich fertilizer every week or every other week

    Hello ma'am. Beautiful flowers!
    Could you please share details on the soil and compost you used for intial potting? I bought a Calibrachoa from a nursery in Bangalore and this has only coco peat in it. Since you mentioned they don't like wet roots and cocopeat holds water in it, I'm a little confused as to how to go about with its care. One of them is drying out as well :(
    Any advice would be great help!

      Here in the US we get potting soil for annual plants. In India you can get bagged potting soil too or you can make your pwn rich potting soil
      Things you need:
      * Coconut coir (Two-parts)
      * Compost or well-rotted manure (One-part)
      * Coarse Sand (One-part)
      Optional
      * 1/4-1/2 cup Garden lime
      * Epsom salt (2-4 tablespoons)
      Steps:
      * Mix coco coir in a bucket or wheelbarrow.
      * Add manure or homemade compost
      * mix in sand
      Your soil is ready.
      (You can add epson salt & lime to make the soil even better)

      Meenu Jacob, if the plant is drying, try watering the plant by placing it in a basin with water. Let it soak for 20 minutes to an hour. Then take it out and let it drain well

    you dont' have to dead head this plant. the reason people buy it is because it still producese flowers all the time! just looks at your plants they have a million flowers already, if they needed to be dead headed they wouldnt' have soooo many flowers on them. in fact i found your video while searching for flowers that dont' need to be deadheaded.
