Re-watched this again. I always enjoy the quick and clean pace of your videos. Thanks for the playthrough.
Glad you enjoyed it! Happy gaming!
Really happy to see you playing this, Dale! It's one of my favorites, and I'm just getting into the Forbidden Fortress stuff myself at the moment.
@Ryan DeLano Hope you enjoy the game, and may the dice roll in your favor. :)
I’ve recently become hooked on Marvel Champions because of your videos and now this game looks fun, too. You’re costing me a lot of money lately, Dale!
@Jack A lol I'm just passing it forward ... trying to convince others to buy games that someone convinced me to buy. ;)
Yes finally!!!! After all those teasing unboxing videos! Excited to see you dive into SoB and hope you enjoy it Dale as much as I do.
@TwiztedJay Oh I love the game, one of my favorites ... just so hard to get to the table, especially a small table. :)
One of my all time favorite games. It's awesome to see you making videos with Sob!
I started a narrative playthrough on my channel a few years back, but I haven't been able to go back to it. I'm looking forward to more SoB!
@Jay Plays Sounds fun, hopefully Max Grit can get back to saving Brimstone! :)
THANK YOU !!! i have bought all kickstarters and latest hopefully arriving 2023. Never been able to play is yet. But kids now being a bit bigger i will start playing FINALLY. This video helps me allot my boardgame brother !!! so thanks you once more !
Hope your adventures go well!! :)
Thanks for watching!
And I was going to get out my stuff and try it... at least now I can see it in action before I do... thanks a bunch...
@idjester You should still bring it out for a play ... just roll better than I did. :)
Subscribed because you are a fan of Shadows of Brimstone and great videos of it! Hoping for more and longer campaign playthroughs! Just assembled 1 core set and i am about to start first game this weekend!
@ola bergh Once the latest KickStarter ships, I'll bring it back to the table ... although, I really need a bigger table for that game! Good luck on your adventure, and thanks for the sub! :)
Great fun, thank you Dale! 👍
It's a great game to play!! :)
Thx so much! Was just thinking about this game, world looks so rich and kooky
It definitely a weird west! And I love it. :)
GG. I just finished playing my first two adventures in this game. Lets just say I didn't do quite as well as you did there. This game can be brutal, but your unboxing and setup videos convinced me to give it a try. So much to keep track of, but I was getting the hang of it by the end of the second game. I am glad I picked it up. Thank you.
@Mike Gould Glad you are enjoying the game, and it is definitely a game that you don't always make it out of the scenario in good condition. Time to buy some more dice! ;)
My favorite game that I don't play enough of. My pile of shame is epic for this and yet I cant stop from buying more. Some day it'll hit the table again. The card organizer is a must have.
@Steve Gallagher I regret to say, I might have too much stuff for this game ... which is a valid reason for it not hitting the table as much as it should. And yet, I still get more stuff. Good luck with your pile of shame. I'm lucky, I only have 3 games on my shelf of shame. lol
@@DaletheCasualGamer It will dominate an entire table no matter what. So I need to claim the dining room table for a few days. That doesn't usually go over with the wife too well. It needs a room all for itself. Maybe some day.
I can at least experience the game with your fine presentations.
Just sent the Frogs more $ for some Gencon sale items I just cant live without. I need to get the Feudal Village now too. I have no sales resistance!
@@Gallasl666 Dedicated game room with shelves and large table just for this game. SALE!?!
Sale resisted ... as I have almost everything, but the dice were tempting. :)
@@DaletheCasualGamer I wanted the Challenge Pack mainly but their are the cards on sale that I dont have and then more minis. $200 later....More for the pile
Holy cards! How many cards come in this game! 😳
@Jayme A Haha! It's a big core box and tons of cards, tokens and miniatures. Looking at all the expansions is not for the weak of heart. You will be corrupted with dark stone for looking. ;)
@@DaletheCasualGamer haahha well maybe I’ll have to check it out!! Thanks always enjoy your channel Dale!
I absolutely love how every game just seems to tell such an awesome and unpredictable story. My dream is still to do a narrative campaign...the overarching story is all done but it is just a matter of time and space on the table. Fantastic playthrough of one of my favorite games (in the top 5 for sure).
@writerguy911 This game really makes me want that dedicated game room with at least one table that is only for this game. With nearly everything for the game, getting it to the table is quite a chore, but such a great system and so much fun!
Best levelling up system for a dungeon crawler, and the mutations! Good times. :)
Great job Dale. I haven’t picked this up yet but it is on my list.
@David Hargis It's been one of my favorite games for a while, now if my table space could just accommodate. ;)
@@DaletheCasualGamer so I finally picked this up. Started with the swamps of death core set. Soloed my first game with Indian scout and preacher. Barely survived. Great story telling. A box of Hell Vermin and Wandering Samurai just arrived. This is my 2nd favorite game now just behind Marvel Champions. Thank for the videos.
Very informative play thru of Shadows of Brimstone. I like the game. I’ve got my finger on the trigger , but not ready to pull unless you come up with a reason.
@Stewart King Haha, nice try. There are reasons, but you'll have to justify them over watching any playthrough. ;)
Running solo at 1st level in SoB is a serious challenge!
