  • Pressing my Tammy Tanuka Pigments♥
    Even before ordering the pigments, I decided that I would press them and ordered some equipment to do so. After almost two weeks I am finally doing it, I hope you enjoy this video where I’m showing you how it went down ♥
    Constructive criticism on how to improve my videos (lighting, sound etc.) is very appreciated!

    Thank you for making this video. I am about to press some loose eyeshadows from Notoriously Morbid with your help. And then I will buy Tammy's loose eyeshadows/pigments too. I'm excited to do this! It helps save money. But also I want to start my own makeup Etsy shop and this will be my first step to learning.

    Hey Martes! I really enjoyed your video and want to try this myself. I have a couple questions for you.
    1) How have these held up after thr video? Are they dried out and need repressing or are they like other shadows that last a long time?
    2) About how long do you let them dry before pressing them down?
    Thank you again for the awesome video

    • @MartesMakeup
      @MartesMakeup  Před 2 lety +1

      All of my pigments are just as they were after pressing them, none have gone bad and texture seems the same (I haven't swatched them all, but several in my custom palettes lately, they all are just as before!).
      I no longer press them, I just let them sit and dry! If you want to press them, wait until they're almost dry. The time depends on how much alcohol you add, but you can easily check by gently pressing some paper on top. If it soaks immediately, wait longer. If it only gives off some moisture when you press down, it should be fine to press :)

  • @Sue-pn7mq
    @Sue-pn7mq Před 4 lety +6

    Such a brave project. The palette looks amazing. I have several of their pigments and think they’re stunning, they look so pretty pressed as well. Have you used them a lot more after pressing them?

    • @MartesMakeup
      @MartesMakeup  Před 4 lety +1

      I filmed the video yesterday and today, so I have not used them on my eyes yet! And I still can’t use eyeshadow after the chemical burn/allergic reaction I got from the Juvias Berries palette.. but I hope to try them soon!💞

    • @Sue-pn7mq
      @Sue-pn7mq Před 4 lety +1

      MartesMakeup Oh no, that’s awful. I had a reaction to my Looxie shadows and it took a long time to heal. I also couldn’t put anything like a cream or something on it the first day or two because it hurt too much. Is it painful still? I’ll keep my fingers crossed you’ll be able to use eyeshadows again soon. I also can’t handle Zoeva shadows and wonder if it’s something in the pigments they use. All other shadows are fine and I have had no issues with any others I’ve tried so far. For me the worst were also pink toned shadows. I tried the Zoeva shadows again as I found it so weird to react to something after so many years of using eyeshadow without any problems, but the second time it was worse, so be careful if you’d retry. Their pencils also make my eyes water, while a lot of other brands are fine. I know some people have reactions like that when they use certain shimmers, it’s weird right?

    • @MartesMakeup
      @MartesMakeup  Před 4 lety +1

      @@Sue-pn7mq Oh really, luckily I've never had any reaction to my Looxi ones! My eyelid was first itching and stinging, it was swollen. After two days it felt like touching rubber, the third day (today and yesterday evening) the skin started peeling off, and now it looks very dry where the skin peeled off.. so we'll just have to see, I hope it will be back to normal soon. I haven't tried Zoeva either, I was planning to retry the shadows from Juvia's, but I won't risk it! I've never reacted to anything on my eyes so I find it very odd, I'm probably going to mail Juvia's and ask if they used something new in those shadows, as the two I used where I got the reaction were marked as not safe for use in the immediate eye area. I'll definitely be more causious with shades marked like that! I know it's possible to develop an allergy to certain pigments, so maybe that's what happened to both of us? I'm just curious to know which pigment I reacted to, so I can avoid it in the future!

    • @Sue-pn7mq
      @Sue-pn7mq Před 4 lety +2

      MartesMakeup I had a few that wouldn’t stick to my eyes, of my lighter ones three were too waxy, so I wanted to try which Looxi shadows would and wouldn’t work and some of them really hurt my eyes, so I asked them to cancel my Black Friday order and I gave the shadows I hadn’t used to someone else. I don’t dare to put them on my eyes again and fortunately they were really nice about it. It’s smart to ask them what they used. There’s a red pigment that some people are sensitive to, but you’ve used berry toned shadows from Coloured Raine without problems right? I hope you’ll be able to find out what it is. Were their other palettes okay or haven’t you dared to test them? Pressed pigment shadows have to have that warning about the immediate eye area in te description, but in Europe they don’t have to put that warning on a palette. It is because some of them can cause irritation. Have they ever made any bright berry toned shades before? I don’t think I have any of them in my palettes, but I don’t own all of them. I hope the peeled part will heal soon, that was exactly what happened to me as well. Plus it hurt a lot in the beginning. Once I was able to put some moisturizer on it without having the feeling my eye was on fire it helped a lot. I hope you can do makeup again soon as I can imagine you really want to try out those pressed pigments. Those jars are pretty accident prone, so I can imagine pressing them can be a great way to use them more.

    • @MartesMakeup
      @MartesMakeup  Před 4 lety +1

      Sue 11 wow, I totally get that you wouldn’t wanna use them anymore! It sucks though. I have used their Zulu, Saharan 2, masquerade mini, nomad and tribe palettes. There are a couple berry tones in the Saharan and masquerade, I haven’t reacted to any palettes or shadows before whatsoever though! But I’ll be looking into the ingredients, it might be a new allergy too. I have used Coloured raine before as well, no problems! Quite a while since I used the pink vivids, but I just recently used the Power palette. I think I’ll try to do some makeup tomorrow, it seems like all the skin has peeled away, plus I’m going to work! I have so much new makeup I wanna try, but for now I’ll just use the makeup I know is safe.. with a pigment though, I just have to hahah!

      It's a few years ago now, so maybe the seller quit selling it. I know isopropyl myristate can differ in how liquid it is, so if you use a different one, just test it out with few drops first and see if the pigment holds up in the pan once it is dry!

    • @MartesMakeup
      @MartesMakeup  Před 3 lety +2

      I typically use 2 drops of binder and between 15-20 drops of alcohol! Alcohol just depends kn how much it takes to make it a wet paste that is easy to mix, so the binder will be spread in all the pigment ❤
