- In this video we install a RPM Transmission Level 6 TR6060 manual transmission in the sleeper Volvo. That bad boy will handle over 1200lb/ft of torque and all the abuse we can throw at it. We also install new clutch hydraulics with the thanks of Centerforce Clutches!

A good trans makes a huge difference!
My twincharged Subaru had an old beat up 5 speed and i had to wait for rpm’s to drop to upshift. The new 6mt made it much faster!

Definitely running bottom 10s🤞. With the clutch slipper wouldn’t be surprised for this thing to run 9s. Hopefully as long as the engine is healthy

As long as you don’t have any odd noises, you might still be ok. I’m a mechanic of 21 years, and I’ve seen an LS with an oil pan filled with so much metal, you’d have thought someone threw a handful of shavings from a brake lathe in it. On the customer’s request, we put a good Melling oil pump in it (after cleaning the metal out, of course) and it’s still on the road 5 years and 150k later. Worth a try.
I've recently acquired a 245 as well.
I'm a car noob, but enthusiastic about it. Got some work ahead of me. Fix the botched straightpipe exhaust, do some legality maintenance, some rust-work. But I love that thunder grandpa to bits. It already has some mean character with it's measly 130something hp.

Since you’ve got a lift, I really recommend getting a proper stand up transmission jack. It’s wayy easier standing up than on the floor. You can remove/install boxes all by yourself with ease!

i recommend getting beadlocks for the slicks so that the tire doesnt slip too much although it would give it away that the volvo isnt normal...

Can you film the steering wheel adjustment next video? I put a new power steering rack in my 240 and also must have got it a tooth out. I'm not sure if to rotate the wheel slightly once pulling the u joint or change the rack position. I've heard it's possible to damage the clock spring but luckily I haven't, I've found sometimes the blinker self cancel earlier than it used to. This makes me think it's the wheel and steering shaft that's out? Any advice would be appreciated 👍
@Gingium your rear suspension set up would be great to be able to purchase. building a 240 now and plan to try and replicate it.
I know you probably may have already looked i to this, see if the clutch/launch solenoid is a an NO or NC switch/solenoid. Might have to have power applied to it for it to be activated (NC) or might have to have it like you do now, no power as an NO but closes upon being energized

Do you have a tailshaft loop? Once you break into 10s here (Australia) that's a requirement to keep racing. Probably good idea anyway just in case. You could make one easy.

Are those supposed to be "block off plates" or "block off plugs"? Seems like being bolted from only one side may make them easy to leak.
Yup, but I can’t make freeze plugs with my cnc table lol. Either way not too worried with rtv and a thick plate

Is it possible that the solonoid is wired backwards? Like its being turned off when you hit the switch and thats why you adjusting it is altering clutch feel?

I have to take it out to do some testing, but I find it more likely that it’s backwards or something
In an automatic transmission they can have a line solenoid on the transmission oil pump pressure release valve that increases the base line pressure actively based on engine load... rheostat piggie back on the TPS to a simple process circuit over a stepper motor... 300lbft to 800lbft ... so it shifts smooth in normal driving and just does it all, Automatically... 🤔
Why not add a sequential shifter to it? You still get a manual trans and quicker shifts. You also don't got to worry about missing a gear either.

A transmission jack adapter would of helped remove the transmission without falling over.. 🤷♂️
That dual jack point is only for the side jacking points.

I think you need to drive a high power auto car on the street before you say its fun or not lol, believe me 600+ in an auto is damn fun especially when you throw high gear and fry the tires which you wont do with a manual.

Why not auto because shift gears fast is cool, ya auto is technically faster, but let’s be honest the Volvo isn’t a 7 second car at the moment, hell there are plenty of 7 second stick shift cars anyways

Another reason do you domt spend a ton of money on an engine cause every engien can blow up just as easily. Id rather replace a $250 engine than a $3k+ engine lol
And you can't get an LS for $250 anymore in most places, so building to be durable is better.
I guess when you got $ like this you can spend over $10k prob just to make your 700hp stick car get onto the 10s 😂 when a 400-500 auto car can go 10s. Sometimes its not about throwing $ at it is optimizing what you havecant wait to finish my budget 240 wagon turbi ls setup to show what you can do with what you have and not break the bank to run 10s. Nothing exotic, pump gas daily all accessories.