Thank you for the video! I bought all at once Forbidden Fortress, Swamps of Death, Forest of the Dead, Feudal Village, Ninja Enemies, Odo Kuro, and 2 other enemies (Flesh mites, takobake samurai). Everything is painted, I've read all the rules, but I still haven't have the time to play, and it's been over 2 months. The boxes keep staring at me, asking me to pick them up hehe
@David Pepin Time to go find some dark stone, and get some mutations!! :)
Good luck!
I really like how fast this game moves once it gets rolling but, by my sainted aunt, all those decks. Don’t you dare forget that bounty next game. Thats fair dinkum.
@JJE McManus What bounty?
You know I play games and forget things! ;)
I keep seeing this at the game store and never bought it. Maybe it's time to give it a try.
Happy adventuring! :)
Looking forward to see the rest play out. Now since you weren’t “successful” do you replay that mission or go on to the next?
@Garret Trezona Officially, you can keep on going, or if you like you can try again. It's basically an "open world" to explore. :)
I'm looking to get into Swamps of death so this is great!
btw, where did you get the card tray (where you keep all the card decks)?
Thanks for watching! I got the holder on amazon at amzn.to/3BJ9XYT
Happy gaming!
You did the spider combat first attack wrong. You could of saved on each of the 6s as the tentacles ability only counts for its self. Unless I missed something.
Smooth fast play through. I think your Indian Sciut should be getting 5 XP each time looking through a doorway. Also, thought the party token on the Darkness Track only moved if discovering a room (not a tunnel or junction). Can you send Grit on the tables in town ? Great fun though, look forward to the next.
@Dylan Hyatt Thanks for watching! It's been a while since I did these plays, but I thought I did give him the 5xp for searching (may have happened off screen). Certain tables can have grit used on them, there was a FAQ that on their web site that spelled it out nicely. And not sure of the darkness ... my rules are buried under a bunch of other games. lol
As far as I've seen, the party marker moves with every doorway you open, regardless of whether it's leading to a room or passage. Some of the missions that have you going to a specific space on the track (usually 11, I think) have you add the goal room on to one of the exits and it makes specific mention of how to handle being in a passage
@@TuxKamen Thanks - I think you're right
@@TuxKamen Thanks for watching, and the clarification! :)
Speaking from first hand experience with this game - the faster you play the easier it is to mix things up! Not sure if you account for it in a later video, but those 6,s rolled from the spiders should have been defensible because you were referencing the tenticle ability. Either way you probably would have still ended up retreating anyway🤷♂️? Nice playthrough!
@Chris Lilly Yep, the indian has learned his lesson, and is off to find a partner for those mines. Thanks for watching! :)
Thanks for the video! Great quality and clear presentation. Definitely not a game for me .I didn't see much decision making as it seemed to be a bunch of dice rolls and reading the results. I think it would be better as a choose your own adventure book as the bits, maps, minis, etc seem unnecessary. Luck mitigation would be great for dice rolls and card draws as it was on rails to failure with what appeared to be nothing you could do about it. Thanks again though for the great video!
It really is a dice chucker, but glad I could help with a decision to save you some money! :)
@@DaletheCasualGamer My friend watched and thought that you should not have drawn a high level threat near the end of your adventuring as you're only a single player not a larger group. Were you using the red threat card to increase the challenge or was that an error?
Where did you get that sheet where you mark experience? I need that.. Great play through
Thanks for watching! And no idea, but if you want to shoot me an email ( dalethecasualgamer.com/contact-us ) I can get you a pdf. :)
Man this is much more complicated than the games I've played :D How do you remember rules to all these games? :D
@Naeryo1 As a "casual gamer" I do my best, but miss some things here and there ... generally not enough to break a game. :)
I have this game and love it but the deck management is a lot. Where did you get your Deck holding boxes and what are they called because they seem to do a pretty good job
@VonChoker Managing all the decks and tiles is a task for sure. I got the holder off of amazon, amzn.to/3mmYeem
Which expansions would you recommend for the swamps of death core set?
@Tray Techie For me it comes down to theme, and what arch-type of enemies you want to face. Space aliens, swamp lizards, etc. I do recommend Frontier towns to really expand on traveling and going to town. After that I liked the earlier "bigger box" expansions, like Caverns of Cynder, Trederra or Derelict Ship. They come with their own "world". But pretty much any of the smaller expansions that just add new monsters/enemies are good too. Enjoy, and good luck with your mutations! ;)
I never play this before but with that many dice rolls it seems to me it would be hard to have a balanced play session, have lucky dice rolls breeze through have unlucky dice rolls get destroyed and not much you can do about that ?
@Justin Hutchens This game is definitely a "dice chucking" game, and the dice can really decide the outcome. The fun for me is the continued campaign, so while you may lose (and you will), you pick up some XP and injuries, and mutations, and move on to the next scenario. So not a "You have to win this scenario before you play on". Very much an RPG without a dungeon master for me. :)
You said this is your second favorite game. What is your favorite?
@Snack_Happy Marvel Champions is my #1 at the moment. :)
@@DaletheCasualGamer I thought that might be the case. I enjoy that as well. My only concern with this game is the bulk that needs brought to the table.
